Holy Great Movie Ride (April 5 - 10)! TR Begins - COMPLETE!! 6/8 - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have to admit I have not had a chance to read your final posts from your last TR so when I saw this one I tried to hold off....so there I am saying read it, no wait until you finish the other one, no read it. Guess you can tell I read it but I figured this way I can go back and finish your last one while waiting for your next update on this one right
Great start - can't wait to hear all about the food and the planning.

Great start, Melissa! Can't wait to hear all about it.
My sister & her family are going to be there when you're there. I've decided when I get to check out her pictures after her trip, I'm gonna look for you guys all "Where's Waldo"-like.
Don't worry Andy, I'm a Snape fan too (although mine is partly due to a HUGE crush on Alan Rickman!). Can't wait to hear the happenings of the Bakelins, and especially to see your SE pics
I should start by checking off movie number one from the Great Movie Ride - Friday night we watched Footlight Parade. Very entertaining and after watching James Cagney for almost 2 hours, we felt the need to walk around the house saying "You dirty rat" in our best Cagney voice. We also think people should talk like that... really fast with a lot "you see" and "baby" at the end of our sentences.
We sent it back to Netflix Saturday morning so maybe tomorrow or Tuesday we'll have the next one on the list, Singin' in the Rain.
Now, on to the best topic ever. FOOD! We've got a mix of old favorite must-dos, newbies, and a few we love but haven't been to in awhile.
Monday
Lunch at Beaches and Cream.. We haven't been here since we rocked the World Showcase back in May 2008. (That was the music scavenger hunt Andy sent me on). I start salivating like Pavlov's dog at the thought of a cheeseburger and shake from that place.
Dinner is an ADR at Yak and Yeti. Andy loves him some Yak and Yeti, and I love me some Big Bamboo. Going to the AK on our first night is a first. It's emh that night so I thought, why not.
Tuesday
We have an ADR for breakfast at Chef Mickey's which is a first for us. It's taken us to trip number 15 and 7 years to finally do it and we're ready!
Lunch will be in the Land at Sunshine Seasons. We like the variety and we LOVE just relaxing in the Land. The music, the vibe, just love it in there.
Dinner will be at the MK, and probably some corndog nuggets at Casey's Corner for me
Wednesday
Lunch will be at the Tune-In Lounge. We love 50's Prime Time and we doubly love sitting at the bar, enjoying a refreshing adult beverage, and eating some quick lunch at the counter. It's just easier to do this than make an ADR we think.
Dinner will be back at the MK, thinking probably Pecos Bills b/c we like the toppings bar and it's been a couple years since we ate there.
Thursday
Lunch will be at Flame Tree BBQ. It's been awhile since Flame Tree, I think it's been since last Spring. Yak and Yeti always pulls Andy's attention in their direction.
Dinner is an ADR at Le Cellier. Oh how we love Le Cellier and I think it's been since THE horrid trip of March 2008, the baby pick up a handful of butter while mom and dad do nothing trip, yeah, that trip. It's been since then that we've eaten at Le Cellier. It's time to right that wrong.
Friday
Lunch ADR at Trail's End. We ate here back in November as you remember, for the first time, and man was it good. It might become a must each trip. I'm already dreaming of that chili, bbq, and mac n cheese
Dinner will be around the World Showcase... eating ourselves sick from country to country.
Saturday
Lunch will be at Earl of Sandwich, washed down by a chocolate malt from Ghirardeli! I am so excited about this day, even though it's the last day.
Dinner will hopefully be LeMay's pizza b/c we'll be spending the night with the Bakers !
So there you have it. Our food extravaganza!
Coming up: Planning fun!
Don't worry Andy, I'm a Snape fan too (although mine is partly due to a HUGE crush on Alan Rickman!). Can't wait to hear the happenings of the Bakelins, and especially to see your SE pics
That'd be why I'm a huge Snape fan... which worries me with Andy...
Lovin' another Bakelin adventure. Very cool idea renting the GMR movies. Maybe I'll steal that being as we have until 2011 until we go again maybe we can accomplish it. Tyler (my DS8) and I have a deal. He is just about done with the first HP book and when he is, then we will watch the movie together. And that will be our deal for the rest. I am a book-a-holic. I am NEVER without a book and I'm hoping to steer him that way too. Love the ADRs and I love me some Yak & Yeti too. I had the bourbon chicken and fried rice (or something like that) on our last trip and it was my favorite dinner of the trip.
