Skeen's Third Time's the Charm" Pre-Trip Report Nov. 2009 - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I love those Ninetendo DS's. They are lifesavers in some situations. The girls have to share one, because my older DD lost hers at a museum. (Long story) Anyway they played with it on the plane, but not any games. There were so many other kids with theirs, that they just talked back and forth the whole plane ride. Before they knew it, we were landing.
Hope they will keep your kids occupied for your drive.
You're almost there.

Hey you guys!! Ok, it's just 15 days and counting until our trip!!
My kids can REALLY see that it's almost time and they are so so excited! Especially my six year old because he has a fairly clear memory of when we were there before. They have all been pulling links off their Disney Countdown Chain each day!!
This morning our made our hotel ressie in Pensacola for our night on the road.... I am not sure where we are staying on the way home. I'm leaving it open because we might want to stay at the park until fairly late.... or we might even stay an extra day - I just don't know! We COULD squeeze in an extra day if we really tried.... hmmm.... lol.
We finalized the itinerary .... this is kind of a condensed version.
Nov. 5 - Take oldest DH to school. Pack the car. Load up the kids, pick up oldest DS from school at 10:15 am (so he's counted present for the day). HIT THE ROAD!! Drive for a long, long time. Arrive in Pensacola and TRY to sleep until the alarm wakes us at 7 am. I am going to need to take a Benadryl to make myself go to sleep because I'm going to be so excited!!!
Nov. 6 - Eat Breakfast at the hotel if they have it. If not, grab Mickey D's and eat in the car. Arrive at Port Orleans Riverside late afternoon. Check in, let DH take the kids for a walk on the grounds while I try to organize the room a bit. Then, head out to Magic Kingdom!!! Quick Service for dinner. Priority for the evening is to see Spectromagic!!!
Nov. 7 - 8 am Breakfast at Ohana's with Lilo and Stitch. Head to Epcot. Priority for the morning is to ride Soarin! We plan to do Innoventions West, The Land and possibly the Imagination Pavillion before heading into World Showcase to start snacking our way through the countries at the Food and Wine Festival Booths!!! If the kids get tired and whiny we will go take a break in our room and if not we will just keep going.
Nov. 8 - 8:20 AM Breafast at Tusker House for Donald's Safari Breakfast. Animal Kingdom Day. We plan to stay most of the day and then possibly have dinner at Boma's that night. Boma's isn't on our reservation list - so we will just call ahead and try to get a table if we are in the mood. 8 PM Carriage Ride around Port Orleans that evening.
Nov. 9 - Magic Kingdom Day! This is the day we will start our morning in Fantasyland!! 4:45 PM Ressies at 1900 Park Fare. I wish we could get these moved back about 30 minutes. Gracie will wear her Cinderella inspired tutu with her little tiara. I can't wait! First time to have a Princess Meal!! Yay!!
Nov. 10 - Disney Hollywood Studio's. We won't stay here all day. We did have dining ressies at Sci Fi for half our group and Hollywood and Vine for the other half, but after thinking it over - we cancelled them. We are just going to grab a Quick Service lunch somewhere instead, but we may just stop in for some ice cream at Sci Fi late in the afternoon. We have evening dining ressies at Ohana's! I have never been there and it's been really high on our "to do" list!
Nov. 11 - Split Day - Magic Kingdom/Epcot. Evening dining ressis at Akershus.
Nov. 12 - Morning Pirate Bayou Cruise for the boys. Mom and Dad are going to do NOTHING while they are gone. After we pick them up from their cruise, we are headed to Beaches and Cream for a Everything but the Kitchen Sink - or is it Everything AND the Kitchen Sink?? I'm not sure but we are planning to do some major damage to it!! Besides that - we are free to do whatever we want this day.
Nov. 13 - Leaving today!! 9 am Ressies at Chef Mickey's. We have no plans - so we are flexible other than the breakfast and checking out. Whatever we haven't done that we want to do - today is the day!!
That's pretty much it! We have one open Table Service Meal - we are kind of going back and forth whether to do Boma because my DH and my stepdad would LOVE it. Or, do Garden Grill because we all love the food there and there is more characters - or else do Coral Reef - because I have always wanted to eat there. I am just not sure! So, we just left it open to see what happens. I might go and head and reserve Boma's - I just don't know yet.
I tried to build in a lot of downtime so that we have some freedom. My mom and I want to go to Downtown Disney and shop - but I don't really want to take the kids.... so we are hoping to find a few hours to do that too.
I can't believe it's almost here. I am soooo super excited to take the kids - my oldest will be able to ride everything and my middle one can ride almost everything - and my baby girl can ride everything that I want to ride! I am not one for thrill rides - I'll do Splash if I just have too - but for the most part me and my mom are content to take a break and hold the baby while the guys ride Space, BTMRR, RNRC, TT, ToT, and whatever else comes along. We LOVE the down time and a moment to rest our feet. I might try the tamer version of Mission Space. I rode it last time we were there - before there was a tamer version - and I was so sick the rest of the day. I love Splash though but I about have a panic attack and it makes it less fun. I might have to ride it anyway though!!
Ok - my daughter is having a meltdown so I've typed too long! Later!

Thanks you guys! We booked our room in Pensacola for the trip there with free hotel points....and, we just figured out we have enough hotel points left to stay for free on the way home!
Last night the boys and I sat down and started making a list of everything in Magic Kingdom they want to ride. Of course they picked pretty much EVERYTHING. It was fun to sit them down and read to them about each attraction!!!

LOL! Yes, especially when you are 6 and 5 years old! My 6 year old remembers being there when he was almost 3 ... and his greatest memory is riding Barnstormer. And so when we get to the Barnstormer page in Birnbaum for Kids (which is an awesome book for kids!!) - he gets REALLY excited. He's a thrill ride freak - and he doesn't realize that Barnstormer is going to pale in comparison to what he will be able to ride this year. He's excited about ToT and Sp Mtn and all that jazz - but he REMEMBERS Barnstormer. And my middle one is 5 years old and he's not as adventurous so when we read the description to Splash Mountain he says "I'm not riding that!!!!!" - lol. Uh huh - sure - we'll see. You surfed at Schlitterbahn didn't you??
Patclairesmom - I'm with you on Coral Reef. The guys are voting for Boma. Are we going to be happy if we go to Boma?? We have three kids you know?? We mostly plan character meals so we have a way to entertain them. How entertained will they be at Boma?? I'm worried!!
