The WHAT?! juicy cheesecake?!,pinkpajamaswithpenguinsonthebottom,dr eam sea adventure - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After we enjoyed that beautiful sight, we went down to the arcade to join Caitlyn, Caleb, and Kat.
We spent just a short time in there and then went back to our room. We saw our second towel animal!
That night’s dinner was at the Enchanted Garden.
I didn’t get a very good picture of the menu...
We ordered and waited for the food. That night, Alwayne, our assistant server had all our drinks memorized. He didn’t have to ask and set the drinks in front of the right person. He got it right every night after that! We were really impressed with that.
I took pictures with:
Nio he’s a cutie
And my parents <3 who I barely saw on this trip 0 Sorry mom and dad!
For the appetizer, I had the North Atlantic Lobster Ravioli. This was really good, but I liked my pasta appetizer from the previous night.
For the soup, I had the Heirloom Tomato Soup, of which I did not get a picture. It was good too
For the main course, I had the Slow Roasted Prime Rib. That was a lot of meat! But it was one of my favorite main courses. It was really juicy and cooked just right (I asked for it to be medium well) and just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
YUM! For dessert, we asked our main server, Gabor, what he recommended. He immediately recommended Sacher because it was a dessert from his country PUT IN COUNTRY OF HIS HERE WHEN YOU REMEMBER. We also got a language lesson!! He taught us the correct pronunciation of ‘Sacher’. That conversation was really funny. Gabor was so awesome. and it’s pronounced like za-herr, in case anyone was wondering
It was extremely rich and chocolatey. Which is what I like in desserts
We got complimentary desserts! I forgot what they were, but the chocolate one was extremely bitter when you first put it in your mouth, because of the cocoa powder on the outside. As you bit into it though, it turns out to be extremely chocolatey and gooey. And the orange one was like an apricot jelly I think. I think you can tell, I’m more of a chocolate person, than a fruit person when it comes to desserts
We finished dinner and took some pictures with our parents
We went back up to our parent’s room to hang out for a little bit and I took a picture of their towel animal
And the artwork on their wall
After dinner, we wanted to spend some time with our parents, and there was an adult hypnotist show that night in Evolution. Unfortunately, Caleb couldn’t come But he went to go look at his age group’s club. We went down to Evolution just as the show was beginning. It was a comedy hypnotist show, and he asked for some volunteers to go onstage. There was a rush to the stage, people literally ran to get on. We all wanted to volunteer but we were pretty far in the back so we didn’t even attempt to get onstage He did some test to see if you could be hypnotized, some people got sent back to their seats, and others replaced them. It was hilarious! One of the things I remember was this old woman who was there with her husband. The hypnotist put them all under a trance, and went into the audience to the lady’s husband. He told him to shout “cookie!” when he signaled him. So the hypnotist goes back onstage and tells the woman that whenever she hears “cookie”, to go over to her husband and give him a big ol’ smooch haha. Also whenever he yelled it louder and more often, the more passionate the kiss would get. Everyone was cracking up. I also remember this one guy, he looked pretty young, who I thought was the funniest. At one point the hypnotist told him that this woman’s purse was his and that he loved it. As soon as he woke up from his trance, he immediately started staring at the purse, which was on the chair next to him. The hypnotist told him that he could wear it, so he slung it on his shoulder and clutched at that thing for dear life! It was a good time spent with the adults, with lots of laughter going on. Caitlyn and Ciara were not convinced it was real. I thought it was! How would they get that many great actors onstage before the show? Also, the young guy’s (the one I mentioned earlier) family was a little bit in front of us, and they were all laughing really hard. Many of them were taking videos and pictures of the guy and they definitely sounded surprised at some of the things he did. I believed it

Enchanted Garden and Exploring the Ship Continued2
We said goodnight to the grown ups, but I was definitely not ready to call it a night! It was too early for me. Caitlyn and Ciara decided to stay in the room and call it a night so I asked Caleb if he would like to explore the ship with me. He did :yay: So off we went to have an adventure and to document it all on camera!
