The "Hey, we got engaged, let's go to Disney!" Trip Report - COMPLETE!! 3/25 - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yes they did! It is sooo nice it was literally right next to the gate. I don't remember which one but given how small the airport is, i am sure you could find it
thanks for the comment!

Getting ready for our own Disneymoon September 14-26th!
Tuesday 9/2
Plan: Epcot, Garden Grill for Lunch, Coral Reef Diving for Steve
Actual:
We decided to sleep in a little bit since we knew Steve would be doing his dive today. We woke up at 9 and were on our way to Epcot at 10:00. We arrived at 10:20 and got our picture taken by the photpass guys. After pictures Steve was itching to go on Spaceship Earth and so was I. I had heard about the rehab changes and was curious to see them. We both loved it; in fact Steve wanted to ride it again! The questions at the end were really fun and the graphics were cute. When we walked out of there we were greeted by a huge globe that had our faces located near NH, it was kind of neat to see where all the people were from.
It was off to Soarin’ after that, we grabbed a fastpass for 1:00 to 2:00 and then I bought some postcards ($5.00 for 9) so I could get them signed when we went to our Garden Grill lunch reservation. We were going to try to fit in a ride before our 11:35 ADR but we didn’t want to cut it too close so we checked in about 15 minutes early. Agnes was our server and she was great, we told her we didn’t want the catfish and she brought us some chicken nuggets instead, without us even asking!
The buffet (which was brought to the table due to the restaurants revolving nature) consisted of oatmeal cluster rolls, rotisserie chicken, southern fried catfish, flank steak with mushroom cabernet sauce, tillamook cheddar potato casserole and baby green beans. The food was great, Steve loved the steak and potatoes and I filled up on the chicken and green beans, I loved the potatoes too but I was pretty sure they were about 1,000 calories a bite!
Steve giving some love, lol
We each ordered the Pirates Punch drink which came with a Captain Hook light up toy for him and a Tinkerbelle one for me. Mickey, Pluto and Chip and Dale all visited many times and I was able to get some great pictures. Dale noticed our just engaged buttons and was gesturing as to why I didn’t marry him instead. I said that Steve was a nice guy and he gave me a beautiful big diamond so I couldn’t say no. He made a disappointed gesture and I told him that if he gave me a bigger ring I might marry him instead! He grabbed the straw off the table and tied it into a knot and then slipped it on my finger! I couldn’t help but laugh, he looked at me and gestured, “so?” and I said, “Well I guess you win!” he took my by the hand and lead me to the edge of the restaurant where we just happened to be passing the house from the Living Land exhibit. He pointed to it, and I said, “Is that where we are going to live?” He nodded emphatically and then I told him I should probably get back to Steve before he came looking for us!
the proposal
The entire experience was great, I loved the character interaction and I thought the food was well worth it. We were so stuffed that we barely had room for dessert but couldn’t resist when she brought out the fresh strawberry puff pastry. It was sooo yummy! The total came to $70 with a generous tip. We thought it would be a good idea to get the land done so we headed to the Circle of Life at 12:45. It’s a bit tired and the video footage is quite old but it still makes me tear up and makes me feel horrible for being human, lol. I wish we could be better at remembering that this earth does not belong to us, hopefully movies like this will help us learn that.
waiting for the Circle of Life film
It was now time for the fastpass for Soarin’ so we jumped in line. What a great ride, the pine and orange smells, the breeze, the views, I love it! It would be cool if they did a video of somewhere else though, maybe Florida, maybe just pictures from all over the country…after our flight we finished up the Land Pavilion with a classic ride, Living with the Land. I love looking at all the vegetables, fruits and other things they grow, I especially love it when they grow fruits and veggies in the shape of Mickey!!! This year they had signs on those ones that said “earning my ears.” It made me laugh! The nine pound lemons were still there, I would love to get my hands on one of those, they told us they can make a gallon of lemonade!
With the land finished we headed to the Imagination! Pavilion. It was time for my figment fix ☺ I really miss the old ride with the color song but I still like the new one. The sense lab is cool and it’s nice to have Eric Idle as the host. When that was done I saw a photo booth and since I have a fascination with those, Steve and I jumped in, we got two sets of four pics for $5.00, not a bad deal! Then it was off to Honey, I Shrunk the Audience at 2:35.
It took a really long time for us to get into the theatre once we were brought into the preshow room, not sure if they were having problems but I don’t remember ever having to wait that long. That show has never done that much for me, but it’s still cute. After that we poked around in the imageworks lab for a little, we sent an email to ourselves of one of the pictures we made and then discussed what the game plan would be. We knew Steve had his dive at 4:30 so we had about an hour and a half to kill. We wanted to try and find out for sure where we should meet, because we had heard conflicting stories.
