Make your choice Adventurous Stranger...A Goin Solo PTR - Page 30 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

On the Disney front, I am still waiting for the MVMCP tix to arrive. I got my latest set of fancy Disney Park Maps. I must have a thousand sets of these but I still get all squishy inside when they arrive. Also recieved my refill pockets for the DxPP and filled out the info.
This weekend I hope to bust out the Jack Sparrow costume and make sure it fits and I have all the pieces. I also checked out the list of character meet and greets for MNSSHP and I a so excited to meet the villans. Glad I purchased the PhotoPass cd!
I did read somewhere that Disney is going to crack down on the Fast Pass return times. Now, I've always been a good Disney Park Guest and have never returned beyond the time printed on my pass but this trip I was expecting to pick up a few and save them for later in the day. Drat!
I did get an update on the Disney Food Blog Foodie Fest events and there is one I can actually attend! Sushi at Kimono's before Friday's F&W Classic at the Dolphin. Woot! Woot!
Spoke with my buddy Fred from Tampa and he will be stopping by during my stay. He has an AP so we can park hop. He works for a wine and liquor distributor and said he would send me a care package to be delivered to the hotel upon my arrival. Partay!
I am excited to meet up with some PPers during my stay. I am getting peeved at coworkers who feel sorry for me that I am traveling alone. Ugh! I just stick my tounge out and say nanner nanner nanner! I'll be swinging in a hammock on Crescent Lake in 6 weeks while you feel sorry for me!
Starting to get some anxiety thinking about flying. I usually don't fly but it's less expensive to fly (not to mention 7.5 hours faster). When I used to fly from NJ to FL or SC, I always booked the earlies flight, stayed up all night and slept on the plane. Not in this case. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...
I am also excited to announce I will be seeing Cirque de Soleil twice this year! Besides Cirque supplying the entertainment at the Party for the Senses, they are coming to my town in November! I picked up lower level directly across from the stage (in a very small arena) for $43!!! Including tax & fees. I have never seen Cirque live so even if it's an old show (Quidam), it will be new to me. I'm still thinking of taking advantage of the $50 La Nouba tix. Hmm.....
Lastly, I just recieved the email from Adventures by Disney and flipped over the new destination - GREECE! I have wanted to visit Greece since I was a child pouring over Mythology books. I even read the Iliad and Odyssey before it was required reading for AP english. Dork! Now, all I need is $7-$10 K and I'll be set. Um, how bout I shoot for 2013. Anyone want to go with me?
Oh! got to run, we just found mice poop on a desk in the office and I know it ain't Mickey's. Gross!
I don't even know where to begin! I'm so sorry to hear about your work situation. Don't you hate that there's nothing you can do about it?! I hope things get better there!
And kudos to Fred! He sounds like an awesome friend!!!

SCORE!!!!!
Maybe the mouse poop was Sr's or your boss' - they both sound like rats!
First, for the other subject that is being dropped - hostile work environment. Those are the key words to HR and they will scramble so hard they'll pull a muscle. That's grounds for a lawsuit and your boss created it by breaking confidence like that.
Also for how I'm feeling about your workplace right now!!!!!!

Thank you! Yep, Fred's a keeper, old buddy for 10 years. He also brought some awesome vodka and wine to our February trip.

Depends You pagan? Or just like the myths?
Seems like he believes the "establishment" is out to get him. I'll join that establishment.
Not pagan (well depends on how much I drink) hee hee. I was fascinated with Greek Mythology for as long as I can remember. Would sit in the library for hours. I still get all giddy when Clash of the Titans comes on. The original.

Good ole Fred A friend with AB is a friend indeed But Beware of guys bearing free Beer
Was going to offer you Chubbs as a loaner but think BABY and 2 clipss might be more appropriate plus think how much fun it will be watching them squirm during first seven rounds # 8 and an empty clip is for bussiness

Ha! Then we'd drive you crazy, Stitch and I. We're both pagan, and both have a connection to the Greek Gods
I am THOROUGHLY enjoying your PTR, and so sorry to hear about the PITA's at your workplace! You and I sound very much alike in the "temper" department - except you have more control!!!
Anyway - I don't mean to draw you back to that nasty stuff. Just keep thinking about Disney. I often find it is my "Happy Place", when I'm stressed out or angry!!!!!!!
And also never forget this great meditation technique I've utilized numerous times when I'm really ticked off:
Picture yourself near a stream. Birds are softly chirping in the cool mountain air.
You are in total seclusion from the hectic world and relaxing in your secret place.
The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity.
The water is crystal clear.
You glance down for a moment into the rushing waters and smile as you can easily make out the face of the JERK you're holding underwater.
Ahhhhh... Relaxing, ain't it??? Yep - all better now.
I don't know what to say except that work sounds like a nightmare. Keep swimming, but definitely think about visiting the HR department and the "hostile work environment" phrase was good advice.
I think you are going to have a great couple of trips!
