As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like typical hotel/resort issues, not all ppl can be pleased all the time. My family(a large group) will be staying at CBR this dec. we understand that the resort is spread out and understand that there will be alot of children around and we will be traveling with the expectation of "FUN" and let the little things slide. I read this whole post but i didnt see your explanation of Unfriendly cast members as far i seen they did everything they could for you.. The only issues i have ever had with WDW was the transportation to the value resorts from the parks at the end of the night .. this is the reason we are staying at the moderate resort this time. I hope next time you have a better stay!

Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
We will also be staying at CBR Nov. 30th - Dec. 6th and I am looking forward to it. The negative complaints I have seen most about this resort are that it is so spread out, but I like the idea of it feeling more islandy that way. I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy your stay, but it does sound like they tried hard to make it better for you. I hope your next trip is much happier for you!
I do think that having an adjoining room made the noise level much louder for you. We were once given an adjoining room at ASMu. When we walked in the room, we could hear the young children next door, almost as if they were in our room. We immediately went down and asked for a different room. We have stayed at ASMu three times and have never heard anyone, except for the short time we were in the room with the adjoining door.
sorry to hear that. we stayed there a couple of years ago and had a great time. the front desk manager graciously replaced a suitcase destroyed by the airline. It was a little more spread out than i would have preferred, but enjoyed it otherwise.

Sorry! We love CBR and its our favorite resort, however, we had a similar experience at POR this past September and I can't WAIT to be a Caribbean Beach again!
How disappointing, especially if you had been planning the trip for a long time. If you haven't already done so, I would write to guest relations at WDW. They need to know when stuff like this happens.

sorry that you didn't seem to enjoy your stay there; we have plans of going there in June. Everyone is aware that it is spread out, but they did not seem to mind. I guess it is just the luck of the draw; as with everything else in life. Sometimes the machine works fine, sometimes it doesn't. Me personally, I would have knocked on the neighbors door and asked them to keep the noise level down. If that didn't fix the problem, then call the front desk and make them aware of it. If that doesn't work, crank up the radio at 4:00 am and put it directly on the wall that leads to thier room, and then begin banging on the walls and yelling like lunatics (naw, I'm just kidding.....sort of).
I just got back a month ago and stayed in the CBR as well... I wouldn't choose that one again either... in the end, it seemed WAY too much work on the guests part to relax and enjoy... sorry you didn't like it either!

I'm sorry you had a rough hotel stay. I agree that Caribbean Beach is expensive and you'd like to make sure you got your monies worth. As for hearing the kids, you can do that at any of the Disney hotels. We had a screaming little boy, his name was Anthony, next to us at the Yacht club. My DH and I felt like you did, okay it's Disney you have to expect kids and their noise. But the second night of Anthony screaming and jumping on beds and bouncing a ball against our wall at 1 a.m. all that went out the window. My DH knocked and the door and explained some hotel etiquette to Anthony's parents. But I remember being shocked at the time that Disney's hotels weren't better sound proofed. You can hear EVERYTHING.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. hopefully you still had some disney fun!
I stayed in November and didn't care for the resort either. I don't think I would stay there again either but then again I want to try out all the hotels.
the things I didn't like about it for those of you wanting to know - bus service was bad seemed like it took forever for the buses to come and this was every day I even said something to the CM writing down the times on the buses and he said the same thing - so I'm assuming they are working on. It's a big resort and not that I mind that I just think I'm spoiled by the campground - I love the carts!
