Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I am thinking the same thing. We will be there in August. Lines heat and crowds are hard on everyone, but my ASD DD (7) just cannot handle it. We skipped Nemo on our last trip and wanted to see it again this year. I am willing to pay for a meal to get the priority seating. Will her GAC help?

Pirate cruise and food allergies?

We are thinking of doing the Pirate Cruise for our kids in August (5,8, 10).

According to DIS: Lunch is usually Peanut butter and jelly Uncrustables, Goldfish crackers, Rice Krispee Treat and fruit punch juice box

My youngest child has a severe dairy allergy and cannot have Uncrustables, goldfish or rice krispie treats. My oldest has a very mild peanut allergy, (we do not even mention it since it is so mild). But he cannot eat peanut butter. I know WDW is amazing with food allergies at restaurants so I assume they can make necessary accommodations...but does anyone have experience with what that may look like?

Also...How much time is this experience for the kids? We are doing a split stay and thought this would be great on the day we move from POR to OKW (also happens to be our 15 year anniversary...so it would be nice to have a bit of alone time...).

Thanks!

What are the resort kids clubs like?

We are considering using one of the resort kids clubs so me and DH can have a private dinner (probably GF while we eat at Narcoose's). My kids will be 5, 8 and 10. I can imagine that the youngest and oldest would be very interested in having other kids to play with midway through our trip.

However, last trip, we did the DVC tour and the kids spent the 90 minutes in their kids activity center. They could not wait to get out of there! There were only a handful of kids, and most of them were pretty young. My DS in particular was bored and annoyed.

If we do it, I want to make sure it will not be just a break for the adults but also a fun activity for the kids. Any feedback is appreciated!

The pin code I got was good for most summer dates. So hopefully something will be coming your way!

Do you have AAA? I moved our reservation for June to AAA simply to get the AAA diamond parking pass and the parade area (yes I know I have to make reservations for that, but the possibility alone is worth it because my youngest cannot handle the waiting around it would take to get a good view).

I also have a question about the GAC - my youngest (2) was recently placed on an IEP for communication disorder sympotomatic of ASD. Do you need to bring his IEP with us to talk with a CM about at GAC?

In response to your pirate cruise question - I called to talk with a CM having the same concerns about my four year old's allergy. He told me that I could always pack safe foods in his back pack and remind the crew at departure. The food allergy is noted on the reservation, and "the highest attempts will be made to accomodate" him, but with all things, they cannot gaurantee what the choices would be.

The diamond parking pass is for the parking areas for the parks - it's essentially an area closest to the handicap parking. We show the pass, along with our KTW cards and our resort parking pass and we get spots a bit closer to the front (nice when you're hauling the double stroller around).

Here is the link to my first TR.

http://www.passporterboards.com/forums/sharing-adventure-disney-world-trip-reports/220079-great-disney-do-over-ptr-aug-2010-updated-8-2-a.html

Go directly to page 6 if you want to read about the first time we got the GAC. It is a pretty emotional TR and without the lead up...it may be hard to realize what led us to that office on that day.

Honestly...I would see how things go before jumping into the GAC. A 2-year old does not have the same needs to avoid standing in lines as older kids may have. Especially considering that there are many things the 2-year old will not be able to do anyway. I wanted very much to do disney as a "normal" family.

About the AAA and parking...We are not currently AAA members but that would not be a huge benefit for me. We usually take WDW transportation to the parks and we have generally avoided parades anyway (we cannot find spots an hour early...).

Links to my prior TR's

I thought it was about time I found the links to my other TRs and posted them here. The first is a drama-filled TR of a first-time family visiting the world as a part of a GG. The second was an amazing trip that was made so mostly because of the lessons we had learned the first time around.

I'm not sure about the GAC and the line for Finding Nemo. I'm hoping someone else here might have experience.

I am so glad you started this and can't wait to hear about your savings. Wish I could help with the kids clubs or the pirates league questions, but I have no idea about that stuff.

I hope someone on here can offer advice with it, because it would be nice to spend some time for your anny!

As far as your ADR selections, that is always the hardest part for me! I will say that CMC is a must do on our list...thanks to your TR. I also love 1900 park fare for dinner. I haven't done breakfast there yet.

I can say I would book more of that stuff when you at not at the villas. Once at the villas you can do much more with breakfast right in the room.

Can't wait to hear more...Got to love the survey sites!

Hi Shelly. My boys did the GF pirate cruise for the second time last year. If I remember correctly, I think we had somewhere between 1.5 -2 hours to ourselves. We didn't plan well, plus I was afraid not to make it back on time, so we ended up just hanging out at GF. It was a nice time. We had CS breakfast. I shopped at Basin. Then we hung out on the "beach". Unfortunately, the boys were less than thrilled. They said it was way too hot. We were there in August. I just got to work, but I will chime in about the kids clubs at lunch, lol.

As far as the kids' clubs, we tried Sandcastle Club at BC for the first time last summer and the boys loved it. DH and I went to dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse for our anniversary. When it was time to get the boys, they were so upset. They wanted DH and I to leave and "find something else to do". They later told me they had so much fun. They played with other kids and CM's. They even got dinner from Cape May Cafe. I got to pick what they'd eat when I dropped them off. I can't wait to do it again in June (neither can the boys). I will try a different club since we are staying at WL.