We started in the lobby atrium. I really suggest going around late at night; there’s barely anyone around and you can take your time to appreciate all the details put into the Dream.
The detail is really amazing though
Absolutely gorgeous! The lobby atrium was where most of the character greetings happened. We did occasionally see characters wandering around though. We were in line for the Aquaduck when we saw Donald Duck! We didn’t have our camera, sadly, but that didn’t stop us from waving hello!
Then I told Caleb to pose like Mr. Donald Duck. and I took a turn
We then took the elevators up to Deck 11 to see the ship at night! It was beautiful.
Caleb wanted to show me his club, so we went to the forward of the ship where it was located. If I had been looking for the place by myself, I would have gotten lost! That club is really out of the way, which I’m sure the teens love. We got there but didn’t really look around that much, so off we went to our next destination!
We checked out all the sports stuff on deck 12. The minigolf course was cute, but we couldn’t find a golf ball so we didn’t do that. We found a foozball table and started playing but then it started drizzling! I didn’t mind at all though. Caleb wanted to play ping pong but I was concerned about the ball going over the railing :O The ping pong table is close to the railing of deck 12! And, Caleb and I get extremely competitive and overenthusiastic when playing against each other. So I could see one of us hitting the ping pong ball over the edge and flailing all over the slippery deck trying to save the ball. haha so that was a no. We went back down to deck 11 and took pictures!
Caleb posed like this -___-. I wasn’t even trying to take his picture, I was trying to get a picture of the poster!! hahaha. You can see some rain on his shirt
I took some pictures of Flo’s Cafe and then of our favorite daily stop.
Then we went inside
We went to those lovely murals and took pictures: Caleb posed like what he thought a prince would look like... and I sat next to the Cinderella mural <3
Then we had some fun in the HUGE port holes!
And paused to contemplate the beauty of the light
These really show you how big the lobby atrium is.
I took some pictures of Caleb in the elevator
Okay, before these next few pictures I feel like I have to explain something. Does anyone know what planking is? Well, here’s an explanation if you don’t! Planking became a fad with people just this past year. It’s basically acting like a plank, you lay yourself in the plank position which is face down, and hands down by your side, on a floor, or wherever you can come up with. Well, this fad caught up to my cousin. So, these pictures are of him....planking.
On the elevator
In front of the chandelier
And this one's my favorite: On a port hole
This boy... hahaha
I did not join in because I had a dress on.
We went back to the elevators and took a few silly self portraits of ourselves before returning to our room. We put on our pjs and within (I swear) 2 minutes, Caleb was snoring. I don’t know how that boy falls asleep so fast.
In no time though, I was asleep as well (Just not as fast as my baby cousin!)
We had another early day at Castaway Cay the next morning and we were really excited to see Disney’s own private island. Our second and final excursion was also scheduled for that morning: Snorkeling!

My Disney Dream Cruise summer 2011 Disney Dream
We woke up early this morning to get ready for snorkeling at Castaway Cay! Our excursion ticket said to meet up at Marge’s Barge, which was very close to the ship. Before we got there, we had our picture taken with the Dream as the background.
How beautiful is the Disney Dream? We then went to our meeting spot where we waited for about twenty minutes. During that time, we took pictures! I remember it was really hot that day. The sun was also extremely bright which caused some squinty eyes.
I took a lot of pictures of the Dream and of the beautiful water. I remember I didn’t feel too well this morning. I think it was the sun and heat, but as soon as we got on the catamaran and the breeze from the boat started going, I instantly felt much better. Plus I wasn’t going to let anything ruin this day!
I loved Sorcerer Mickey and the brooms on the ship. Fantasia was my favorite movie growing up, which my mom didn’t understand because it was just all music. I remember wanting to watch it all the time though.
These were taken when we were on the catamaran. When we got onboard, we were handed our snorkel and life jacket. We sat along the sides and they started going to our destination. While we were going to our snorkeling destination, we lined up for our flippers. They asked what our shoe size was and handed us a pair of flippers.
