As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The Freeman Disney Christmas - Day 3!
<font color="purple"> Thanks for the lovely comments Unfortunately the migraine stayed on and off for a few days afterwards but I've put it down to jetlag - I kept feeling like I was moving until about Day 5 so I reckon I was just unlucky. Anyway, on with Day 3
Saturday 18th December
I was wide awake from about 4.30am, my migraine still prominent and I felt utterly miserable. I lay there for awhile before getting up and doing some unpacking – anything to take my mind off of it. By 6am, I was in Classics Hall waiting for Everything Pop to open. I grabbed myself a magazine and some soda in my refillable mug and sat down.
After awhile, I went back into the shop to ask if they had any information on the LE Happy Holidays 2004 Pop Century pin that was due to be released that day. The woman at the till didn’t even get a chance to answer my question – another CM next to her cut in and she really had a go, and spoke to me in a very sarcastic manner. No they didn’t know when it would be released, they didn’t know anything, it wasn’t in the stock room yet and apparently I was the 20th person to ask her that already so give her a break. Firstly lady, I hadn't even seen 5 people so far, let alone 20! Secondly, I only asked as I was there and thirdly, it ain’t my fault you’re grouchy so take a chill pill and go sit down! Ok, so I didn’t say all this but I really wanted to. Grouchy old bear – I guess some people don’t do mornings!
Anyhoo, I was back in our room by just gone 7am and hubby was stirring. We showered, dressed and headed to MGM Studios. We drove rather then wait for the bus and parked up at Television 14. We were able to walk to the front entrance as we were so close. The ticket machines were down so they just stamped our passes.
MGM was empty – where the heck was everyone? (I will post my MGM ghost town photos later - I need to resize them!) Walking up towards the hat, we had our photo taken and were given one of those new photopass cards - they are such a cool idea.
Hubby went off to ride Rock n Roller Coaster and I wandered around, taking photos and I also went to get my MGM Passholder pin. I waited at the top of Hollywood Boulevard for hubby. He’d only managed 1 go on the coaster as it had stopped when he was about 10 people from the front. By the time he got off, there was a queue and he couldn’t be bothered to wait. Hubby was hungry so we went into Starring Rolls bakery, where we indulged in some pastries and bagels. Yum!
As we were coming to the end of our brekkie, we heard the soldiers from Toy Story and saw their vehicle drive past so Andy went to investigate.
I wanted to have a look at the wait times for Little Mermaid and on the way, hubby took some more photos.
The first showing of Voyage of the Little Mermaid was due to start in 20 minutes and I wanted to wait. It was worth it, I love this show and I cried at the end – what’s my age again? We walked towards New York and Muppet Vision. We took photos along the way, including some of the new stunt car show.
It looks pretty much finished.
As we walked round, I couldn’t believe how many lights were up as part of the Osbourne Lights. I couldn’t wait to see them all lit up.
We went into Muppet Vision 3D and just caught the last few minutes of the pre-show (rat-schmatt, besides they’re tourists – what do they know!) If you haven’t seen this then you won’t have a clue what I’m on about but that line always makes me laugh. It took a few minutes for the show to start as apparently the computer hadn’t reset itself. Soon it began and as usual, we loved it and laughed throughout. I love the 2 old guys, they’re so funny.
As we left the show, we noticed that Buzz, Woody and Jessie had just come out so we had our photo taken with them.
Next I went into the Muppet Store and the Christmas Shop while hubby had a cigarette. We then walked towards Star Tours, which hubby decided not to ride, then we walked up past the ABC Commissary. There were a few people queuing by the Monsters Inc stage so we joined the queue. Sure enough, after a minute’s wait the doors opened and Mike appeared. No Sulley though! I’ve no idea where he was – the CM did have a witty excuse but for the life of me I cannot remember what it was. Mike was so cute – he was dancing about and a little girl was copying his movements, it was really sweet. Hubby and I got our photo taken and I got a huge hug which put a daft grin on my face.
We carried on walking round and taking photos. By now it was 11am and due to my pounding head and lack of sleep, I wanted to head back to the room for a break and come back later. We got the tram back to the car (because I wanted to) and eventually managed to find our car – this happened most days, we’d always forget where we parked the Jeep. We never had this problem with cars in the past.
On the way back, we took a detour to Downtown Disney for some light shopping and lunch at the Earl of Sandwich, one of our favourite eateries. It was absolutely heaving! It took us a fair bit of driving round to find a parking space.
We visited the Wonderful World of Memories - where I bought a scrapbook album, some papers and stickers – Disney’s Days of Christmas, the Pin Traders where I stocked up on pins, Disney Tails to show Andy and then the Everything $10 and Under shop. We bought a Christmas Stitch antenna topper (which we used to top our Christmas tree) and a $6.99 grab bag, which was real value for money.
We were getting hungry so we had to go to the Earl of Sandwich. Andy had the Hawaiian BBQ and I had the Frenchy – oh wow – and as we were feeling piggish (oink) we shared the Cannonballs. Oh my, how good is the Cannonballs sandwich?
the Cannonballs!
the Frenchy!
the Hawaiian BBQ
We shared a Hawaiian strawberry and banana smoothie. I still maintain that this is the best smoothie in the whole world!
Marketplace was so busy, it was a struggle to get past people so we gave up and went back to Pop for a well earned rest. We didn’t wake up until gone 6pm. We dragged our butts to Chilis and waited a mere 10 minutes for a table – not bad for a Saturday, even though we were originally told it would be 30 minutes! We shared boneless shanghai wings and fried mozzarella sticks. I had the chipotle bleu cheese and bacon burger and hubby had the fajita pita.
After Chilis we had a swift drink in the bar (read that as hubby had his Coors Light fix) and then it was back to the room so I could nurse my head and get some sleep. I was in bed by 9pm.
coming up: Day 4 - a very English meet at Epcot!

Great Update Annabel.
Jan and I saw you two in the line ordering at Earl of Sandwich, we were headed out the door. I though we'd be meeting you later and decided not to fight the crowd to say hi. Now I'm sorry I didn't as we didn't see you two for the rest of our trip, and we were at Pop also....

Re: The Freeman Disney Christmas - Day 3!
We had some stickers, lego-type keychains, collectable cards and a holder and I can't remember what else, I think there were 5 items and the cheapest price on them was $5 which was good going. I'll definitely buy some more.
