5k, 4 Parks, 3 Nights, 2 Adults, 1 Adventure...Priceless!! - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

omg congrats on the 20lbs!!
and I love turbo jam, a big fan, I am always doing that one
glad your heart palpitations turned out to be nothing that can be scary
so your gonna have 2 TR's right? hehe
Thanks so much! I'm no size 0, but got into a happy 6. If I had half of Chalene Johnson's energy, I'd be running this 5k backwards. Love those DVDs!! Yeah...2 TRs. One with pics of meeting Crissy...and one with pics of meeting Janice (in whatever costume you end up in)

Thanks so much. It was great to finally find something I didn't mind keeping to. And having the race to look forward to really motivates the training.

I am actually thinking about signing up for a 5k here on September 20th. Im a little nervous though because I have NO outside running training yet! I lost a lot of wieght in the last year (about 50 lbs) but running 3.5 miles on the treadmill is still a bit tough for me. I loved hearing you and Craig's story tho- it made me feel inspired! Yay! Cant wait for more!
Hey girl...welcome to the PTR!! Totally sign up!! You did absolutely amazing before your wedding...50 lbs is fantastic!!! If you're doing 3.5 on the treadmill, you are already over the 5k distance. I think you could totally do it! Where's the race??

I think you are going to have so much fun with the 5K run...and you are more than well trained for it because if you remember I walked/ran and finished it in 39 mins so I'm sure you can do it in less time.
I just want to say again that you had me worried to death with the heart issues but am so glad it was minor in the end and to be expected with the stress you have going on!
You know I'm more than completely jealous over the weight loss and you need to be my personal weight loss trainer for sure! I am in awe of the weight loss and training!
Okay so i'm already ready for the questioning for the race! If you like this race will you do one with me next year????!!! I am dying to do this again and when I started reading this it reminded me of how awesome it felt to run that race.
Its all so very exciting!!!!!
also i was when i realized that we do text on our hair appointments*L* i've got one coming up soon so expect texting *L*
I cannot read more and countdown with you and BTW 30 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's okay...you're totally off the hook out ther visitin' TN. But, glad you're here to share. Reading yours is like reading my own PTR so I've got both of them to help me count down. Thanks for the congrats! I really love doing the Jenny. Mostly because it's really "weight loss for dummies" there's no thinking about what you're going to eat. Of course come October when I'm off of it...that's where it could get a bit dicey. You've got to give me all of your secrets and any handy advice for the race. I'm already going to pack wipes and baby powder and I bought the moisture wicking jog bras like you said...just keep it coming. BTW, I'm getting my hair done on Thursday before our week at the beach next week...so expect some texting And if I can rub a couple of nickles together this time next year after a new house...I'll work on a girl's race.

I know Craig and I will completely enjoy ourselves when we get there, but I'll be cryin' like a baby that morning when I leave them...I always do. But you are right, going a month later with them should take some of the sting out of it. And their grandparents will be spoilin' them rotten.

Maybe you need to post an updated picture. I just recently started working out on my lunch breaks at work (we have a gym) to try and lose the rest of my baby weight (a year later!!). So far I am down about 6 pounds but several inches as I have started to already get back into some of my pre-preg clothes. I was never one to try a diet and feared having to stick to it, so I am curious to hear about the jenny craig program that you did. So far I have just been exercising usually 5 days a week at work, treadmill, elliptical and trying to eat a bit healthier, smaller portions etc. How old is your youngest now? I don't think I could leave my little man (16 months) home yet, but I would love to someday do a short trip with my dh! Can't wait to read more!!
Thanks so much!! I'm sure I'll have some pics to post when we get back, or maybe in a couple of weeks when we get back from the beach (if I can find one that I like enough, you know we are all our own worst critics ) How cool to have a gym at your work. That must make it so much easier. You can get your workout in and not have to worry about watching your baby. My youngest is 4 1/2...so I had to get on the ball. I'm down to pre first pregnancy so I'm happy now. The first time I left my youngest he was 15 months. We wanted to take the 2 oldest boys and not make them wait 2 more years. It was hard, but I knew he was in great hands and we had a blast in Disney.

Sounds like the training is going great - terrific that you got the thumbs up from the doctor. I've talked to John about doing the 5k and he said if I trained and was ready, that I could make the trip for it (anything to get to WDW) but things happen and I just haven't gotten there yet.
Good luck - looking forward to hearing all about it!
Thanks very much. I love Jenny...like I said above, it's the not having to really think about it that made it work. With busy work and kid schedules...we've all got...it made it so easy to just do what they told me to do. And I really love my counsellor, she's awesome!! I think there are other 5ks at Disney, right? And there's always next year too. If I can run 5k...anyone can!! Good luck if you do it.