This picture is one of my favorites from the trip... i feel like I've told you that a picture is one of my favorites a hundred times... haha I have a lot of favorites and I can't choose just one!
I think we were all a little nervous about getting into the water, we didn’t know how deep it was. We were really eager to get into the water though. They stopped the catamaran and we all started to get into the water. The water felt amazing! It was cool, and also was a relief from the hot sun. The thing I was looking forward to, besides the actual snorkeling, was taking pictures underwater! I have a waterproof camera that I’ve had for a couple of years now. It’s green and it looks pretty beat up right now (it’s also shock proof; perfect for me!) but I love it and take it with me everywhere.
All ready for some snorkeling
Here are some of the best shots I got underwater:
Uh... I’m not sure what kind of pose Ciara was going for here... Maybe a crab?
It took a little while for me to try and figure out the snorkel. At first I couldn’t see anything underwater, and I thought it was my contacts. But, it turned out it was because I was breathing out through my nose when I put the mask on, fogging up the lens. You had to get used to breathing only through your mouth.
I didn’t like the life vest because every time I went underwater, the life vest would stay above water and be tight around my neck. My cousin took hers off at one point, but the guide immediately told her to put it back on. I totally understand why though, it was pretty deep and safety comes first.
There’s our catamaran! And you can see a few people’s heads bobbing above water. Don’t you just love that blue sky? <3
Here are a few more shots underwater:
I was stalking this yellow and blue fish! It was fast. I needed a picture though, the colors were so pretty!
And after our time was up (it felt so short) we paddled back to the boat. When we removed the flippers, it felt really good! I don’t know how to describe it, but it was like having weights lifted off your feet, that feeling of relief. We all really enjoyed the snorkeling. I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy seeing fish and wearing flippers! The ride back was nice, they offer you drinks and you get a nice view of the island and the Dream.

We didn’t really know what we were doing, so we didn’t take the tram because we thought it was going to Serenity Bay. We were wrong, it went to the family beach, which we were headed for. So, we walked. Now, I don’t think it was such a long walk. But while we were walking, we thought it was long! I think it was because we had been swimming, and we were walking in the hot sun.
Soon enough (not!) we made it! Does anyone know what that shop is called? The one you first see when you get on Castaway Cay? Well, we got there and looked around for a little bit.
And I took these two pictures through the open window
These pictures really take me back to that moment, looking through the window and seeing the Dream among palm trees and sand. We took a little detour when we saw a dance party happening with Mickey and Minnie. Ciara and Caitlyn got pulled in to dance, which me, Caleb, and Kat enjoyed watching I only got one picture, but that one is a little awkward with a random lady in a bathing suit, so I’ll leave it out.
I absolutely love this picture. Ciara took it and I didn’t know she was taking pictures. But can you tell how happy I am?
Oh, I hope my cousin doesn’t hunt me down when she sees I put this one up.. But I can’t help it! It got us cracking up. Ciara took this one also:
That’s Caitlyn She was really hot and didn’t want to get in the water just yet so she threw a towel over her head and sat in a beach chair
Then we started to have some fun in the water
This is how I feel about Caleb:
Haha, no, I’m joking, we actually love each other:
See?
My three cousins<3 Did I mention that I’m the oldest out of the four of us? Ciara and Caitlyn are both younger than me by six months and Caleb’s the baby, four years younger than the three of us. So, in a way, (even though I see Caitlyn and Caleb only a few times a year) I feel responsible for them. They’re practically, if not, my younger brother and sisters. Which is just as good as having siblings, especially since I’m an only child.
Here’s the four of us, excuse my blinking, it was bright out and I don’t know how Ciara and Caitlyn kept their eyes open.
