Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: One Dental Diva takes on the World
All caught up with your trip, I'm really enjoying reading it. You had such a great time at the clubs, I can't wait to try them in October. Beautiful necklace too - how nice of your hubby to suggest you buy both Looking forward to reading more.

Re: One Dental Diva takes on the World
Dinner in Mexico and Comedy Warehouse
I woke up feeling refreshed but my ears were a bit squished due to the headphones on. Jim was still sound asleep, so I went online to send some e-mails. He finally woke up around 3:30 and we bundled up to out for the night. I wasn’t about to make the same mistake twice by not bringing a jacket!
Me and my Leave a Legacy tile
The view from my tile
We went back to Epcot and rode Test Track again. I almost talked Jim into going on Mission : Space ( I won’t go on it but try to get everyone else on, Yes I am very evil !) but he chickened out. He was hungry so I suggested getting some quick Mexican food, he agreed. Whenever we leave Test Track and head to WS we always cut through the walkway near the Odyssey building. I find that not many people use it.
We ordered some nachos, a coke for me and dos equis beer for Jim. We sat down by the water and enjoyed the sunshine. Next to us was a very peculiar sight , a “normal” looking family that consisted of Mom, Dad, brothers, sisters, aunt and uncle were celebrating a family members wedding. However the bride and groom did not look the typical Disney type to be married here. They were the most punk rock/gothic couple I have ever seen, complete with multiple piercing, tattoos, heavy eye makeup (on both) and black clothing and MICKEY BRIDE AND GROOM EARS on. They didn’t seem to like having them on so I am assuming the parents made them but then again you can never tell if goth‘s are having fun
Me in Mexico
We looked around the countries again and this time I bought DS Pam and DN Siobhan necklaces and earrings in Italy like mine. We ended up by the International Gateway and headed over to the Beach Club to catch the PI bus. It was still too early to get into PI but Jim wanted to look around the West Side.
Coming up: West Side and Comedy Warehouse

Re: One Dental Diva takes on the World
An evening in the West Side and Comedy Warehouse
It was a nice ride over to PI. The night was turning out to be another windy and chilly one. Jim was looking forward to shopping at Virgin Megastore (zzzz snore). I don’t mind going there but staying for more than ½ hour I start to get bored. We stopped first at the store that sells all the movie memorabilia, whose name escapes me at the moment. They have lots fun but extremely expensive things. Have you ever looked at the prices! After that we went over to Magnetron and ended up buying 2 magnets, one that looks just like a ham sandwich and a donut. They are incredibly lifelike. The ham, lettuce, tomato and cheese all look so real. The donut even feels like one. I don’t know what I will do with them but I have looked at them every time I go and decided that this time I will buy one.
Jim looks around the magic shop while a women is talking on her cell phone trying to return something for the person she is talking to. The poor guy working is trying to sell some tricks to a little boy and this women is yelling at him to talk to her friend on her cell. He looks at her and says have her call the store line and I will talk to her then. I just can’t believe the nerve of some people!
I sit outside while Jim looks around Virgin Mega Store and look at my watch. It’s 7:30 and time to head over to PI! I find Jim, grab him and go to PI. The first show at CW doesn’t start for another 30 minutes so we get another drink and sit in Adventures Club. Not much is happening yet there, the characters don’t come out until 7:45. It was a nice warm place to sit and people watch. I really looked around in the different rooms and noticed things that you overlook when the action is going on. Like there is a record player that is spinning with a record on it and you can really hear the music coming out of it. One by one the actors come out and mingle with the crowd. Soon it’s time to get in line for CW so we say goodbye.
The line is not too bad and pass the time watching every one dance to the music by the west end stage. Up until recently they had live bands all the time but due to budget cutbacks they no longer have them. It kind of sad to see the empty stage. One of the CW actors told me when the West Side opened PI really suffered. He said when he was at AC you could not even walk in the club and now it’s busy but not like before.
We were seated upstairs this time and had our favorite server Dee again. She remembered us again and brought our drinks over without asking what we wanted! We were sure to give her a good tip. The show opens and it gets off to a somewhat slow start but soon picks up steam when Philip comes out with the rest of the cast. He really energizes his fellow cast members! I decide again if they ask for an embarrassing story I will volunteer. Philip comes out and in fact does ask for one, my hand is in the air and he calls on me first. I tell them about the time when I was in high school and I fell off the bus and ripped my pants. Philip felt so bad for me and said “ Oh my god Jenn you poor thing”. The cast came out and sang a country song about me. It was so cute! Fortunately for the them I have plenty more stories for them.
This is Philip taken without a flash
One of the skits that was so funny. Starting L to R.. Philip as a Pepperidge Farm Train Conductor, John as a 7th year senior, Brian as Nurse Betty who is a very bitter head nurse at managed care hospital.
We stay for the next 3 shows only missing the 12:30 show. I was tired as was Jim so we headed back to the hotel. It was a cold wait at the bus stop, the wind was blowing so hard! Jim was hungry and he was in luck as Everything Pop was open for 5 more minutes. He grabbed some grub while I went to the room. We watched TV for a while from our separate beds and drifted of to sleep………..

