Trip Report: Our First WDW Family Trip COMPLETED 11/6 - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just caught up with your trip report and am enjoying reading all about your great family. That Abby is some kind of adorable child..... I can't wait to read more. By the way, how is it your DH, Scott, has never seen Finding Nemo.....??
Sharon
We really enjoyed both of the princess breakfasts. If I had to pick only one for when we go back, I think it would be the one in EPCOT. CRT was great but I had upgraded our dining plan to have 1 TS, 1QS and 1 snack per person and I am not sure that CRT is really worth 2 TS credits per person. If we do go back in May 2011, we will be on the quick service dining plan. I would be willing to pay OOP for one princess breakfast and I think would definitely do Akershus in EPCOT. I know that Cinderella is not guaranteed there but she was there for us and if not we could always try to find her later in the trip. The food and service were great (the service was better in EPCOT than CRT) and the character interactions were great too. With that being said, I am soooo glad we did CRT. CRT is definitely something you should try to do with a little princess if possible. Like so many have said on here, it is something you want to do at least once.
BTW it was my DH, me and DD (3): Akershus would have been $86.24 plus tips, CRT would have been about $120.00 plus tips.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for your tips! We are going in February and upgrading to the "plus" dining plan. It's using 2 dining credits that is so hard for me to justify for a plated breakfast! OTOH, my girls would absolutely love the experience! Something to think about I guess.

Probably because for so long he was a bachelor... He is 45 and I am 32 so you can see he had a few years to do and watch what he wanted. Now that he has Abby and I, his TV choices are limited!!
I learned on this last trip that we have alot of catching up to do...He hasn't seen many Disney movies!!! Abby needs to catch up on a few classics also. My goal for our next trip is for Abby and Scott to be caught up on all the Disney classics!!!Sounds like we have a few movie nights in store for us!!!

I think for our next trip I will try for 1900 Park Fare. It has many of the Cinderella characters (stepmother, stepsisters, prince) I think Abby would like that one as Cinderella is her favorite princess movie and she was a little disappointed that we didn't find the stepmother, stepsisters, and prince. We did find the Fairy Godmother though.
CRT is definitely something you want to do at least once!!!

Day 3: Breakfast in Cinderella’s Castle
We planned to arrive for the opening ceremony at MK at 8, so we woke early again and ate in the room. We were told by a CM at the resort, that the first bus would leave at 7:00 and that we would probably want to catch that bus because if we waited for the next bus we might miss the ceremony. So we were waiting for the first bus by 7:00 and were boarding by 7:10. We waited until about 7:30
and then presented our KTTW cards and just had to wait for the ceremony. It started right at 8:00. I got a few pics of the Mayor, Mickey, Snow White and Mary Poppins.
The ceremony was very cute and I am glad we were able to catch it.
We entered the park on the left side and were trying to decide what we wanted to do first so we stopped off to the left just past the railroad station. As I was looking at the map, my husband noticed many of the characters coming down the steps from the train station and they passed right by us! (really cool)
We decided to head over to Fantasyland. Since we were there early, we were able to ride Pooh, the Teacups, the Carousel and Dumbo.
Then we just walked around and shopped a bit. Our reservations were for 10:10. We arrived around 5 minutes to 10 and then I went to check in. The CM told me she could not check me in until 10 minutes prior to our reservation so I went to the back of the line and then waited until my turn. I walked up right at 10:00. (that was easy)
We were quickly taken into the castle for our pics with Cinderella.
The interaction with Cinderella was great and Abby was really excited to see her in her castle. After our pics, we found a seat and waited about 5 minutes and then were called to our table. Our waiter took a while to come to us and when he finally came he was very rushed and not very friendly (ok 1 bad server out of our whole trip…not too bad). Beside the not so good service, we had a great time at CRT. The princesses (Belle, Aurora, Snow White, and Jasmie) were great and beautiful and the food was really good too.
We decided we were going to go over to EPCOT and do a little there but just as we exited the castle we saw a line and then realized it was the Fairy Godmother. Abby was really excited to get to see her.
From there we got on a bus and went to EPCOT. First up was club cool. Scott thought that Beverly wasn’t too bad, but thinking back he thinks it was because of the mint gum he had in his mouth.
I thought it was nasty as did Abby.
Then we were off to tour WS.
We checked out Mexico but skipped Norway as we saw it the day before. We headed over to China and met Mullan.
We took our time going through the WS and I was surprised at how big it was and how long it took us to get around it. When we got to France and noticed a short line and when I asked it was for Belle. I asked Abby if she wanted to see her again and of course she said “yes”. So we saw Belle again and then kept walking.
From there we decided we would head over to DHS to try to catch the Beauty and the Beast show. I remembered from Camm22’s Trip report that you could take a boat over to HS so that is what we did. It was nice ride and we arrived within 20 minutes. We caught the show just in time and did a few other things and then decided to get back on the boat. From here we decided to go to the Beach Club for some burgers and ice cream from Beaches and Cream (again something I learned from Cam22’s trip report--thanks). The Beach club is beautiful and the burgers and ice cream were great. We got to see about 5 kitchen sinks being served and Abby got a kick out of that.
(notice the family behind Abby had a kitchen sink also)
We left there around 9:30 and headed back to EPCOT for the pm EMH. We decided we would try test track.
We had to do the kid switch so it took about and hour for both of us to go through. Wow that was a fun ride. We both decided that we would do that again. From there we decided it was time to go back to the resort as we had been in the parks for about 13 hours and Abby was just about worn out.
Up next: Day 4: No ADRs but lots of other stuff and dinner with a cousin in Celebration!

Wow - I just can't believe you pulled off a 13 hour day with a 3 year old. We are hoping and praying our little one will be able to hang with us. You guys had a great day. Can't wait to hear more.
I just saw the kitchen sink on youtube today omgoodness! I have to get one! My kids will love it! Sorry about your waiter! Love seeing Abby in all her princess dresses!!
Great updates & pictures!!!! I so wanted to make it to opening ceremony, but didn't quite make it there on time. Next trip, I'll just have to head out earlier! What a great day you had!!!

I was thinking the same thing and in the picture of her in the car she is still smiling. That is awesome! Loved reading your TR, can't wait to hear more.
How cool, you can so see that your little one loves the princesses. I think that is awesome. My DD proclaimed that she is not into princesses anymore (almost 8) But when I said, oh I guess I'll just cancel our Akershus breakfast she changed her mind!

We were surprised at how well she did also. We were on the fence with getting the park hopper add on but in the end we decided to get it and boy was it worth it. When we noticed she was getting tired, we would hop over to another park and often she would fall asleep in the stoller before we made it out of the park. She would sleep on the bus or monorail and she usually ended up with about a 45 minute nap and some days she got 2. She still requires a 1 1/2 to 2 hour nap a day but I guess with all there was to do that was good enough.
Now, at night she would fall asleep on the bus and we couldn't wake her up until the next morning!!!

It is definitely something I would try to catch. I couldn't get the song out of my head all day. We got it on video on the second time we went to see it and Abby and I like to watch it over and over. It gets us excited about going back!!

I took that picture while Scott was riding Test Track. I went next and when I came out they were sitting on a bench where the riders exit and she was sound asleep covered with a Minnie bath towel that we bought to dry off after the rains.
That's when we realized we had been in the parks for 13 hours and it was time to go!
