As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay I totally agree this I a great topic... and I have one from my Grandmother's 94th Birthday & her last trip to Disney. We were visiting for 10 over planned very busy days & i knew my gram's Alzheimers would play a factor in keeping our schedule bw just getting going & of course her small meltdowns when she couldn't do whatever she wanted whether it was staying with a character or riding again or merely not going home. Anyway, while CMs were amazing our entire trip, the Poly manager & the valet stand out above all others who made our trip magical bc believe me when I say that trip will never be ur passed in memories except for maybe when I take my 22 month old for his first trip. But i digress.
To say the least when the valet saw us coming he was right there with the rented van which he always kept close by. He always ran to help her into or out of the van since during this trip she was in a wheel chair with oxygen. To say the least we never waited in the heat for our car and it was always cool bc he remembered to put the air on for her.
The best memory for our entire family though could have easily been an ur magical moment had it been anywhere but Disney. Gram obvious had issues getting in & out of rides but she insisted on riding splash mountain which is one of the least handicapped friendly ride. Between the narrow hard plastic bench seating which of course are wet due to the nature of the ride u can only imagine our dilemma. Getting in was one thing but out...
Instead of grumbling or unhappy guests who were caused to wait bc she was struggling we were met with a happy chorus of happy birthday & go Grammie go chant until she could get out. I say only in Disney. To say the least 7 years later, I can close my eyes & still hear the chanting of guests. What a magical moment for her on her birthday.
In 2009 on my oldest son's birthday trip (9yo), he had a HUGE breakdown as we were walking back down Main street to leave. He was upset it was his last magical night in the Magic Kingdom. And no he wasn't screaming and kicking he was just crying. It was an ugly cry though. A cast member showed up with three HUGE ice cream cones, one for him and one for my husband and I. It really did hear us all up. (just typing this brought a tear to my eye)
in 2011 My youngest's first trip (he was 6 at the time)he had to take the stuffed bunny he always sleeps with. Well every morning he would tuck the bunny in bed to rest while we went to the parks. Well on the morning of check out he took the bunny out of the bag and tucked him in!!!! Well we made our first flight and between flights my son asked for his bunny. Panic ensued as we looked frantically for the bunny thinking it fell out of the bag at security. But just in case I called WDW lost and found and left a description of the bunny along with our room number and resort as I was boarding our final flight home. FIVE DAYS LATER a package arrived addressed to my son with a note saying his bunny enjoyed the extra time at WDW but was happy to come home. My son was so happy to have his sleeping buddy back. And no they did not charge me shipping.
I have had so much magic in the years I've been going to Disney. But this last trip I had the most. We took my 18 month old, who had been when he was 6 months and 12 months. We knew it wouldn't be easy, but this time around was EXTREMELY difficult. It was unseasonably warm for early May, and he did not want to sit in his stroller and was just learning to walk. He only wanted to sit on Daddy's shoulders, which was wearing Daddy out.
He fell asleep while we were having lunch in Germany in Biergarten in his stroller. When he woke up, he appeared terrified as he had fallen asleep when we were outside and woken up to the sounds of a loud Polka tune. I knew he was going to lose his mind so I took him outside. He proceeded to scream bloody murder and then roll around on the cobblestone through the whole pavilion while I tried to grab him and pick him up. Most people gave me looks of sympathy, some of annoyance, but one very nice man came up and started fanning him with a Japanese style fan and talking to him. He was fascinated and calmed immediately.
We had several parents help by distracting our fussy near toddler age child. If you have ever been a parent of an 18 month old, you know how embarrassing it can be when they have an out of control melt down and ANYTHING that helps them calm down is like a gift from God.
I wish out here in the real world more people were helpful like that.
what a lovely story - thank you for reminding us that in spite of all the butt-nuggets in the world, there are still some wonderful people who are willing to show kindness for the sake of kindness.
Okay so this happened awhile ago.... like in March of 1997!
It was me, my DS at the time was 5, my other DS who was just a little over 1 years old, and my husband then (he is now my ex!). We were in Mexico checking out everything. I took DS 5 and DH had the 1 year old. A few minutes later I hear a big crash then crying. Yeah it was DS1 who touched this glassware and it broke all over the floor, plus he was cut too on his hand. I ran over and saw who it was... I was so embarrassed of my own son that broke something that was very expensive, but I was mad at my DH too! He obviously wasn't watching him! I remember telling the CM that we would pay for what was broken, and she was like no... take care of your son. Like don't even think about paying for it. We left and as we walking away from Mexico I started to think that maybe there might be glass in my son's hand. I took him to the First Aid (even when my DH said that he was fine), it didn't matter I wanted to make sure that there wasn't any glass.
The nurse at First Aid immediately calmed me and my son down. She took him and disappeared and I waited. She told me that she very gently washed his cut, checked to see if there was any glass, there wasn't. She put medication on it and wrapped his hand. She even gave me some extra, because I did not have that kind of bandage. When we walked outside, my DS was happy! I couldn't have thanked her Enough!
Me and DH would have paid but the CM was so much more concerned about DS that she would not take our money! Of course we avoided Mexico for a long time after until DS was older! LOL
I am sure if this happened somewhere else it would have had a different outcome. But at Disney my son came back as a Happy kid again, regardless of the fact he had a cut on his hand. Love Disney for making my baby happy and also relieving his poor, scared Mom!

DH is applying for the PI program, and for fulltime jobs at Disney and it just does my heart good to share these with him, and he looks forward to making magical moments for all of you someday!
It seems like every time we have gone something magical has happened, I will just point out the big ones for now. A few years ago a stay @ CBR I had made reservations to stay in Preferred location and of course paid ahead for that area. I was traveling with a mother who uses a walker, and needed to be close to the Food Court and bus stop. Well we were placed in Aruba 54 (fairly far away). Anyway our concierge driver could not have been a sweeter man. When he delivered us to our room, I asked him if he knew why we had been put here? He said let me call up to the desk, this is not right if you paid for preferred. We did stay one night in the Aruba room, however the next day all of our luggage had been moved to Martinique 26, we ended up in the exact room we had the previous year! Our concierge driver came later that pm to check on us, I was stunned by his kindness. I sent personal letters of recognition to CBR, to him, and to Disney directly, now that was over the top customer service and all of it was done with a huge smile might I add! He was amazing!!!!
On our last trip my daughter accidently through away a 220.00 gift card at the MGK. Now, I was not happy to say the least, it was the day before we were set to leave and were heading to DD to do last minute shopping. A cast member happened to see my daughter crying, and probably the frustration on my face. And asked if there was something he could do to help? I said well if you have 220.00 that would be great. He said well no, but what happened did someone steal it from you, because we can go to loss and prevention. I said no she lost a gift card. He said come with me. He took us to town hall, and ran us through all these computer systems, asked where our last transaction had been, where we had purchased the card, approx. when we had purchased the card. Guess what....they could trace the card, knowing exactly the time it was purchased, when, where, etc. so in Disney fashion they issued her a brand new card!!!