Good Luck with the last bit of training before the race. And thank goodness you are ok - I'm sure it was the stress of all going on.
Can't wait for more!
Excitement is an understatement...I've been thinking about running this ever since I read about Crissy doing it. And then to become such good friends over it all. I can't wait to meet her and Eric on this trip. Thanks for the well wishes too. I'm sure it's all stress. I tend to be a worry wart...My mother used to call me Sarah Heartburn when I was growing up.

As one who has had a stress test that didn't turn out so good, I'm very glad you're OK!
Your trip sounds wonderful, and you get to meet Crissy and Eric... how cool is THAT!!
OMG i'm so going thursday too to get my hair cut!!!*L* weird because I totally just decided on thursday this morning....very odd indeed So, i'm ready for the texts and I have plenty more ideas for what to put in that little bag. Bandaids for sure!!!! Big ones, small ones and some neosporin because you never know!! Take a some sandals or whatever you want to change into after the race. I took some baby wipes, def some baby powder, deo, and some body spray....i'm really weird about smells*L* I also took my ID and some money because they sell race themed stuff after the race. I did not need the money in the end because they give you a bagel, a banana and poweraid but they did sell beer at the finishline funny! Be prepared with those baby wipes and some new socks maybe because we had to crawl under a rope and I got dirt all over my knees and on my socks...and it stuck like glue because of the sweat.
Some people had Ipods which they said was not allowed but they never said anything to the IPOD wearers. Also, many duos had matching shirts or funny outfits. I did not expect that so if you want to dress like chickens you will not stand out
Okay i know there's more where that came from....more later....
BTW have fun at the beach lucky girlie!
The company that I work for has a police department so the gym is basically for them, but employees and their spouses/children are allowed to use it. So why not take advantage of it and to be able to go at lunch for an hour really works out great, since I live 30 minutes from work! Getting the motivation to do it was the problem, but now I feel like I am in a pretty good routine. Pre pregnancy I was a size 4, I gained 55 lbs with ds so post pregnancy I was an 8. I am currently in between 4 and 6 so I am thrilled! I have bumped myself up to 3 miles a day on the elliptical so we will see. I think it would be hard for me to leave ds becuase he is our only child right now and he is a mama's boy! I would miss my cuddle bug! Having a family trip planned the very next month though is probably a huge help!! I can't wait to hear what you try at F&WF since we will be there in October, looking for yummy suggestions!!

(BTW, it is just this big county thing that they do around here called the Dutchess County Classic and its all different races in one weekend locally!)
I emailed the admin of the web page to find out if they will accept in person registration. We shall see!

I found out about the Everest 5k too late for my last trip so I'll be interested to read about your adventure. I have just started back jogging so I'm looking forward to finding out about what races Disney offers. Good way to convince DH I need to go back.
Congrats on the weight loss and the training! I'm glad the heart palpitations were nothing to worry about. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much. Yes, it was a scare, but at least it's okay.

So sorry your results were not as positive , but thank you. Yes I am soooo excited to meet Crissy and Eric. It's her "fault" I'm in this race.

Great minds think alike, huh? Haircuts on the same day again. I'll be texting you tomorrow from the chair. Thanks for the additional ideas. New socks is definitely a great idea! All those stinky feet!! Craig isn't thrilled about the no I-pod thing, but I think it will be better to enjoy ever second of the race experience not being tuned out from what is going on around. Poor guy will just have to listen to me for the entire race...like he doesn't hear me enough all day. And hey...we dressed up as ducks last year, why not chickens this year??

Okay...you are already between a 4 and a 6 and your baby isn't even 2 yet?? You are WAY ahead of where I was when I met Jenny. You're doing fabulous!! I love the elliptical, it's sooo much better on my old knees. But it just isn't the same kind of wind and I needed to make sure I could run. I'll be back on the elliptical when this race is over, believe me.

Hopefully they will let you register there, but if not it sounds like a fun day anyway. And hey...I saw on Crissy's PTR that you guys are getting ready to book a trip to WDW for next summer??? That is awesome!!

I'm always looking for a reason to convince Craig we need to go back and this one seemed to work like a charm! So, maybe it will work for you too. I know a girl in my office did the princess 1/2 marathon (not ready for that yet) and it is in the Spring I think.
I was doing the treadmill and actually walking, running, walking to get my body used to it again. You are right, running on the treadmill is definately different from the elliptical. I switched to the elliptical because it seemed like I was burning more calories faster on it and as of today I worked myself up to 3 1/2 miles. I haven't lost a huge amount of weight, but I have lost inches. I was amazed when things were getting looser around the hips and thighs. I was in an 8 after pregnancy so I went up 2 sizes. I really wanted to get back to my old size before thinking about a second baby, I want my maternity clothes to fit!
What beach do you guys go to?
