It’s Always Sunny in California!..Eh?...L’il Bit! - Page 30 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've always wondered what the Sheraton Anaheim is like, having driven past and now I know!
thanks!
It is a nice hotel, but still a little too far for my taste.

I was happy with how they turned out.
I am excited for the trip, but I have a lot going on and to do before I get to go, so I need to enjoy each moment.

Most of the areas he took us around to were outside areas.
It really is a beautiful hotel.
We finally did see a room and WOW….these are huge. I want to say that most of the rooms here are not this big, but these were the only ones we were shown, but I might be wrong.
Of course I have to check out the bathroom.
We then headed back to the lobby area to wait for the rest of the groups.
There was a quick service type food place and a gift shop area as well.
And then we were done! We all loaded back onto the bus and headed back to the GC and we got instructions for the next morning and were let free to do as we wished after that.
Cass and I went back to the room and freshened up and I think she called home…I probably did too. I know at one point she was talking to her daughter via skype and I walked by and I put my fat head in front of the screen and said hi and waved and she was so darn cute and waved back to me all excitedly….just like we have known each other for years. It was so cute.
I think we also then made a dining reservation for tonight. Did not want to chance it this time! We selected Steakhouse 55 and I think we made it for around 8:30, but I could be off on time…it might have been 8.
Tonight we were heading off to California Adventure as they gave us a couple of FP’s for there, and of course, they were to be used in the 5-6 PM hours.
We headed towards Carsland because Cass had heard they have a lighting ceremony each night and we wanted to find out what time it was.
We found a CM and asked and he looked on his schedule and we were given a time.
We also ran into this party going on.
We had a FP for California Screamin, so I believe we headed that way next.

The architecture of the Sheraton Anaheim is very reminiscent of a British style house - I like it. I'm so glad you were able to get reservations at Steakhouse 55.

I am going to take the weekend off of posting as I know I have been posting a lot and some need to catch up. I also am so behind at reading. I have started reading a few TR's here, but just haven't been able to post as my time seems to be limited. I'll be back to posting Monday if all goes well!

I just have to say that ALL of your pictures are so great! I'd love to really learn how to use our good camera. Did you take classes or learn on your own? I am so impressed with the quality
I'm also loving the trip report. We leave for Palm Springs in a week and plan to drive to Anaheim for (sadly) a 1 day trip to DL/DCA. Having never been, I know it's not enough time, but we're guests of another mother/daughter, so I can't push the envelope too much LOL! Any suggestions for a good neighbor hotel nearby if I can somehow talk her into staying a night?

Thanks. I started by learning on my own and then I did take some classes several years ago and also learned how to do basic editing with photoshop. I have an ode version of photoshop, but it still works for what i do with it. I don't get too fancy.
Thats so sad about only one day. Off site, I would suggest right accross the street, but if it is a last minute decision then they may not have anything available.
California Screamin was down and they told us our FP would be good if it started running again tonight, but the way they said it made it sound like it may be down for the night. We never did go back and check.
We had a second FP and for the life of me, I can’t remember what it was for or if we even used it….maybe I’ll remember later….
We kept moving on.
Me~ Hey! I bet this is where Toy Story Characters meet. Cass~ Yes and you took a picture of Buzz there the other day!
Oh yeah!!!!!
Snack time!
I got the jalapeno and cheese filled pretzel and it was VERY good.
I actually thought it would be spicier than it was, so I was pleasantly surprised and it filled me us just nicely. I think Cass ran off to find a corn dog.
We were now working our way back towards Carsland, as I think we were getting close to the lighting ceremony time. But wait…a parade is coming through! I took a few pictures as we walked.
If you haven’t guessed…..this is a Pixar parade.
We actually did stop for a little bit and watch it go by and so it would be easier for me to take a few pictures.
I think I would get dizzy swinging around on that bar after a while.
We then cut through near Flo’s. This is part of the outdoor eating area…isn’t it so cute?
So we’re walking and talking…we still have a few minutes yet. We decide to walk back a little further to get better pictures of the whole thing and all of a sudden I see Flo’s lights turn on. I quickly turn around and sure enough, Radiator Springs just lit up as well.
No music, no announcement…..no fanfare whats so ever.
What a bummer.
We then cut through a Bug’s Land. I took some really quick pictures on the go. Sadly I didn’t get back here again and do not have too many pictures of this area at all.
I like this picture of ToT rising out of Bug’s Land.
Nice pix. Sorry you missed the lighting but it sounds like they really di not do anything except turn the lights on. Hope you had a fun day with your family yesterday.

It does look like a fun parade and I hope to sit and watch it next time.
