Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Iamgrumpy does MOA a Trip Report! Updated 10/09 Day 2
Sorry for the delay I have a lot going on but here is an update
Saturday 10/01
I woke up to a very annoying sound an alarm going off Geez I just fell asleep a little while ago couldn’t I get a few more hours sleep guess not since Lisa and I had booked a package that had included Breakfast and had arranged to meet at 9:15 for breakfast not thinking that Lunch was at 11am just that we would not function earlier. Girls need our Beauty sleep So I walked over to Lisa’s room at 9:15 and knocked on her door (it became a theme to sing Three’s Company too…you know your singing that now Come and Knock on my Door..I will be waiting for you…) She was ready and we headed downstairs I brought my Coach bag but I should have brought a different one as this one was bulky and hard to carry. (more on that a little later) We made our way downstairs and hit the breakfast bar the hotel had set up they had yogurt, fruit cup, cottage cheese, small boxes of cereal, oatmeal, oranges, bananas, apples, Orange Juice, Milk, Tomato Juice, Pineapple Juice, English muffins, bagels, bread, donuts, muffins, Danish on the cold bar. They had a hot bar that had Biscuits and Gravy, Sausage, Bacon, home fries, French Toast, and eggs. Then you could order from a chef Waffles, Pancakes, and Omelets. I was hungry so I had Yogurt, English muffin, milk, eggs, bacon, and I ordered a cheese omelet that I had two bites of. Then Lisa and I mid way through our meal realize…Lunch! We were to have lunch in less then 2 hours boy will we be stuffed but hey we only live once and we are on vacation we can exercise the 5lbs we gain off! We gave the attendant our coupons and went to wait for the shuttle that was to take us to the mall. I was so excited to meet everyone at the meet and to get some good shopping done!
The Shuttle showed up right on time and we climbed in excited to get our day started. It was another quick ride to the Mall. We made our way to the 3rd Floor and walked towards Bubba Gump’s We stopped to take pictures of the Mall and the Amusement Park Camp Snoopy! We made our way over and I noticed a group in Disney wear and walked over it was Vicky and her Mom Sally, Michelle, Sandy, Bob, and noticed Maggie walking with a few bags from stores she found bargains at. A few minutes later Jana and her family arrived and we all hugged and chatted before going in too sit. They called our names and led us to private room in the back of the restaurant. The server explained the signs “Run Forest Run” and “Stop Forest Stop” to us. If you want the server to stop you flip the sign to “Stop Forest Stop” and they stop.
If you don’t need anything you leave it on “Run Forest Run”. She then explained that the drinks are on a ping pong paddle and gave us the menus. She took our Drink orders, Jana and her family were the Dr Pepper Family and Michelle I think ordered just water and I had Sprite. I know Cokes were ordered and Lisa had a smoothie of some sort. It was hard to hear those on the other side of the table and I had to ask Maggie a few times what was being said. We took lots of pictures and had a great meal. I had a cup of chowder and a salad as I was still stuffed from eating at the hotel.
I got a kick out of Troian painting her nails with lip gloss and tried not to snicker when she really made a mess. Sorry Jana but it was pretty cute I know its different when you’re the parent and they do that but she was too fun! Benji colored and was fun to tease he didn’t realize that I was a kid at heart and also the oldest of the cousins in my family so there wasn’t much he could do to bother me. I had fun entertaining both of them as I deal with adults at work so much I need some silliness. We all had good meals and finished up.
We headed outside and took group pictures the server must have had to use at least 12 different cameras and people in the mall were watching as we stood there. I had a blast. The scrap booking crowd went to Archivers and I really wanted to go back and chat a while but did ya know they have 3 floors of stores to look through! Lisa and I walked with Denise and Sally towards the coffee store and chatted and we finally went our own ways.
Jana had my cell number and I had hers. We arranged that she would call when she got back and we would go to dinner and spend time shopping together. Lisa and I made a plan to walk around the 3rd floor then the 2nd and finally the first! We stopped in what seemed every store. Not to buy anything but just to look at things. I found the bare essentials store (a makeup that is powder and minerals and it’s the only one that doesn’t make me break out) well $26 later I had two new eye shadows…I love them! Poor Lisa sat outside waiting for a good 20 minutes while I tried every color on and made my decision! The Winner’s are : Hottie and Desire!
Up Next: I work here you don’t!

Re: Iamgrumpy does MOA a Trip Report! Updated 10/10 More of Day 2
Here is the rest of Day two its in two posts..
From Bare essentials we walked down the hallway and poked our heads into a Puzzle store. They had some cool Disney ones but I didn’t have room in my suitcase for any so none for me. We had a blast looking at them though! We moved on and stopped looking at some shoes and we made stops at Lane Bryant for Lisa to look as the store was closed near her home. While she looked I programmed my cell phone for voice recognition as 10/1 started a law in CT that you can’t drive a car and talk on the phone! We had stopped at the Verizon Wireless Store before the Bare Essential stores because I forgot to buy a new hands free device (I lost my original one and it was half broken and sadly on 10/8 the new one died as well…I will have to buy a 3rd one now! )
Once she finished looking around we made our way around the 2nd floor stopping in different stores. After finishing the 2nd floor we made our way to the 1st floor and I saw a store that I had wanted to look in since researching this trip Torrid that specializes in plus size clothing with a younger age group in mind. (lets not mention that they opened one in CT and I visit often now) We looked around and I made a mental shopping list for Christmas gifts to give family! After we exited I called Jana to check in and she had just checked in and would meet us in about half an hour. So we walked around the first floor a bit making our way to Wolfgang Puck express to get a drink as I was parched! While we sat drinking our soda’s Jana called and they parked right near Wolfgang Puck’s place and said they would meet us there! So we waited and sure enough within 40 minutes...I mean 4 minutes (sorry Jana had to tease ya just a little) Jana and her family was walking in and getting drinks of their own! We sat and finished our drinks and I played with Troian and Benji and Jana and Lisa talked.
Once finished with our drinks we decided to walk to Basin and to find the QVC Store at the Mall! We walked and walked (this mall was bigger then I thought it would be or maybe larger then my feet were ready for) We stopped at Basin first where I bought 2 hand cut soap and a bar of oatmeal facial soap! yummy I love Basin!
Lisa had a whole list of things she wanted there and so while we waited for her Benji, Troian and I stayed occupied out in the mall lobby. I wish I could have bottled their energy I could make a lot of money if I had it!
Once finished at Basin and all of us ready to move on we walked down the hall and I spied the store that I had strict instructions to call my mom and talk her through the store and take pictures. My mom (Qvcnutt55 on the boards, lurker non poster) is a huge fan of QVC and was so jealous that I would get to go to that store! So as we walked up I took the required photo’s and called my mom using my hands free device I walked through the store describing what I saw, smelled, and thought about it. Once I finished I hung up the phone and did my own shopping there.
Continued in next post…