Ciara got on Caleb And if you look closely you can spot me and Caitlyn in the background, with me hanging on to her and giving her some loving
It was during this time that a photographer was making his way around the water taking pictures. I don’t have them on my computer, I guess they weren’t there when I scanned the pictures from Shutters onto my computer. I’ll upload them when I get the chance! Anyways, He took our pictures and then walked away. Wait... he didn’t ask for our room keys or ask for our names... so how were we going to get our picture? We were so confused! So I caught up with the photographer and he told me not to worry, that the computer would recognize our faces and we’d see them later. I was pretty amazed, and so were my cousins when I told them. Sure enough, the photos were there at Shutters when we checked! That was so cool!
Then I tried to get on Caleb’s shoulders and it failed.
I couldn’t stay on because he wouldn’t keep still! It was hilarious though, as you can see
This is my “no Caleb, it’s not your turn to get on my shoulders” look.
We were in the water for about 30-45 minutes. Then we went to go eat! We were starving! They had barbeque And it all tasted fantastic! I think more so because: we had snorkeled, swam, had a dance party with Mickey and Minnie, and took pictures all on CASTAWAY CAY. All those made the food taste 100 times better, I think. No pictures of the food, I think that was the last thing on all of our minds. We devoured our food. My favorite was the cookies! Yum! Oh, this reminds me, Caitlyn and Caleb saw our server, Gabor, out on the barbeque line. I think that was one of my favorite parts of the cruise. You got to know the crew members around you. They were everywhere, and they somehow remember you. It was really great, it makes you feel comfortable. You’ll see, later on in this trip report, how we meet some more crew members.
After we finished eating, we split up. Caitlyn, Caleb, and Ciara wanted to go back to the ship while Kat and I wanted to explore Castaway Cay a little more. So we went our separate ways, with Kat and I going towards Pelican Plunge. Along the way, we saw a hair braiding station, and considered getting one but decided against it. Meanwhile, while Kat and I made our way to the other end of the island, Caitlyn, Caleb, and Ciara took these pictures:
Ciara later showed this picture and told me she fell off the hammock.
Knowing her, I don’t doubt it haha
Caitlyn and Caleb posing by these things... not sure what they’re called but they’re cute!
Back to Kat and I; we ran into our parents! My camera had run out of battery I was a little sad because while we were walking towards Pelican Plunge, I saw so many photo opportunities! Especially of the Disney Dream. But it’s okay because my parents had their camera
Here is me, Kat, Nio, and Anri. Wow, we all look really dark:
I tan very easily.
Kat and I on hammocks! Those were so comfy! and relaxing.
My parents and I:
Look at that view!
After taking some pictures, we all wanted to shop a little. So we went to the other store which is located near pelican’s plunge. Guess who we saw there? Caitlyn, Caleb, and Ciara! We thought they had left already! Turns out, they also wanted to do some shopping. We all got bracelets, those leather ones where you can get your names or something carved into them. We all got different ones that said “Bahamas, 2011” Those three left again, while we were still looking around. My mom also got a bracelet that said Bahamas. After we finished shopping, we got on the tram to get back on the Dream. When we paused to drop off some people at the family beach, guess who we saw again? That’s right! Caleb, Ciara, and Caitlyn. They were waiting for a tram to pick them up, which ours wasn’t. We waved goodbye as the tram drove on towards the ship. At the ship, there was a really long line to get on. To get on, they have to scan each person’s room key. I don’t know why they were taking so long though, the day before at Nassau, it was really quick. They sent out Goofy to keep the waiting guest entertained .
Then, guess who passed by us? If you guessed Caitlyn, Caleb, and Ciara...then you are CORRECT! haha, they were walking fast towards the other end of the ship, where they had opened up another entrance. We hadn’t noticed! We followed them and were quickly on board, faster than the people who were in the first line. We ran back up to our rooms because the elevators were jammed full of people! When we got to our room, we saw a note inviting us to pirate night, along with pirate bandanas. Which will be in the next part of this story

Gosh, I really hope I haven't lost anyone who was reading along! I'm so sorry about the delay! I've been really busy with classes and I recently got a job. Believe me, I'd rather be lost in the memories of my cruise and writing this trip report than doing stats homework Anyways, I promise the next part is coming soon!
Thanks for reading
