Pumpkin Pie with Loads of Whip Cream on Top TR COMPLETED - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

YAY! You started the new TR! the title and the story behind it.
I feel like a little kid waiting for the next post with such eager anticipation. I can't wait to find out how you let the cat out of the bag to Stefanie. Her expression and reaction to the news is going to be so exciting!
That letter made me cry and I'm glad your boss approved your time off. Can't wait to hear how Stefanie reacts to the news that she will get to celebrate Halloween with Mickey!

Cam, I was in tears reading your letter. I seriously cannot imagine anyone not being touched or moved by your letter. I am so glad you are able to take this trip!
Great start, Cam! Your letter was beautifully written. So glad you got the o.k. Looking forward to hearing about Stefanie's reaction to your wonderful surprise!
So glad you guys are getting to return to WDW so soon! Especially since Stephanie has been wanting to go that time of year! Can't wait to hear more..... especially the surprise reveal!
oh my gosh! i am just so happy about this! i did not realize i might get to see the three of you again so soon! can't wait for the next installment....
We really thought when we were there in June that that would be it for this year. Luke just knew budget cuts would cancel the trip. But yeah! It worked out. We'll have to do something about meeting for sure!!!!!

That makes me sad! I would so love to meet you and your family as I truly enjoyed your TR from last year's MNSSHP.

Just the way I like it. One year my Mom had to buy more whip cream before Thanksgiving as my sister and I had gotten into the tub and eaten most of it before the big day.

Thank you for sharing this with us, I most definitely can't wait to hear all about it
I worked and reworked on that letter and worried that I was being overly dramatic. But it was all honest and I trusted the folks who would make the decision to see that.

Your letter was so touching, who would have ever turned you down!
I just can't wait to find out how Stefanie took the great news!
I wish you were going to be there, too! One of these days we are going to have to meet.

Seriously, though, what a touching letter. Anyone who'd read that and then deny your vacay has a heart of stone. But, you're already an inspiration - finished one TR, and then launched into another so quickly!
Can't wait to read what's in store for one of my favorite families! Hopefully those plans will include some time with the Crankies - tell Stephanie that Halloween's the perfect time to get into some "trouble" with Joey!
Wow! I wish I had a video of those tears. We have definitely got to get in some time with the Crankies, and tell Joey that when I told Stefanie that you all would be at MNSSHP the same night we would be, she wanted to know if Joey would be there and what he would be wearing.

She loves the meet-and-greets so much I can only imagine her joy at seeing the characters in halloween costumes. She'll have to get one of the limited edition T-shirts they sell at the party so she'll have a souvenir she can wear the rest of the year.
She has already asked me how many characters will be out and what they'll be wearing. I didn't know about the T-shirts -- Are they in adult sizes, too, because we've got to big kids who might like these.

Can't wait to read more, and sure hope we get to meet up during your time there!
Hope we can meet up, too!!!! And an inch of whip cream is terrific!

So to upset the little fellow. Glad he understands now.

As a side, Cory was born Oct. 3 - and her very first name (before we could come up with an official one for the birth certificate) was Little Pumpkin.
Can't wait to read more!
That is so neat that Cory was once a Little Pumpkin.

Pumpkin is just ! I still miss the lady who used to work with Luke and always gave us Pumpkin Roll for Christmas.

There is just something about pumpkin pie that makes me so warm and happy, just the way DD makes me feel.
Have you seen the Halloween bags at the Disney store? We just had to pick up one for our trip to MNSSHP. They are only $2.50 and super cute!
We don't have a Disney Store near us. I'll have to check to see if these are sold on line as well.

PS I have always called my daughter "my little pumpkin pie" too!
I'm going to let Stefanie know that I'm not the only "silly" Mommy who calls her kid pumpkin pie.

We do know they are great. In fact, when Stefanie had her bone marrow transplant, both our school systems created Sick Day Banks so our co-workers could donate days to us. So instead of losing 3 months of pay, we lost only 2 weeks.

We've talked about going to MNSSHP for a very long time as something that would happen many years from now, so it's surreal that it is happening this year.

I hope to have another installment up tomorrow, but I've been busy helping other folks with their TRs tonight and grading some papers.

Cam,
The limited edition T-shirts come in all sizes and are different for each night of the party (at least they were when I went), so they have the actual date you attended. When I was there they also had them in short and long sleeve, which I always appreciate, since we get far more long-sleeve days than short-sleeve ones in Boston! They have other limited merchandise also-- plush characters in costume, ornaments, mugs. I got a small Pluto dressed as Zorro holding a pumpkin with Mickey ears--just adorable.

for the info, Laurie! I was so excited when I heard about the shirts. I'll have to have a long-sleeve as I will wear that much more than the short-sleeve. That is so cool that it will have the actually date we were there. And now you've gotten me all excited about other stuff, too. Stefanie will definitely need one of the plushes. As Stefanie would say, "I can't wait."
Wonderful start Cam ! I can't wait to hear all about this trip. We went to MNSSHP last year and loved it. And count me in for pumpkin pie with loads of whip cream. My brother always makes an extra pie just for me!!
Cam that letter had me sobbing as well! So glad to hear you got the all clear for this trip. I didn't realize your family would be in WDW the same time as mine! Speaking of MNSSHP, what will you guys be wearing? DH & I are still in the bartering faze of our costumes (you know the whole if you wear this.... ) TR is off to a great start; looking forward to more!
