As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I mean nothing is set in stone but Eric mentioned either going there or to their bar that is outside next to it. We really enjoyed having a drink there and people watching I think they are open till 11pm. Well the bar is for sure
I know we are game for either. I keep contemplating about changing my Sanaa reservation because 8:30 seems so late but I haven't really tried to see what else is available. Hmm maybe I should check into Raglan Road.

Our 830 ressie at Le Cellier that same night is ALLLL they had So, I wasnt going to pass it up. Plus for us we figure we will eat our way around the world anyway with the F&WF leading up to the dinner
I forgot to mention that Crissy had called me a couple of weeks ago to let me know that Beverage Seminars had been released. Now I remember hearing about these but for some reason I thought they were just walk up ones. Crissy and I tried to coordinate our schedules to fit in one of them together. It just didn't work out with ADR's and such. I was able to see the exact listing and go ahead and register with the DVC membership.
Since I grew up in the Northwest and moved before I was of legal age to drink I was intrigued by the Northwest offerings. So here is what DH and I will be doing on October 3rd.
4-4:45
Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery Pacific Northwest, Washington - Bob Surrency & John Sarich
6-6:45
Widmer Brothers Brewing, Northwest, Oregon - Kurt Widmer
For those who are interested in doing one of the Culinary Demonstrations or Beverage Seminars during the F&W Festival: if the program you wanted to attend is no longer available online my confirmation sheet does say that you can check at the Information Desk at the Festival Welcome Center for availability on the day of the event.

I think both of those look great! I know you will love them. I will have to say that the wine tastings and educational tastings that I have done over time has really helped me learn which wines I like and which ones I hate LOL

DH would kill to go to the Widmer. We re-located to the East Coast from Oregon a few years ago. I'll have to hope they have something similar when we go.

I am excited to hear if the ones you go to are as good as Eric has said. I might come out of this experience as an educated wino. J/K!

What part of Oregon? I grew up in the Portland area.
I miss Oregon. Especially in the summer or when I am in need of seeing an Ocean view. I haven't been home in a few years. It is time for another visit. I will have to PM you and maybe pick your brain about the East Coast my DH may be taking a job that direction.
I am going to have to do some research on Widmer but I am looking forward to trying it.

How's the trip planning? when are you going to start packing? bought anything for the trip???
Thanks so much on the congrats! Our boys are very similar in age and our first borns have the same name I noticed too - spelled differently I think, but still!

LOL! I love Food myself and a good girlie drink to boot.
Nothing really new on the Trip Planning. Heck, I am still waiting for my Disney mail. If I don't get it by Friday I am going to have to call Heather(TA) and see how come I am being deprived of some Disney mail.
I still need to write out a mini itinerary for my mom. They our deluxe one. Not quite the big deluxe one that Karen uses but a smaller version. Since this is sorta of a play it by ear trip. I will probably do that tomorrow night while Don is in Baltimore for an interview.
I will probably start packing the day you leave, the 28th. I pick my mom up at the airport after I get off that evening and I have the 29th off. So I think while Dillon is in school and mom is entertaining Grayson would be a good time.
I haven't really bought anything for myself. I did get Don a couple of shirts from the Disney Store online. I didn't see anything I just had to have. But I am keeping my eyes out for a good deal and a must have.

Yes, you are right they are spelled a little differently. Dillon is actually my maiden name. We used his first name from my side of the family and his middle name is my DH maternal grandmother's last name. And of course his last he got from the paternal last name. So I just tell everyone Dillon is all last names. It does get confusing sometimes when he hears my parents or his cousins say what their last name is, he thinks they are talking about him. So he just calls my mom Grandma D and my dad got nicknamed Grumpa from my nephew when he was learning to say Grandpa.

WE GOT DISNEY MAIL!!!
I really like the new way they have the vouchers put together in a book instead of loose pieces of paper.
We are finally in the teens.
I bought DH a few shirts online at the Disney Store. I bought myself a $5 black Halloween shirt that I will wear at MNSSHP if I don't find anything else I need.
I still need to make mousekeeper envelopes but I have the money set aside for that. DS knows that daddy and I are going on a vacation and is okay with it as long as we bring him back something Star Wars. I think we can manage that. Although when we picked DH up at the airport last night he made the comment that we haven't done a family trip to Disney World in a long time. He's right it has been over a YEAR(May 2009 was our last trip), that is a long time.
Not much longer and it will all be a reality.
