As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You are welcome! I am feeling better, but I still have some moments of uncontrollable coughing, usually during the night.

Thanks! It seems like lots of folks here have the same cold type thing. I am doing better, but I'd love to be able to sleep all night without waking myself up coughing.

I remember the first time I saw this show that the cast member told us not to duck our heads because the macaws would fly over regardless of how low we went.
Once the macaws had flown home, we left Discovery Island headed for Pandora to make use of our second FastPass of the day. I love entering this land as it transports us to a whole new world. Just a few photos as we made our way to Navi River. [
We entered the FastPass queue for Navi River and walked straight to a waiting boat. I fully intended to just relax and enjoy the ride, but I did take a few photos of this sensory immersive ride. [
When our ride was over, we decided that lunch should be next. We love Satu’li Canteen and since it was nearby, we made our way there. We got a chicken bowl with beans and rice and black bean sauce to share along with two Cokes. Thankfully, we found a table inside in the air conditioning. We ate at a leisurely pace as we had plenty of time before our third FastPass.
On our way out of Pandora, we stopped for a PhotoPass opportunity at the entrance to this land where the large smoking plant is.
We still had quite a bit of time before the third FastPass, so when we noticed a bench mostly in the shade near Tiffins, we decided to sit and people watch for a while. At one point a Cast Member asked if we’d like to take a survey. We got to talking with him afterwards as he was truly a delightful man. He retired a while back, but he didn’t want to sit around doing nothing, so he has been working at WDW now for many years.
Eventually, we were within our window for Dinosaur and made our way there. We both thought this time the ride was a little less jerky.
Luke asked if there was anything else I wanted to do, and I mentioned that since we were in Dinoland already, I’d like to meet Chip and Dale. It took a few minutes for us to find their meet and greet location. The line wasn’t very long so we queued up with the other families waiting. Right before the family in front of us was to have their turn, the chipmunks had to go in for a bit of a acorn break. About five minutes later the duo was back and ready to play with more guests. They really do ham it up with every guest, making so much fun. I complimented them on their cute dinosaur costumes, and both modeled their suits for me, making sure that I noticed the back as well. We really had a good time with them.
At this point we were both feeling tired and with nothing else we wanted to do, we made our way back out to the bus stops for a ride home to Kidani Village. Once in our room, I checked the view from the balcony and discovered a couple of giraffes off to the left. But it was difficult to photograph them.
We both curled up on the bed and rested for a while before dinner.
Tonight we would be eating at Boma with Linda and Pete, so around 5:30 we began our trek from Kidani Village to Jambo House. As I noticed animals outside various windows, I stopped to catch first some zebras and then some giraffes.
Dinner at Boma was as wonderful as it always is. Our server Holly was a hoot, overly chatty at first and almost ADHD. But she did her job quite well. I got a Brut Rose Sparkling Wine to go with my dinner selections. We four took our time eating and talking and laughing with Holly. She was sweet enough to get a photo of our little group.
Before we left Jambo House, we explored Zawadi with Linda and Pete. It is a favorite gift shop for us. No purchases, but I love looking around here. Eventually, we dragged ourselves away and parted company with Linda and Pete. The walk back to Kidani was pleasant as with the sun now set it wasn’t as hot. We stopped by Johari Treasures to pick up some more drinks, and then it was off to the room for some sleep.

More great times in the AK. Some nice photos from NRJ as not an easy one to get good photos as so dark! Glad you enjoyed the Canteen as I had a nice lunch in 2017. Great photos with Chip and Dale as you all seemed to be enjoying it! Nice meal and times at Boma with Linda and Pete and better yet that you had a great server. Boma will be a must to try for the first time on my next trip as I've never been able to fit it in. Must do when I'm visiting the AK. Have been there for breakfast and enjoyed it a lot.

Thanks for the update Cam. I have to say that the thing that most baffles me while reading trip reports is the interaction with the characters. That is something that I have never been able to do. I’m not sure why, but I just can’t get into them. I’m sure I will appreciate them more when we take our granddaughters in 2020. Maybe it has something to do with being terrified of Santa as a child. People in costumes creep me out to this day. I just can’t get over the thought that you have no idea who’s under that costume and it makes me uncomfortable. Kudos to you and all the others out there that are able to embrace them!
Your pictures with Chip and Dale I their dino outfits are so adorable and you both seem to always enjoy your interactions with the characters so much! We so enjoyed our dinner at Boma with you both!
Your photos from AK of both live animals and the Tree of Life are just incredible, Cam!! That shot over the bridge is also one of my favorite viewpoints in the Park!!