We headed to The Seas with Nemo and Friends at 3:05 and once again marveled at the technology they use on that ride, it is so neat to see the animated characters “in” the tank with the real fish! When we got off Nemo we were going to do Turtle Talk but decided to try and find out someone who would know where and when to meet for the dive. We found someone in the gift shop who called the dive center and they sent a gentleman down to answer our questions. We were told to meet outside of the park entrance near the guest relations booth. We decided to make the slow walk towards the front instead of rush there and chance being late.
When the dive guide arrived we asked him how much I would be able to see and when we could watch them dive, the guides answered all of our questions and then the 10 or so people who were actually diving headed off through a back entrance. At that point I was on my own and headed back into the park to grab fastpasses for Steve and I, he told me to get ones for either Mission Space or Test Track, after consulting the times board it looked like Test Track would be better since Mission Space had no wait.
I went to Test Track but the fastpass return time was 5:20-6:20 and he wouldn’t be out until after 7. I asked the cast member standing by the machines and he said we could use them at any time after the start time, so I grabbed the fastpasses and moseyed my way back to the Living Seas.
I didn’t wanna do anything without Steve and I was looking forward to a bit of a rest. I grabbed a diet coke on the way over to cool off ($2.00). Steve would be diving in the tank sometime around 5:15, so I settled in on a bench and enjoyed the soothing movements of the fish. When the divers finally got in the tank all of the people with loved ones in there were running around like crazy following them. They had to do a couple of huddles down there and then they had free dive, as soon as Steve was able to he came right up to the window and greeted me!
Peace baby!
It was so neat to see him in there and he got to see some great fish and turtles and even sharks! I was able to get a few good pics though it’s hard with the glass. Once they got out of the water, I headed downstairs where we were supposed to meet. We were told ahead of time that someone would come out to get us so we could watch the video that they made of them in the tank but no one ever came out, I was starting to get a little worried because they were out of the tank by 6:20 and the didn’t come out until nearly 7:00!
Steve wasn’t sure why they didn’t come to get us but he did say that it took a long time because the girls who had been in the tank were taking forever to shower and get ready again. He bought a copy of the DVD though, so I was happy that I would get to watch it, he also got a free t-shirt that says "Epcot Dive Quest" on it. Apparently only about 800 people have ever done this dive! Pretty cool!
We decided to do Turtle Talk one more time, which was great as usual. I love the interaction. He was talking to the father of one of the little girls and asked how many kids he had, the gentleman said “five” and crush raised his “eyebrows” and was like, “wow…good job!” at one point Crush said that he had found something that us humans had dropped in the water, and he showed us a Buzz Lightyear! He said, “it keeps saying to infinity and beyond!” while he gurgled, lol. When he hit his head on the tank, he said, “oww I'm seeing starfish!” and then he brought out Dory and they spoke whale and the whale squished Dory against the “human tank” glass, he said, “look its Dory as a flounder!”
When we left there it was 8:00 so we decided to use our fastpasses for test track. We sat in the front row and as always the max speed was 64.8. One day I hope to get it to over 65! By this point Steve was dying to ride Mission Space, last year we had done the green one because I am a big chicken and he wanted to try the orange. I told him I would ride the green while he rode the orange. Boy am I glad I did, when he got off he said it almost made him sick, and he never gets motion sickness, apparently the ride boasts several G Forces! I wound up riding by myself, so I got the luxury of pushing all the buttons for the entire ride, of course I couldn’t reach them all but did my best, I think pushing the buttons distracts you from realizing how crappy the ride makes you feel!
We were both exhausted after this ride and decided to call it a night, but on the way out Steve decided he wanted to ride Spaceship Earth again so on we went at 8:50. He had me answer the questions this time (he had answered them the first time through) and we practically had to crawl to the busses when we were done.
We left the park at 9:20 and were at the hotel at 9:30. We stopped by the food court on our way back to the room. We were both starving seeing as we hadn’t eaten since lunch! Steve got a chicken with orzo pasta soup, chicken nuggets with fries and 2 chocolate chip cookies. I got a small cheese pizza, a salad bowl with chicken (which was waay bigger than I expected!) and apples with caramel. The total was $33.74.
After we got back to the hotel and ate, Steve suggested I take a bath to let my blisters soften in the hopes that I could pop them (I had one on each heel). He went down to the gift shop to buy a sewing kit so I could have a pin to pop it with ($4.23). He also came back with a Mickey premium bar and a yogurt parfait for himself ($6.62). By the time he had gotten back I was nearly asleep in the tub so I crawled out, threw pj’s on and slid into bed. We watched a little TV but I fell asleep fairly quickly.
