As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

DD-9 just got home from school and she called me at work. Mommie she says...they are having us sell stuff at school....and there is really cool tinkerbelle stuff on the back they are giving away as prizes, can you buy some stuff!
Not only is the PTA sale starting this week, but the GS are also starting the Fall Product Sale next week. I guess I need to set a limit and it's so tough to look into that cute face and say, " Oh honey, I can only spend this much because I'm saving for our fun trip...three months away."
Only 30 minutes until I get home...hope that's enough time to think of a way out of buying this stuff.

Teresa, yep, that's it! I've heard about Z-Coils, but haven't gone that direction yet. I was concerned about dirt and such collecting in them, does that seem to be a problem? At the moment, there are no shoes allowed in the house except for "house shoes" (Mr. Monk and Miss Monk Jr.) That's why I sprung for 2 sets of orthotics...
You'd think they'd get dirty - but they don't! They're cleaner than most of my shoes. And, they will adjust the shoes FOR LIFE! I met someone the other day wearing some - he's had them for 8 yrs! They still look fairly new. Also, the store/company will clean the coils for you every 3 months or so.

Repeat after me: "I cannot buy that right now. WE are going to WDW in a few months. I will BUY you the gift you want then." It's cheaper than trying to buy your way into the prizes - either that or tell her she's just going to have to start knocking on doors. (and I can't tell you how glad I am that DD's GS troop won't sell Fall Product - I think it's awful that the focus is sell this stuff, and as soon as you get that stuff, sell some cookies!)

When my older 2 were in PS, one of the things in their "declaration of parental rights" I had on file for them was NO FUNDRAISERS. They were not allowed to attend any rallies, assemblies, anything, I was to be notified ahead of time so I could decide what to do about attendance (we usually went to the mall ). They were not to be given the information/handouts. As a former school teacher, I was D-O-N-E with "fundraisers". Yeah, I know, the Grumpy gene kicked in.
Whew...stepping off soapbox...
$1 for me for a large sweet tea, no ice on the ride home from Toastmaster's tonight (where I won my 2nd pencil for Best Table Topics! ) I decided it was worth the celebration. I picked up a movie at Blockbuster (Lars and the Real Girl), but had a coupon, so it was FREEEEEE!

$1 day - YES, $1!!!!! Technically it was only $0.60!!! I really needed a soda to go with my lunch.
And here's the REALLY good thing about today...I got a $65 check from my district office letting me know that I was overcharged this summer for my short-term disability and they owed me $$!! AND...I finally got my last summer transcript from the classes I took, and can now turn them in to get my $180 back!! DH told me to put it ALL in our vacation account!
oh shoot, I forgot I had to spend $70 on DD's piano lessons for Sept - but I only impulsively spent $0.60!!

Looking forward to another Christmas with The Mouse!!
Dawn - congrats on the second pencil!
You'll love Lars and the Real Girl - I hope. DD and I did!
Today - Money spent - for dinner, we had it "out" since I had to work and Lauren had karate (same place). Me: KFC, $4.28. Lauren: Pizza, $8. DH: Taco Bell, $4. Kathryn: stayed home and just had some yogurt and fruit. Don't get too excited about her making it cheap to feed her - the yogurt is from an organic dairy in Indy, and is $6 a quart! But it's sooo yummy!

To be honest, I hardly laughed at all, but I definitely cried. It was a hard movie for me to watch b/c of hubby's issues. If we hadn't met, I could totally see that being him, only in total isolation.
On the positive side, it was SO nice to finally see people who practiced what they preached! It was refreshing, although, very sadly, unrealistic (but it wouldn't HAVE to be!) 9yo had me buy an album in iTunes that had a "theme song" for her on it (Voice of Truth, we're trying to use that to re-focus when she starts a panic) and it has another song called, "If We Are the Body" that fits so perfectly with the theme of this movie. I'm glad you recommended it!

Got through the night...and nope I didn't order anything. I picked up the brochure and flipped through it, put it down and that was that. I did look over the Tinkerbell stuff, it wasn't a prize though it was magnetic frames, a to-do chart (Which I print for free so why would I buy one?) and a charm braclet, all amazingly stuff we can do without.
The GS sale, I'm going to ignore too. I'm losing weight for Mickey and the last thing I need is nuts and candy! I'm halfway to my goal and let me tell ya' I'm NOT going back up. So this morning, I'm grabbing my granola bar, my yogurt and a peach and I'm outta here!
Yesterday I spent $1.20 on 2 candy bars for dd. She asked for them as a treat after school and her day didn't go well since no one in school could get her locker open and they said they would "see" what they could do. They better not make her carry all her books around for long or mommy will lose it!!!!!
Today I don't see any expenses except for the fact that my car needs gas but that can't be avoided. I pack my lunch and eat breakfast and dinner at home usually so I should be good.
$95 at the vet to have Mickey become less the cat that he was this morning.
$72 at Target, but that included a baby shower gift, scrapbook supplies for another gift, cat food, dog chewies, trash bags (on sale! ) cards, and yes, I bought 2 new pairs of flip flops for our upcoming vacation. But they were on clearance at $4.98 a pair. They are the first pair of shoes I have bought since I started doing debt reduction!

The way I have it figured I could rent a Airliner(I like Virgin Atlantic) and fly around the world. With a amazing pilot and crew(The name of the female pilot in Goldfinger comes to mind but this is a family board). I could also hire about 10 flight attendants. And I would still spend less then last month. Getting hurt on the job is bad but the company that I work for is going to fight me on it. I see lawyers in my future!!! Help me Mr Wizard.
$9 at Taco Bell for 12yo and I for dinner after her "trial" Tai Chi class (I think she liked it and wants to give it a try! )
$195 at the grocery store, mostly for trip food for DDs and I...that's $17/day for all 3 of us, including lots of healthy snacks (nuts, dried fruit, and Teresa inspired me to make homemade granola bars and brown rice treats!). I figured I was easily spending $600-$650 on an 11 day trip with eating out, so I'm VERY happy about the savings (and am KICKING myself for not sticking with it earlier )