...the most annoying bird calls known to man, a screeching eagle/hawk and a crow like sound that goes CAAAACAAACAAACAAACAAACAAA. He does them constantly ,at top volume but I can’t believe he still there, or maybe it’s his offspring. Next time you go listen, you’ll hear it!

Are you sure this isn't the recording of the "distress" call they use to keep birds away from Epcot?
Your trip report is fabulous!! I love all the PI info. I'm hoping to get there with DH in May.

Re: One Dental Diva takes on the World
Sunday January 16, 2005
Plans for today: Disney MGM Studios, Lunch at Sci Fi Drive-In, Animal Kingdom in afternoon and Pleasure Island at night.
I forgot to post this picture yesterday! Dee the waitress took this of us at Comedy Warehouse
I can’t remember what time we woke up today but I am disappointed that we are not sleeping late as we don’t have to get up with Jameson. I guess we are programmed to get up early no matter what
We called Pam and didn’t speak to Jameson this time. He is having a ball but he does keep asking when we are coming home. I miss him yet am so glad to have this time alone.
We ate at Everything POP again and this time it was crowded, people just everywhere. We ate over by the lounge as it’s a little more quiet. They have the exact same toaster/condiment area as the other main parts except it’s barley used! We gobbled down our food and went back to the room to get ready for the day.
A quick stop at the room and an even quicker bus ride over to MGM we were ready to start our day. We walked over to One Man’s Dream and then I wanted to see WWTBAM but it was taping the TV show with Meredith Viera at this time and tickets were long gone
Jim wanted to see the new backdrop on New York street, he really liked it but most of the buildings were boarded up so they could take down the Christmas lights. I really miss the bus and other cars that used to be on that street. Why did they get rid of them?
There doesn’t seem to be much going on at the Studio’s, everything is closed or being rehabbed. We did a few other things before our PS time at 11:30. We were seated right away. Jim loves this place and loves watching the old movies especially the cartoon “The cat who hates people”. I got a hamburger and another glow cube drink, while Jim got a mushroom burger and a chocolate shake We decided to go over to AK after this as we were pretty much done with this park. We looked through all the shops on the way out including Sid Cahunga’s where they had a ton of All My Children clothes. My god Susan Lucci aka Erica Kane is teeny tiny! Her waist must be as big as one of my thighs!
We wanted to go back to the Hotel first before going to AK and the bus stop had a huge line at it. One bus pulled up and it took forever to load 2 people in scooters. It took so long that another bus pulled up behind it and everyone got on that one. This one family is at the front letting everyone go by saying they are waiting for someone. By the time we get up to get on the person they are waiting for (Mom) comes running over, I guess was shopping because the father told me that 3 buses had come and gone while waiting for her. So they get on the bus and she turns around and asks me “What is Pop Century? Is it fun?” WHAT? I tell her it’s a hotel and she looks at me and asked are you sure? Uh yeah pretty sure! Not 2 minutes goes by and the peopleon the other side of me ask the same thing!!!!!! I kid you not! How can you not know what bus you are getting on or where you are going? Do they just see a bus and randomly get on? Did they not read anything about WDW or even the information they give you a check in? Jeez! I don’t know why but it always irks me when people don’t read up where or what they are going to do on vacation. I guess I always want a game plan, it’s nice to know what’s to offer where you are going right?
Coming up Animal Kingdom and Pleasure Island
