My solo trip to the World - Booked and back in a week! COMPLETE - finally! 4/24!! - Page 30 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well, I just got the chills looking at your last batch of photos. I appreciated the differnt 'point-of-view' from the trolley (you don't see that every day!) and also Liberty Square.
Thanks for the link on Team Hoyt - I had read their story several years back but didn't remember the name. I know Rick is my age and it made a big impact on me, reading his (and his dad's) remarkable story.
Love, love, love the pics. I don't guess I have ever taken the time in Liberty Square to actually look at the buildings. Always getting to the next thing. One day I will have a solo trip or an adults trip, where I can take it at a more easy pace.
Love your trip.

For the first time, I noticed that Team Hoyt is featured in the montage; if you're not familiar with them, they are a father-son team that participates in various endurance races together. The son has the same diagnosis as my son (spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy) and his father pushes him in a wheelchair. They've done over 1000 races together and their story is so inspiring to us that we'd like to be able to bring our son to one of our future races. I love that video. I was a music teacher in a CP center for 7 years. It was one of my happiest times.
When I last left you, I was exploring Liberty Square, but now it was time to move on to Fantasyland!
I've always been fascinated by this building; I'm sure I must have ridden the Skyway on one of my early trips!
I grabbed a FP for Peter Pan and found this HM:
Clue 88, page 33
Then I went across the way to my sentimental favorite:
Clue 85, page 33 (this is a tricky one! I'll give you a hint: check the wait time!)
Clue 86, page 33
Clue 87, page 33
There were a ton of HMs waiting for me in Toon Town, so off I went! Steve Barrett says in his book that a lot of the HMs in Toon Town might be considered more decorative than hidden, but they are such fun to pick out that he included many of them in the hunt! I'll identify them if they appear in the book.
Clue 27, page 26
I didn't really have time to do both Minnie and Mickey's houses this time, so I chose Mickey and left Minnie for next time! These next four pictures are all included in the same clue:
Clue 34, page 27
Clue 35, page 27
Clue 36, page 27
Clue 37, page 27
These next two are in Mickey's game room, and count as Clue 38, page 27.
Apparently, there is also a Donald-shaped paddle, but I only had eyes for Mickey!
In Mickey's backyard, there are several HMs which count as Clue 39, page 27:
I like the little tiny Mickey tomatoes!
The garage was next! Lots to find in there, and all HMs are included in Clue40, page 27.
I especially love these, as it is the plaid of my dad's Scottish heritage! Goofy wears this same plaid over at AK.
Satisfied that I'd found all of the HMs I could at Mickey's, I headed out to search the rest of Toon Town.
Clue 42, page 28
Clue 45, page 28
Clue 26, page 26
Next up was Pooh's Thotful Spot; there are some really cool HMs in there! The first is a tribute to the former occupant of this area:
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Clue 91, page 33)
Clue 92, page 33
Clue 90, page 33
I headed to Snow White's Scary Adventures next, and took a couple of blurry HM photos:
Clue 71, page 31 (look on the chimney beneath the flowers)
Clue 70, page 31
There are a few more during the ride, but I didn't spot them. All the more reason to ride it again next time...I know I used my PP FP at some point, because I remember getting frustrated because I couldn't find the HM in the queue. Of course, I spotted it just as I was about to hop into my pirate ship and couldn't get a photo of it!
Next up was Sir Mickey's. I had a great conversation with a CM named Aurora (her real name, I asked her!) She really liked HMs, too, but didn't remember that there was one in the store. I looked all around but couldn't find it.
It was only when I bid Aurora farewell and headed outside that I found it. You can't really tell from the photo, but it's a cutout in the sign. Hopefully you get the idea!
Clue 93, page 33
Of course, I had to run back in and tell Aurora that I'd found it! I gave her a CM appreciation card, which she said she would put in her scrapbook. I love CMs like Aurora! I went to Pinocchio's Village Haus next and had to really look around for this HM:
Clue 82, page 32
I'd never been in here before, and I think we'll try to eat here on our next family trip. The kids would love being able to watch the Small World boats go by!
Next I headed for Philharmagic.
We waited a bit for the next show, but that gave me an opportunity to hunt for HMs! There are a ton of these hidden all over the queue area. I'll just show you a few of the blurriest ones :
Clue 79, page 32
I really enjoy this show! I wasn't able to spot the HM in the show itself but here's the HM from inside the theatre:
Clue 80, page 32
Up next: back to Liberty Square and a ride on the riverboat
If Goofy wears the same plaid of your family, then you MUST be related to him!!! Very nice shots of the HM's. It's a tough job, this HM business, but you're doing fantastic work! My DD is getting into this now, we'll be purchasing a book for our upcoming trip for sure!

Great pictures of all the HM is Fantasyland and Toontown. I'm going to have to pay attention next time I'm in Mickey's house. I've never noticed the mail before!
