As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We usually on go to HS once during a trip there just is not that much there that we do. Cars would be something that would interest the Grandkids as it would us too. The stunt show we watched once and wouldnt do that again. It would be nice to have something else to go on at HS. toy story is fun but such long lines even at the fast pass location long lines.

Love the Magic of Disney Thanks Dad for our first 5 trips.
I can do without the entire backlot. I usually spent 1/2 a day at HS anyway. I'm hoping next week to spend an entire day cause I plan on going on more rides thanks to photopass +
Cars land would cetainly balance out the princess factor at WDW. I like LMA. I thought it was fun and I've seen it several times.
What I want is a muppet land. Expand the one sad attraction into several and give me a chance to get my photo with Kermit the Frog! Not that I don't love Mickey, but Kermit has a special place in my heart.

If you read this article here Is A Huge Expansion “In Production” For Disney’s Hollywood Studios? | WDW News Today it sounds like that could be coming. Of course too, as I read the article, some of it sounds too far-fetched to me to actually happen. I said "yeah, right" to myself a couple of times. Cars Land is one thing but it talks about the Sorcerer's hat going away (not likely IMO), Pizza Planet being replaced by Muppets (again not likely IMO) and a few other things just don't "add up." Especially when you consider the fact that whenever we go to MuppetVision, it's never a full theater. I've even been in that Muppet Store and it's never overly busy. Why would Disney expand on something that's not playing to a full house?

Not to mention that Pizza Planet is positively PACKED every time we're there at lunchtime. Last trip, I decided we would eat dinner there instead of lunch, and what a great idea that was...sooooo much less crowded at dinner time.
I think an expansion/revamp of DHS is a few years away. First, they have to finish Fantasyland and then add Avatar to AK. DHS will probably get the next redo after that.
I love the muppets movie. It is usually pretty busy when i go but I can't imagine changing pizza planet.
I was super excited about a Star wars land. i did read somewhere that George Lucas said he looked forward to developing more attractions for Disney.
I guess we will see what the future holds for Hollywood Studios.
I can't imagine getting rid of the Hat. The hat is the icon and goes quite well on the t-shirts with the tree of life, spaceship earth and the castle. Can't imagine the theater being the icon put on t-shirts
I just have to comment on the "response to WWOHP" issue. Yes, Universal and IOA saw an uptick this past year. They were still listed as the #15 (US) and #10 (IOA) theme parks in terms of attendance. Disney Parks hold the top 8 spots. (MK, DL, TDL, TDS, DLP, EP, AK, DHS) I really don't think Disney is super worried about losing visitors to US/IOA.

It was mentioned in one of the articles linked above that the Star Wars area would be undergoing some changes. I've always wondered why there was not much more focus put on that area - I cannot even fathom the huge crowds that would flock to a fully fleshed-out "Star Wars Land". I know I have several friends who are totally anti-Disney, and even they would be first in line to see a huge SW expansion.
I agree with the pixar place idea. Move toy story mania, re theme the honey I shrink the kids play gournd to bugs life, add some cars attractions, add some monsters inc stuff.
I also agree with the Star Wars idea. I'm not a big Star Wars fan, but.... Those people are Cray Cray! I'm a Harry Potter nerd and that would be the ONLY reason I would go to IoA.

We loved Cars Land and think it would completely change DHS at least for our family. We never spend an entire day at DHS now, usually we are hard pressed to spend even half of a day. (unless we decide to eat at a TS restaurant, that brings us to half a day) We have seen all the shows, but no one wants to see them twice. There is just not enough to do. We are not the type to wait in the long standby line for TSMM if a fastpass if not available. We get in at rope drop, do the big stuff and then wonder where to go. My kids, all ages, just don't really find enough to do. I understand that some folks don't want to see the same thing that is at Disney's California Adventure. I don't really understand this... Cars Land is really great, tremendous theming with the potential to occupy guests for long periods of time and bring in big bucks. But I get that Disney is highly unlikely to just start the whole thing again in Florida. I love the idea of re-theming the stunt show, but I think the park will still have the problem of "not enough to do" for many families. Pixar Place would be awesome... heck, anything with a theme, some shopping and please, please, please some new eating options would be a welcome addition : )
Hmmm,I'd for one miss the stunt show. That being said,I do think Cars has a definite huge following. Maybe they both can work, but who knows. Funny thing about some of the "rumors" on sites. Coop and I did the "lunch with an imagineer" last year, and our host imagineer,John, told us that Disney watches a lot of fan boards and really respects our opinions.
