Jared's Wish Upon A Star Pop Century Trip 8/14-8/24 - Updated 6/30 - Page 30 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I can't believe that mother told her kid to put the spoon back in the food. Yuck. Thank goodness someone saw your facial expression and it was resolved.

Great updates. I think it is great that you conquered your RNRC fears - that's my favorite ride I think. I don't blame you one bit on TOT. When I rode it, I held on to my DD15 for dear life and laughed so hard that I was crying (or cried so hard I was laughing) through the whole thing. Not sure if I will ever ride it again.
Great update! I'm glad that you liked the Fantasmic package, we unfortunately didn't get a chance to take advantage of ours however we will try again this time. I can't believe your son LIKED TOT and RnC. I can't even get on those. It's great that they enjoy so many rides though.

I know. I guess I should've said something right away too, so that probably makes me just as bad. I just didn't want to embarrass that mother who was still standing at the buffet line.

(that mom was gross! I can't believe she told her kid to put the spoon back! )
I know. Jared really is brave, too brave for a Mommy like me. He's gonna give me a heart attack.

Glad to hear that someone feels the same as I do when it comes to TOT. I don't know what it is about that ride, but it doesn't help that there is nothing to hold onto.

Sorry that you didn't get to take advantage of the Fantasmic package. I highly recommend it.

I was so happy to see your update, I have been looking forward to hearing more. Sounds like you had a wonderful day at the Studios. Glad thta Jared enjoyed both ToT and RnRC....he is definitely conquering all the "thrill" rides on this trip. Your meal at H&V sounded really nice escept for the spoon incident, can't believe the mother told her to put it back in the food. Glad the server asked you what happened and that they were able to change the food before anyone else ate from there. We had eaten there a few years ago and had a really nice time as well. Looking forward to hearing more.
I just read your whole report and I can't believe I have to wait (I'm not good at this "patience" thing). Can't wait to hear how you did with the rain...

Thank you. That's so sweet. I'm glad I'm not too boring. We did have a great day at DHS. I know that I'm probably in the minority, but I've always loved this park.
I'll be back soon.

Thanks for reading Heather. I'm so happy to have a new reader. I know what you mean about patience, I'm the same way. I'll be back soon to tell you about the rain, but I will tell you that we really didn't let it hold us back much. It was just very draining.
Okay, I am finally back. I realize I probably don’t have too many readers left, but I am determined to finish this trip report before our next trip in July. For those of you still reading, thanks and I am sorry it’s taken me so long. I’ve had a very eventful year to say the least, lol.
The rest of the report will be more pictures and a lot less writing or at least that’s what I intend to do I have been know to ramble though, lol.
We started off our morning by dressing up as pirates. I bought these pirate accessories at Target for about $3 before our trip.
I bought this one with the braids for Jared, but he quickly traded with Aidan. Doesn't he look thrilled.
My two pirates.
Aidan
After grabbing some breakfast in the room, we headed to the bus stop. Waiting for the bus to DTD was the longest wait of our entire trip. We were just about to give up and head to one of the parks, when the bus finally showed up.
The bus ended up being completely packed with people.
Luckily most of the people got off at the first stop which was one of the water parks. Can’t remember which one.
Once we arrived at DTD, our first stop was Goofy’s Candy Co. This was our first time here and all I can say is we will have to schedule a few trips here on our next vacation. Yummmmmmmm!
Jared got a giant peanut butter cup which he had been looking forward to for a long time the boy could live on peanut butter cups.
We all agreed, this was not good. I’m not sure if it was old, but it tasted stale and the peanut butter was so dry. It was very difficult to eat this and I don’t think we finished it.
I got the make your own pretzel rods. These are a great deal on the dining plan, as you get three of them for one snack credit.
I’m not sure what I had them dipped in. I know one of them was dipped in crushed butter finger pieces, but I don’t remember the rest and the picture is too blurry to tell note to self: take better notes next time.
We ended up sharing these, but next time I plan to get my own. No sharing!
Pretzel rods. Sorry about the blurry picture. I've gotten a new camera since because of this problem.
Our next stop at DTD was the pin store I think it’s called Disney Pin Traders or something similar. Jared was on the hunt for a pin he had seen last year and didn’t get to buy.
Aidan at the pin store
We were there for quite a while and Aidan was starting to get antsy. DH decided to leave with him before he had a full blown tantrum.
When we were done purchasing our pins, I could not find Will and Aidan anywhere. I looked around and tried calling his cell phone, but no luck remember he never answers his phone when I call him he claims he didn’t hear it, funny he hears when anyone else calls
I finally found them here:
Aidan on the train.
Will on the train. That's not my son behind him, but he looks like he could be, lol.
