A Hidden Mickey Wedding and a Disneymoon with a newbie - PTR - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just like everything else I plan for with Disney vacations the park plans have changed numerous times. This trip I decided to give touringplans.com a go. The only problem is my 'traditional' order of parks wouldn't be followed. Plus to see the shows (ie. wishes, fantasmic, illuminations) it would involve a lot of park hopping. And it became very difficult to work around the ADR's I had already booked...with most of them being signature dining + le cellier it's really hard to change those around so I decided to go with what always works best when I have toured in the past...This way it looks like I might be able to remove the park hopping option and save us $100.
I won't even get started on what my ADR's first looked like when we booked because yes like an good obsessed Disney planner those have changed a lot too....
After many changes I have finally gone back to my original touring plan that will work best for me and DFi...here it is complete with our ADR's:
Sunday 19th - Arrival 6:30 pm (arrive on ME to AKL around 8:30 pm?) Relax, tour the lodge
Monday 20th - Sleep in, check out of AKL, head to Winter/Summerland for some mini golf, have Ken experience his first Earl of Sandwich sandwich in DTD then head to the Poly to check in. California Grill for dinner at 7:35 pm (hoping to catch Wishes there too)
Tuesday 21st - First park day! Arrive at MK around 7:30 am - Breakfast at CRT 8:05 am. Tour MK for the am - back to the Poly in mid afternoon to relax. Dinner at Narcoossee's at 7:30 pm (maybe we can catch Hallowishes from here?)
Wednesday 22nd - Epcot Day. Breakfast in CL lounge. Arrive around rope drop. Lunch at Le Cellier 1:10 pm back to the Poly to relax in the afternoon. Have dinner in the CL lounge at Poly. Head back to Epcot after dinner for illuminations/visit the W.S.
Thursday 23rd - Free Day. We keep playing around with the idea of visiting universal this day () but may just just this day to sleep in, realx by the pool, etc. No ADR's today - plan to use the CL lounge as much as possible for food - head to Hollywood Studios to see Fantasmic.
Friday 24th - Hollywood Studios Day. Breakfast in CL lounge. Plan for Rope Drop today because of TSM. Mid-Afternoon back to Poly to relax (may spend the day here though since there are a lot of shows we want to see: Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones, and Lights Motors Action) Dinner at Cape May Buffet at 5:30 pm.
Saturday 25th - Animal Kingdom Day. Breakfast in CL lounge. Plan for Rope Drop. back to Poly after lunch to relax. Dinner at Jiko 7:30 pm.
Sunday 26th - Fishing Day. Booked a fishing excursion leaving from Pp;y marina for me and DFi (10 am). Have lunch in the CL lounge. Relax at Poly. Dinner at Artist Point 5:35 pm. Head to MK for EMH evening. Watch Wishes (hopefully Wishes Dessert Party, if I can get it, if they release Sept dates) and enjoy MK one last time.
Monday 27th - Departure Day ME shouldn't be picking us up until around 3:45 pm so either way we plan to be at the bus stop 3:15-3:30 pm. That still leaves us with sometime to have a nice CL lounge breakfast and possibly finish up any park where we missed some attractions (Epcot/AK/HS/maybe even MK) My tradition is to stay in MK on the last day until I absolutely have to leave (well I do have to say goodbye to the castle!) but I will leave this up to DFi to see if there is anything he missed. Flight on Southwest leaves around 6:45 pm. Then it's back to reality.
That's the plan and im sticking to it! (for now ) DFi already likes the plan too - he's not one for sleeping in so R.D. will be fine for him and he's not one for too much "relaxing time". It's really hard to get him to sit and relax by the pool at home let alone on vacation. We've only ever been on one other trip together and that was a whirlwind tour of Europe - commando style (his idea) so im sure he can handle this itinerary.
This also leaves me with seeing new attractions too - I have yet to see the indian jones stunt show, haven't seen Fantasmic before, or been on the fishing excursion. Plus because he's a newbie im sure that i'll see new attractions that don't typically fall into my traditional touring plans - can't wait!!

Fantastic plans! Your cake will be beautiful. Don't forget some pictures for us so we can see how great it turns out to be. Looks like it will be a beautiful wedding and a perfect honeymoon! AKL is our favorite resort and the Poly is wonderful too. You chose some great restaurants and have great touring plans. Can't wait to hear more!
It all sounds wonderful!! I bet you can teach him how to relax. And what better place to do that than the Polynesian. Even if it's just a quick 30 minute dip in the pool and have a FAB, it totally refreshes you for the rest of the evening!!!

WOW it's been awhile since I last posted..sorry guys!! Well I figured I should start next with the dresses.
Bridesmaids
I knew that I wanted a really rich royal color for the dresses so I went with Aubergine. It's a beautiful deep rich purple...I wanted to get one of the dresses for myself
When we started looking for the dresses it was a real challenge. I wanted something classy, elegant, but also something that the girls could wear again. When I saw this dress in a bridal store in Calgary I knew it was the one.... I just LOVE the black lace on it too.. it fit in so well with my damask vintage-y feel...Here is a pic from the Dessy website as you can get a better idea of the colour and the lace
Now what you've all been waiting for...the bride's dress
This was much more difficult to find than what I initially thought. When I first started looking I was sold on have a vintage-y lace dress. I found some gorgeous ones in Calgary ... here is one I tried... and *thought* I loved
The price tag was a bit of a deterrent and I just didn't feel *right* in it. Plus I had always thought that growing up I would have a very princess dress. After much searching I found this next dress. Now I loved it when I tried it in the store - I stayed in it for like at least 30 min LOL but I did decided to keep looking. I did actually find a dress in another store that was pretty much a combination of the two I liked...but was about 3000 more!! So I went back to try on the 30 min dress and this time when she laced me up I started to cry - this was the feeling I was supposed to get when finding a dress!! This was the "one"
Here's a pic....dont mind my god awful hair in this pic LOL
Bee-you-tiful!!!! That is a gorgeous dress. And the bridesmaids won't look to shabby either! Great choices!!!
