Cheaper by the Dozen – Lukas’ 1st Birthday Extravaganza! - Page 30 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

All caught up! Phew, that was a lot to read through . Great treasure box! Absolutely love it. Good luck with that to-do list! I know there's more I wanted to say, but now I forget . Looking forward to reading more.

I understand. I've done the same thing on reading a lot of someone's report before. Glad you're all caught up now!
I guess I don't really have anything Disney related to report on. Not much has been done on the to do list and probably won't until this weekend - if I get around to it. Maybe today I'll work on our daily touring plan while I'm at work (shh don't tell!). Mike said last night that I needed to get on that. My response: Frist an evil glare, then "You know you could help." Men! He was teasing, and he would do it if I told him too, but he's been pretty busy lately too.
In home life, Dylan's soccer coach called the other night. His first game is on September 10th at 9am (each game will be at this time on Saturdays). They will 'practice' for 20 minutes then play 15 minute halves and then get a treat afterwards. We will miss 2 games as we'll be in Disney, but I've told the coach and at this age I don't think it matters a whole lot.
This week at daycare started the new 'school' program. They started learning numbers more this week. Dylan's teacher would write out the numbers leaving a few missing and the kids were learning what was missing. Like: 1 _ 3 4 _ etc.(Apparently this is usually taught later in kindergarten, but daycare prepares them very well when they finally get to go to real school.) Anyway, Dylan was saying the numbers before the teacher could even write them down. Apparently most kids don't grasp this for a while, but Dylan caught on right away. They were praising him on how good he was doing and he looked at them like 'yeah, so what'. Just a little brag on my smart cookie.
Lukas has learned to say 'uh-oh' and he uses it frequently. I must admit it's pretty cute when he says it because his mouth goes into a perfect 'o' - kind of like the Charlie Brown characters when they sing.
23 days to go: His love of Cars and a cross-country family road trip gave director John Lasseter the idea for “Cars”.
Way to go, Dylan ! He's a I love when little kids say "uh, oh"! They seem to latch onto that phrase because of the lilt in the voice. So cute. (Your updates are fun even when you have nothing to update!)
Good looks AND brains??? You're going to be beating the girls off with a stick!
The visual of the Charlie Brown face has me rolling. I used to tell my sister that my nephew had a Charlie Brown head (perfectly round). She didn't like that. I love Chuck!
Looks like I'm not the only one with a list hidden under her keyboard at work huh? Doing the dance sounds great! Conga line anyone???
Look at Mr. Smarty Pants Dylan. I'm impressed. That's the one thing I like about daycares that also include a curriculum. I'm not saying this just because she's my daughter, but Hope tends to catch onto things a litte quicker (minus potty training ) and her memory is crazy scary, but I credit that to her daycare. I guess I should for the amount of money I'm shelling out. That's great that Dylan's one step ahead.

Congrats to Dylan! I don't think missing the games matters much at that age! It's more like playtime/recess for them! Cute with the uh oh's from Lukas! I remember those days!
I'm way late to the party, but it's been fun reading so much at once! Love that you've got such a huge group to celebrate Lukas's 1st birthday (can't believe he's turning 1 soon ).

Glad you are feeling better - congrats to Dylan -you go girl all mommas need to brag on their kids. Like Melissa's Hope, Evan has a fantastic memeory - I'm amazed.
I was laughing about Lukas and his mouth being a perfect O. I often think my nephew 's mouth looks just like Chris Kringles in Santa Claus is coming to Town. When he cries his bottom lip sort squares off just like CK when the Winter Warlock is after him.
Good for Dylan!! That is awesome. I can picture Lukas making the Charlie Brown O with his mouth, way too cute!
Not much longer now! 23 days When we get this close we are entitled to dance daily I believe! with your to do lists.
I'll have to see if I can snag a picture of him saying it.
And I'll dance daily! DH counts down how many work days we have left.

Tell me about it! He is a smart cookie.
Oh no - I'm bad and everyone knows it. Today is the Fantasy Football draft for the guys at work and I told my boss I think they plan more for it than I do for my Disney trips. He didn't agree.

I'm so glad we switched him from the home daycare. Funny thing is a little girl that went to the same home care is now at Dylan's school too - for that reason. Their daycare is awesome! (And I agree about the amount I shell out - and think I've got 2!!) It's also a christian based school, so they learn about Jesus too.

Too cute with Lukas' "uh-oh"
Sending some more that you get some of that to-do list knocked out this weekend!
Thanks Shelley! I'm not sure how much I'll get done, but maybe the ixies" will work.

That's what the coach said too - after like 10 minutes some are like 'are we done yet?'.

It's crazy what they remember - and what they choose NOT to remember - like washing his hands after going to the bathroom.
