Just the two of us! (Need I say anything more?) Our Fantasy & Dream trip…Lots of photos completed 4/25/2014 - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am so glad that you posted pictures of POR. That is where we are staying and I convined hubby to stay there because of the Alligator Bayou. So we are hoping we get that area!! Pictures from BOG are amazing, you got some great details there. Can't wait to hear more.

Great update! Lunch looks quite yummy. Love the Rose room pics, it was not open when we ate dinner there this past June. I wish it had been. But I guess the Beast is not there for M&G during lunch so I guess it is a trade off. Looking forward to much more.
I just missed you guys! We checked out of POR on the 28th! We were in the Oak Manor area. It was my first time at POR, and the resort was beautiful! We didn't get any 2013 doodad for our Magic Bands, though!
Can't wait to hear more!
Wow that was close. This has happened to me a couple of times coming so close to possibly meeting someone from PP. Oh...this is the doodad. It was pretty cool but I can't believe they are being sold on eBay. Lol!
Not my image

Thanks...Yes, BOG needs to get a bit more organized but the food was good and preordering it was even better.

We loved the Magic Bands. It was great not having to pull out KTTW or CC cards for purchases and food and no paper tickets that can get lost for FP. BOG was a bonus, regardless of the glitches as the line was all the way past the front gate and we just sauntered right past everyone.

The cupcakes were really good. Nice and moist. I think we'll have to try BOG for dinner next time.

Good to hear from you again rhinohunter! I love taking pictures and the photos are just posted at PP's size requirements. But I agree with you I love to see the detail in a shot and small images are so hard to see it all. Thanks.

Glad you found me! I've been wanting to try the "Grey Stuff", since I heard about it. This was a perfect way. Yep...Muffy just glazed at me when I said goodbye and headed for the door. She was in good hands though.

Thanks so much. I like your way of thinking.

AB wasn't at all what I expected. It was a lovely room with beautiful grounds. We only stayed one day but I would stay more. Your hubby will love it!

I would love to try BOG for dinner but if you can't get a ressie lunch is great plus you get to visit all the rooms. Then of course there is FP which I hope other restaurants will join in.

After our filling lunch and my photo’s Dan and I made our way past BOG and headed towards Dumbo. I paused to look at the new Ariel ride and told Dan we had a FP for this in a couple of hours to which he crinkled his nose and shook his head. We got in line for Dumbo and it wasn’t a very long wait at all. Dan and I shared an elephant and away we went. It was fun and the look on Dan’s face was priceless. I could not believe that this was the first chance he had ever ridden this iconic ride.
After Dumbo we had some time to burn until our next FP so we headed out of Fantasyland and through the castle. Now as many times as I have been through the castle I can’t say that I have ever taken the time to admire the tiled murals that line the walls never mind thought of taking a picture. So while Dan stood guard I took a picture of each wall. He stood by because he is bigger than I am and some over enthusiastic tourists might just run you over. Dumbo
Gaston
Castle Murals…so pretty
Castles Christmas decorations
A pretty flower
Alice Topiary
Time for some shopping
And a Pineapple Dole Whip Float
It was finally time to ride Little Mermaid but I had to explain to Dan that this was a ride. No…we were not going to visit Ariel, though her grotto for meet and greets was just next door. Lol! The ride was real cute but on the dark side at times so photos were impossible. At least for me. Waterfalls in queue line Not so focused…sorry
On the way to Adventureland to ride Pirates we passed a few interesting photo ops. Beast’s Castle at dusk
Rapunzel’s Tower
Riverboat reflection
Our last FP was the Haunted Mansion and then we were off to catch the castle lights. Beautiful Castle Lights A few images from my Samsung Galaxy Flowers everywhere Walt and Mickey And friends
Though Magic Kingdom was open until 1 am we had dinner reservations at Boatwright’s at 9:50 and decided to leave the park around 8 but not before stopping for a little bit of shopping. Busy Castle Forecourt
Tin Soldier
Blurry Balloons
We arrived back at POR in plenty of time to freshen up and head to our diner ressies. Arriving a little early we waited no more than ten minutes then were shown a nice little table upstairs. Dan didn't care for the atmosphere but I thought it was fine. Our server brought us our menus along with ice water and a basket of corn bread. We made our orders and in the back of mind I was thinking…will there be cake? Boatwright’s
Menu
Corn Bread
Dan talked me into getting an Ultimate Long Island Ice Tea. I swear there was no tea in this drink. Ultimate LIIT
Yummy aps Cajon-seasoned Crawfish Bites…served with Remoulade Sauce Shrimp & Grits…Sautéed Grits with Tasso ham and Red-eye Gravy over a grilled Grit Cake
Both of these were soooo good and so very big. One was enough for two people. Next up….the entrees.
Dan chose Crawfish Étouffée…Crawfish simmered in a rich seafood sauce served over rice
I chose the Pasta with Shrimp…Spinach, Mushrooms, Shallots, Peas, Sun-dried pesto and Asiago cheese over Orecchiette pasta.
Again so delicious but such huge portions. I bet that I ate less than half and Dan ate about two thirds. I have to admit that the Étouffée was incredible and Dan raved so much about it that the chef came to our table and gave me the recipe. Dan told him that this was the best he has ever eaten and the chef was thrilled. I can’t wait to make this though craw fish is hard to come by here. Lobster may be substituted.
Up next was dessert and though I was thinking about a slice of pecan pie or seasonal bread pudding I had to ask? Is the cake I ordered for my husband’s birthday here? The look on her face was priceless. She obviously knew nothing about my cake but she scurried away and we waited while Dan worked on his second “Ice Tea” and I nursed my first. In a few minutes our server returned. She was behind Dan and I tried to suppress a smile as she approached with Mardi gras beads and balloons in one hand and Dan’s birthday cake in the other. She came up from behind him as some other servers joined in in a hearty Happy Birthday song. Dan had his cake, balloons, beads and a birthday pin. What a great ending to an already perfect day. Birthday cake….Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Frosting Birthday Boy
Shots around POR at Christmas Time Next…One last chance for photos before heading to the port and boarding the Fantasy

Your pics of POR are great! It looks just like I remember it...of course I saw it just days before you took those pictures!
The food looks wonderful! We didn't make it into Boatwrigh's, but we passed by it each day on the way to the food court. I'll definitely stay at POR again someday, and I'm going to order the same things you did at Boatwrights! Glad they didn't mess up Dan's cake! It looked wonderful as all your cakes usually do!

Your visit to Boatwrights at POR looks great. As I am just starting planning our next trip to WDW, DW has asked that we go to some different restaurants than the ones we have been using. This one seems to fit the bill nicely. Your pix are great. I had to wipe the drool of the keys to write this post.
