Dogs and Disney - My Two Favorite Things! 12/12 - 12/19 PTR - UPDATED 12/9 - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Made me tired just reading your plans, but they do sound great! I hope you do get to go to Rafiki's one morning. I wish my trip had been planned for a week later so I could have gone to at least one day of the competition. One of the vet techs at Rafiki's, Liz, is very excited about going to the show. She's taking some days off work so she can do all the days.
Thanks! I'm looking forward to going and I really, REALLY hope I get a chance to go to Rafiki's. I'll be trying my best!

Good luck with it all. I'd loved to be able to take my dogs with me on vacation so think of it as a little added bonus. They get to have their competition and you get to have Disney
Thank you!! I pass through Marlton on almost all of our trips to a competition. The most common one in the area is in Swedesboro, and there's one there almost every weekend.

Now, Lisa is considering driving straight through without the overnight stop in South Carolina. That was my original plan and I hope it works out. But since it STILL isn't 100% decided, I'm getting a little anxious about it. I'd prefer to do it all at once. Between the two of us driving, it'll be fine. (Famous last words )
Good news : I ordered the MVMCP tickets!! Now we're officially going there.
I still have lots to do, and lots of things to buy. Some of my Kohl's cash expires tonight so I'll be going after work and looking for a nice outfit for our Cali Grill dinner. I'll update more on the to-do list soon!

Things are creeping along -- actually, they're moving really fast!
A lot of stuff is coming together for the trip.
I finally ordered our MVMCP tickets
Our Disney pins came in the mail. I usually order a bunch on eBay because most of the time they send crappy ones that you don't mind trading.
I'm getting some spending money together so I'm not living like a hobo this trip
I found two possible outfits for our Cali Grill dinner
I bought a new pair of sneakers at Kohls - after a gift card and some Kohls cash they only cost $4.99!
I tracked down Layla's special collar/leash I ordered. I wanted something special to commemorate the occasion and found a lady that makes AWESOME leashes. Once she makes it, I'll upload a pic, but it'll have the logo for the Invitational, then Layla's name, and the leash part is a fuzzy tug braid. It's hard to describe but it really looks snazzy. Except the woman wasn't answering my emails! I contacted her over a month ago telling her when I would need it by. She said no problem. But I still hadn't heard from her. She finally sent me an email asking if I got the Paypal invoice. I hadn't. She didn't write back for a day or two AGAIN. Finally I looked at the running order for the competition (they publish the order that you're running in so you can plan how early to get there - if there are 100+ people in your height and you're #99, you don't need to get ready asap) and I saw that she was listed, so she was going to be there too. Hmmmm! So I sent her one last email telling her that I see that she's listed on the running order and she can just bring the leash/collar with her to the show. Yes, a little stalker-ish, butttttt....she replied less than 10 minutes later INCLUDING my Paypal invoice. Surprise surprise! Maybe she just needed more time to do it, but then SAY so before you take the order. Whatever - as long as I get it!
I was having an issue with my drivers license and got that all resolved yesterday, so I can *legally* drive now
But, there's still a lot I need to do!
Pack
Laundry, so I have clean clothes TO pack
Find a large duffel bag (Lisa and I decided to skip suitcases and go for squishable duffel bags to add more room in her car)
Get my eyebrows waxed
Give myself a pedi (I'd go and get one done but my feet will be out and about for just one week in Florida before they're trapped back in winter shoes up here, and it just isn't worth the money for one week of toe exposure)
Decorate the house for Christmas
Send out all my Christmas cards
Print out the info for the competition, plus the ADR #'s, the Will-Call confirmations for both MVMCP and my park tickets (Lisa & Mary are buying their park tickets at the gate)
Cash some checks and cash in all the loose change I've been collecting
I'm sure there's a ton more but I can't think of the stuff yet.
I feel like I'm getting a bit of a cold so I'm taking massive amounts of vitamin C to try and cut it off.
One week from this minute I'll be at MVMCP! Only two more days of work (Friday & Monday) before I'm on vacation too. I CAN'T WAIT!

Just found this. How exciting, and exhausting. Can't wait to see how ya'll do in the competion Also, I'm very impressed by your choice of breed for the event. Malamutes can be a beautiful, stubborn handful And you do Obedience as well? Awesome.

Reason: Can't type...
What a pain that the leash lady was so unresponsive. I hope she has the leash with her at the show.
to ward off the cold! I've got one now, and it's no fun being sick at Disney!
Thank you! I took a massive amount of Vitamin C and that seems to have helped. GNC sells these delicious, addictive vitamin C chews and I just can't stop eating them. I feel better today though so hopefully that helped! If not, at least they were yummy That lady better have the leash with her It's not even an issue of the money (well, not much of an issue) but the fact is that I wanted this as a special memento. I didn't get to order any souvenirs (you need to pre-order shirts and things and frankly I didn't have the money when the order was due) so this is my big souvenir for the competition, and she better not have ruined it for me!

Thank you!! Yes a lot of people think I'm insane for doing it all with a malamute I love their stubborn personality though - it matches mine pretty well!
I have a lot to do tomorrow, unfortunately. I'm working 9 hours right in the middle of the day which interferes with a lot of plans, since stores will be open only while I'm at work.
I'm having a surprisingly hard time cashing checks. I have four checks to cash for spending money. I do have my own checking account but it's overdrawn. If I deposit the checks into my account I'll lose about $100 (the amount I'm overdrawn).
Actually as a side story, I'm a little annoyed by something else. My bank has one of those coin counting machines where they give you cash for your coin. For a few months I've been saving spare change. Not a whole lot, but a good enough amount. I went to the bank the other day to cash it in (and my checks) and they said since my account is overdrawn they couldn't give me the cash for the coin. I said fine, I'll just save the ticket. And they said they couldn't do that either because they need to count down the machine every night. UGH! I understand it's my fault for being overdrawn and the policy does make sense, but if they had that policy posted I could've taken the money to a public machine, paid $1.99 and gotten most of it back rather than having been forced into depositing it into my account! So that saved money is gone. It's not "wasted" since it'll all even out in the end but I really wanted the cash before my direct deposit goes in next Friday.
Anyway, I decided to keep the checks. $100 is a big amount to "lose". So I went to a check cashing business. I've never been to one before. They wouldn't accept two of the checks because they're personal checks, and the other is a business check and they wanted "documentation" with it to prove the reason it's given to me. Forget it!! So annoying.
Besides not being able to cross that off my to-do list, I did manage to buy some things I needed for the trip. Boring things like deodorant, contact solution, etc. I found a nice pair of shorts too (I don't have many pairs and it's supposed to be quite hot while we're there) but I don't care much for the colors on it. There were hardly any medium sizes left so I didn't have much of an option, so now after work tomorrow I'll have to stop at a store near my work and see if they have different colors. Plus tomorrow I'm getting my eyebrows done, doing massive amounts of laundry and starting to pack.
I'm meeting at Lisa's house at 8 pm Tuesday. We'll hopefully leave by 9 pm. I plan on sleeping most of the day Tuesday to be more rested for the overnight drive. We'll see how that goes! I don't know how I'll be able to sleep at all, let alone sleep during the day before we go.
