Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

That is an awesome idea, I am totally packing a small bin on our next trip!

Not something that I've ever forgotten but we don't go anywhere, Disney included, without baby wipes or antibacterial wipes. Baby wipes clean up everything!!! They are great for wiping up tables, cleaning hands, cleaning faces and getting food stains out of kids clothes (and occasionally the hubbys shirts too !).

Oh I love the ziplock bag idea. I just turned to my DH and said why did we not think of that?? Lol I am not going until December and think I better start a list of things to bring/do before the trip. Tee hee.
I know we got the idea from here or another site to print out labels for post cards. We would print out our family and friends address on labels and bring it with us. Less space needed for address book and it is easy to just peel and stick at the end of the day!
Also I bought those metal drinking bottles. The 'earth friendly' kind I think I got them at WalMart or Big Lots. What was nice was that we would fill them with ice the night before. By the time we got to the parks it would be melted enough to enjoy but still be cool. They took up some space but saved me big money on bottled water and they stayed colder then any other bottles I have used.

I don't have anything new to add here... Like many here, we do ziplocs, power strips and wipes. I love the idea of the little basket / bin for the room though!

I started bringing one of those totes that fold into a small pouch. It's amazing how we end up accumulating unworn jackets, sunglasses, new purchases or other things that won't fit into our backpack. That way we have an extra bag that can be thrown over the shoulder if we need it. I like having clorox wipes for mishaps in the room too.

I've done this one ever since dd was little, I'm sure it's the OCD in me. I bring child size hangers for the kids clothes and even a few padded hangers for some of my nicer tops. I just put them in the pouch inside the suitcase. It lets me iron the kids clothes the night before (or all at one time if I'm lucky) and have them ready to go the next day. I have yet to figure out to pack clothes so they don't get wrinkled.

I bring lots of hangers and hang most of my clothes and some of DH and DS's. Have you tried rolling your clothes before placing them in the suitcase to keep them from getting wrinkled? It works for me.

I make an Ultimate Packing list in word doc and even keep a list of what is what where and I dont have to remember...
We drive so things can get a little tossed about by the time we make it there. We also have a park bag ready to go. I wont know what to do next time without diapers!!
Also we make our park bag a clear one for ease of security, the guards love em!

I'm glad to hear someone else brings hangers! I like my clothes on padded hangers although hubby doesn't mind the wooden ones. And with 4 of us in a room I find it helps to be able to hang stuff up and save drawer space for under things, socks and bathing suits. I've never tried rolling things, I might have to try it. I always worry it's going to end up taking up more space, you'd be amazed at how much I can get into a suitcase!

I also have my "To Pack List" in a word doc. When it's time to pack I print it and check off each item as it goies into the suitcase.

HOWEVER, I never thought to add Park Tickets to the list. Our trip last month we bought our Park passes from AAA before the August price hike. Not that it mattered. Somewhere over Virginia I looked at my husband and informed him the tickets were in my dresser in Boston. Well, we'll have them for our next trip after my birthday trip next month.

That's my biggest fear right now. We bought Annual Pass Vouchers and I worry about forgetting to take them along! I put them in my Passporter, so hopefully all will be okay. Also took pictures of the backs of them with my phone... and scanned them and put a copy in my Passporter and sent one to my email address... just in case. I know... a bit much, but I keep worrying about it.
What I need to do is keep a box with all of my "Disney Trip" stuff all together. I seem to have misplaced my Passporter Pouch. I guess I'll have to order another one. Can't go to Disney without it! It's invaluable!

I started bringing hangers because I used to hang up an entire outfit for the boys, (pants, t-shirt, socks stuffed in the pocket, underwear over the neck of the hanger) on one hanger so in the morning they just picked out what they wanted to wear and it was all there. Now they take care of their own clothes of course, thier strategy is to throw it all in a pile and dig through it. Oh! where did I go wrong! LOL!

I am just updating my packing list since we leave in less than two weeks and this list helped me tremendously!

We bring MANY of the items already listed but a few others I find helpful are:
  • Purex Laundry sheets (all in one, detergent/fabric softener/dryer sheets - I get the unscented kind for my allergies) - so nice not worrying about liquid leaking in your luggage!
  • Coffee/Coffee Filters - We stay in DVC and they NEVER leave enough for every day
  • Sunblock, sunblock, sunblock! (I skimmed above so it may have been listed)
  • Outlet covers/cabinet locks for a troublesome toddler, lol
  • Raincoats (lightweight easy to pack kind) - I'm not a fan of the ponchos
  • Sound machine - ours is small but it really helps to keep the lil one asleep when sharing a room with a snoring daddy or mommy, lol
  • Eyedrops (can you tell I have bad allergies?)

My wife always packs enough handi wipes for everyone in WDW to wash their hands, but we always use them all. No one has mentioned bringing their Mother-in-law to schlep all these things around the park in her Mary Poppins magic bag.
