We were inspired by Samantha Brown's Carnival cruise so away we go! - Page 30 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Loooove the Baths pictures... looks gorgeous and fabulous! And Rob would so have sliced his hand too! haha!
This is my fav pic so far of the entire TR... I like want to live here... LOL!
That being said, the ship pics you took came out great-- I love the shoutouts to the towel animals cause I adore them! haha! Also, looking forward (as you know) to hear what you thought of Atlantis!
So..."putt putt"?? Is that another southern thing Cause Craig and I are vicious competitors in "mini-golf". LOL Seriously, it gets ugly sometimes.
That is a great dress! You both looked great!
I love the idea of a day at sea. I almost wish there was something equivalent at Disney so that if I spent a whole day at the resort (which I know people swear by, but I just can't seem to do) because I didn't have a choice, I wouldn't feel guilty.
Looking forward to hearing about Atlantis.
Crissy, I just found your TR a couple days ago and have really enjoyed reading about your cruise! I'm sorry Eric was so sick the first couple of days but it sounds like you were able to get a lot of sightseeing done and enjoy the ship offerings throughout the entire cruise. Your pictures are just beautiful and I would like to go to the Baths now after seeing your pics! Looking forward to hearing about the last day.
Great day at sea! You look great on formal night! I love the way you curled your hair! Can't wait to hear about Atlantis as I'll be in Nassau next month on my Disney cruise.
Crissy, looks like a very relaxing day at sea. Beautiful dress for formal night. You and Erick look so nice all dressed up. Yum, Baked Alaska. We tried that on the last cruise I went on and fell in love with it. I love the Bahamas. Can't wait to read about your day at Atlantis.
Dawn, lol, we called it "Putt Putt" in NY, so it can't be a southern thing!
Crissy, loving this! The at-sea days are always my favorite because they're just so lazy! I am totally excited about utilizing the kiddie club on those days, lol. Hello relaxing!!
Love your formal night dress, of course! And I love Baked Alaska Night. I swear every cruise has that, lol. Cannot wait to hear your thoughts on Atlantis and see the pix. It's been SO long since I've been there. We want to take an actual vacation there but... the prices are out of our range at the moment. It sure is pretty though!
Putt Putt is a brand name business, like calling all facial tissues Kleenex. The first mini golf I ever saw was a Putt Putt course. The Putt Putt ones didn't/don't have the crazy alligators/volcanoes/etc.
Thanks for all the great comments everyone!
I am so glad you are enjoying and now on with the show....
Saturday April 3rd: Nassau, Bahamas 1pm to 8pm
Our last and final Day and our extra day at that
We are used to having Saturday to drive home. But, this time we booked a 7night/8 day cruise so this was our extra day And what an extra day it was......
We woke up when we wanted today. It was a sleep in and lounge kind of day. We spent all morning packing. We had to put our bags out that night when we got back so we spent a good hour packing our things. We left toiletrees unpacked and clothes for the night and day. But for the most part things were nearly finalized. I hate packing and saying goodbye but we had a full day ahead of us!
We then packed a beach bag for the Atlantis Resort which was today's excursion.
It loaded at 130pm and then we had to catch the bus back by 530pm I believe. Those details evade me some but I know it was a 4-5 hour excursion depending on how long you wanted to be there.
We loaded the beach bag and headed down as soon as we docked. We were a few minutes early but it was so hectic down on the pier. First of all, apparently they had overbooked this excursion by accident. Therefore the chairs alotted to us were thin and few and far between at the resort. We are unsure how overbooked it was but there were FOUR SHIPS IN DOCK!! So, if that tells you anything
We were sent in a big group to follow the leader that took us to board the buses that waited just off the pier. This is a very long pier so it was a half mile walk at least.
Here a few pics of us going in..
Here is a pic of us coming into the Nassau port
After wel walked down the pier here was the meeting spot for the buses
This was a pic once we loaded the bus
I will say that there was a long line to board these buses. Everyone was not doing the same tour as we were at Atlantis but there were buses among buses that were going over there from these four boats.
We were loaded on the bus and they knew we were on the tour of Atlantis where we had all access. We were given wristbands that informed the employees at the resort of what we could access and the things we could do. Certain wristbands allowed certain access.
We took about a 15 minute bus ride if that over to the resort.
Pic from the ride
Now, I didnt realize this but its on its own island. You actually cross a bridge going over to the resort and Paradise Island.
This is a really cool pic of the four boats in the pier from where we were on the bridge
You can tell ours is the biggest with the big whale tail
Here is going into Paradise Island and into the Atlantis resort area
It was VERY NICE and exclusive looking...
It was like a little town which it was in essence
The let us off at a bus stop a few blocks from the resort. They told us the buses run in intervals of 30 mins. they gave us a pass to get back on the bus and said the last bus was leaving at 6pm. We put our wristbands on and headed inside with a tour guide who was going to show us where our designated chairs were and to give us a little info about the resort and what our access was to be.
We followed him into the resort and as you can see in the above picture this place was very elaborate!
THere was a exclusive shopping center as you walked in with very high end stores.
You kept walking and that lead into the casino area which was very large!
As you can see here it was very crowded with the groups coming in
He led us outside and this was was site greeted us first...
This is a manmade water area but the water is straight from the beach. It flows in at some point on out from there but this is where there are beaches and water sports...
As we walked in he walked us through this resturant which if we wanted to pay to eat there he said we could it was really cool
He explained along the way what we could do and what we couldn't do.
Basically we could do anything we wanted with our all access water park pass. We could use all the pools and slides and activities. Food was separate and he showed us lockers that we could place our things in and this was a 10 charge but that was fine!
THIS PLACE WAS ENORMOUS!! Eric and I said that the commercials do not do this place justice! It was just amazing and he showed us where our chairs could be but we didnt use them.
We went to the dressing rooms and changed clothes and walked back to the lockers he showed us and stored our things.
We stayed at Atlantis acouple years ago and ...LOVED IT!!! The place is huge!!! And I know what you mean about the NOT SO LAZY RIVER!!! That was one of our favs.!!! The aquariums were just amazing!
