As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Tuesday was $70 for the haircut and color. Also spent 63 cents at AC Moore after a gift card. And $1.33 on a gallon of milk after coupons. Wednesday was $$$ on log siding to repair the side of our house where the siding was rotting away. Bad builder! Thursday was $2 at CVS after coupons and $15 on pizza and mozzarella sticks for dinner. Friday was $1.50 on a bagel for breakfast. Today was $42 at the hardware store for siding repair stuff. Sigh.
$0 for lunch because my favorite Passporter Wheatonwalker (Sheila) took me out to lunch for a belated birthday celebration. $40 at supermarket. Made salmon on cedar planks for dinner for the first time (it was good. DH got the cedar planks as a gift. Seems expensive to me to buy a plank to be used once to grill salmon!).
I've been glued to my laptop for days (working on the NaNoWriMo project) and haven't had time to do more than run to the grocery store every few days... and I have no idea how much I spent there, but it wasn't much.
Hubby is fixing a roof problem over our kitchen and sun porch, and I bet that cost a pretty penny, but it's a lot cheaper than hiring a contractor to do it.
Since I did a menu plan for November, we've been doing great on the food budget -- wow, what a difference that makes. No waste, plenty of leftovers for lunches, and simple, simple, simple foods.

Today was $0. I received a Fix It and Forget It magazine/cookbook and am making a recipe from there for dinner with ingredients I had on hand. It's the Scandinavian Bean Soup, so I'll let everyone know if it's a "keeper".
ETA: Yes, it's a "keeper", but it definitely needs a LOT more time to cook. The recipe calls for 4 hours, but it wasn't done after 7 and really took closer to 10 for the beans to get nice and tender, but it was flavorful!
I'm trying to hold off going to the grocery store until Thursday this week. We will have to do creative meal-planning to make that happen, but I'm hopeful!
We spent $2.25 at the grocery tonight. Yes, 2 dollars and 25 cents. And neither DH nor I had the 25 cents! So, we put it on the "charge" (bank debit card, run through as a charge).
Other than that, nothing today.
Next week: $175 for Kathryn's Senior Photos - but that's for the session and the CD with all 141 photos and the rights to all.
Plus, we have to send in the acceptance and deposit for Ball State!!! (although Kathryn wants to wait and see what she's offered from other universities).
Today worked in my favor! $20 refund from Target for DS's shoes that didn't fit, and $78 refund from the UPS store for the laptop I sent back last week that was supposed to be charged to Samsung!
No matter, I'll be in the red tomorrow when I head to Target with a long list!

I wound up with $4 for breakfast at Chick Fil A as a birthday "treat" on my way home from work (we were too busy for me to fix my oatmeal). Today was a grand birthday with practical gifts I actually asked for (a new lunch bag, a crockpot, stick blender, and battery-free emergency radio)
Target - $100 on a coat (that may get returned) a scarf, hat and mittens for my son.
Boscov's - $50 for another coat... he's deciding between the two
Whole Foods - $80 on gluten-free goodies I can't get anywhere else.
