What exactly DID we do in 12 days? - A Coop/ChukkerB TR - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am so glad you started this! I love your TRs! So sorry to hear about your cat. And the coffee incident. At bathroom issues. But at least you got to see the castle and had a great dinner!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy our TR's.

Sorry about the coffee spill, Coop! Men are so clumsy
Well, I could've/should've put it on the floor and not balanced on my luggage- so I do take some blame. It was just an accident.

LOL - yeah, it may seem that we just got up, went to a park, ate and came back but the attention is in the details. I'll be getting to those.

You all managed to have some fun in spite of the parade crowd at MK, and then you ate at one of my favorites, Boma. Delicious pics! Sorry about the blister, Chuck. When we first became DVC members, SSR was the only option, but I truly enjoyed our stays here in 2005 and 2006. Then AKLV came along and I found my true home. We finally returned this past October after 7 years away. I was afraid I'd be disappointed, but in the end I loved it. Not as much as AKL, but it is a nice resort.
I also found myself taking pics of light fixtures and thought of you!

Know you had great weather when you arrived cause it was nearly 80 at 11 when we left DTD to get on I4 to head home. Sorry we Missed you.
See Great minds think alike first thing we did on getting into MK was take train over to Fantasy Land but being Dizzy enough already we bypass teacups. Love that you two start every trip with a dinner at Boma. We did it for breakfast twice and loved it next trip I think we'll try it for Dinner and skip Saana outright.
Chuck loved that there was a day 2. Sorry you had problems with feet thats why I wear shoes. Have to agree with you on flying. Coming down in same fixed wing aircraft I went up in is an un-natural act.
Thanks Mike - I know you understand about the fur babies.

I'm so sorry about your kitty. Our pets have a way of winding themselves around our hearts, don't they?
Here's to better and healthier days.
Jill
Thanks Jill! I agree - a glow cube drink always helps!
I woke up at 6 am with a (still) bad belly. But I managed to get back to sleep and slept in until 8 am. Chuck was up and we had coffee/tea on the balcony. Then we showered and got ready for the day. We walked over to check out the pool area and Artist Palette where we had breakfast after another bio break.

After that it was over to the bus stop to catch a ride to AK.

First order of business was the Safari after a potty stop. We got paper FP's and were waiting because the return time was in about 30 mins. So we just sat and people watched for a few minutes. Then I checked the stand by time and it was shorter than the return time for FP's! So we hopped in that! I think with the FP+ that sometimes the FP lines are now LONGER than the stand by. We figured if we were waiting 30 mins - why shouldn't we wait in the standby for 30 mins? Anyhow, we had a good 2 week safari. I got some really good pics this time (new camera that I just LOVE - Canon SX260 - thanks for the recommendation Shazza!)

After our safari and another restroom trip (are you guys beginning to see a theme?), we headed over to FOTLK- I LOVE this show!!!

I'm going to end this post here and pick up in the next post because I have MORE PHOTOS!! Dinner, GF, Epcot coming up!
After more people watching after the show, we decided we wanted to go swim. So we headed back to the resort and had lunch at Artist Palette (sorry, I didn't take pics because we took it "to go" and ate in our room - Chuck had a flatbread and I had a sandwich with some really good homemade chips!) and then a swim (I could swim because I was feeling confident that my belly was better - no problems for most of the afternoon!) There were a bunch of guys watching football at the bar. Lions at Pittsburgh I think - and it was so snowy that they couldn't see the yard lines! We had to laugh - because we just left winter! Chuck works for the Lions' doctor and I always laugh because they are such a bad team. And the snow didn't help! We did get a couple of cocktails at the pool bar - I had a Mai Tai and Chuck had a Long Island Ice Tea. The MB's made it easy - just swipe and plug in a pin #, sign and voila! After pool/hot tub/drinks, we headed back to our room to get ready for dinner. We showered and dressed and then made our way to Narcoossee's by way of bus to Epcot - monorail to TTC - monorail to GF. It was dark and while on the monorail, we saw the gates to MK all lit up. Chuck said "we should ride this way again at night just so we can get a pic of that" (we weren't ready for the pic this time) and I agreed. But did we? Spoiler - Nope.

We had a fabulous dinner as only Narcoossee's can do! There was a family that was sitting against the window in perfect fireworks position that I saw behind Chuck. It was a family of about 8 - 6 adults and 2 kids. Well, here it was almost time for fireworks, lights are dim and they appear to be having a splendid time chatting and eating. And there - in the middle of the table - was one of the kids - FACEPLANT DOWN on his plate! Just snoozing away! Parents just oblivious (or just letting him sleep) It was hilarious. I tried to get a pic by pretending to take Chuck's pic - but it didn't work. Anyhow - I didn't get pics of that but I did of food porn - a bit dark. Later pics of food porn are better, I promise. So, Chuck had a BBQ shrimp and grits app, while I had the cheese board. Chuck had a martini and I had some Conundrum. We both had the surf and turf (butter poached lobster tail with filet mignon - and I'm drooling just thinking about it!) Then, since I've heard so much good about the almond crusted cheesecake, we decided to share it. OMG! That thing is sooooo good! I thought it was "just another cheesecake" and so we had passed on this last time. But believe me- it is not your average cheesecake! It is indescribably yummy!

These two are both taken from the deck outside of Narcoossee's. I LOVE the zoom on my camera!

Dinner:
, , , , ,
After dinner, we slowly worked our way back to the bus stop and caught a bus going to DTD.
, , ,
We were going to shop but both of our feet were hurting and so Chuck suggested that we ride through to PI and get off there to catch our bus to SS. I agreed and so the bus we were on from GF stopped at the same bus stop for SS - convenient! We got off and then turned around and noticed that he changed the sign - to SSR!!!! We were on the right bus all along! So we just got back on the same bus we just got off of. LOL! Soon enough, we were back at SSR, got some ice water and in our jammies. We watched some TV and I wrote some notes then lights out.
TIW savings today - Breakfast at AP - saved $3.69, Lunch at AP - saved $13.33 (we bought mugs too), Dinner at Narcoossee's - saved $44.15
Yumm Narcoose's is the next restaurant on my "must-try" list. We had it on our upcoming trip, but it got bumped for V&A! Love your pics from AK, the giraffes are so cute and the FOTLK made me feel like I was there
Narcoossee's is still my favorite "nice" meal at WDW. That would have been a hilarious picture of the kid who passed out in his food. My brother did that at the luau many (many) years back... right in poi (sp???)
