Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm​. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've always had problems too. It was absolutely horrible time I was younger to the point I'd miss a day of school almost every month. I even talked to a doctor about the cramping part and they said it's considered normal just severe - I'm talking fevers, vomiting, and cramping so bad I was in tears. At least those are better but I do tend to be a raging witch for a couple of days before. Chocolate seems to work wonders for me, and I pretty much take ibuprofen religiously for about 2 days every month.

Taking BC helped a lot for me. Maybe there's some form you and your doctor can find that would work for you?I used to get headaches almost daily but once I switched to a low dose pill they went away - turns out according to the pharmacist too high of estrogen levels can give you headaches.

This is me! Only it turns into depression because I can't control it. I've just gone back on Celexa (citlopram). On top of that, I'm perimenopausal. I go through the PMS motions (x20), but no period. Which isn't bad, but I never know if I'm going to get one or not. The pill gives me headaches, even on the lowest dose, and I'm unsure about hormonal therapy due to the breast cancer that runs on my maternal side.

I hope you're able to find something that works for you Dawn.

Oh YAH! I can totally relate. I can't do Yaz, even. Last time we tried BCPs (lo-dose), I had a year-long period. Yes. 12 months of living he-double-hockey-sticks. Nothing we could do stopped it, the doc was baffled and made me promise NOT to mess with my hormones anymore. The problem is, my hormones are messing with ME now!

In addition to being Dr. "Jackal" and Mrs. "Hyde-from-me" , I've started sprouting {I shudder to say it...} chin hairs! And these aren't like eyebrows that wrongly tweezed punish you by staying gone forever...you tweeze these suckers and they come back...with FRIENDS. I'm totally convinced that my hormones are seriously whacked, but my last tests showed "within normal limits". I'm definitely going to try the chocolate and exercise routes...one to offset the other!

Last week when I had my annual GYN appt, I begged the doc to schedule my hysterectomy. She REFUSED!!!!!! I'm so bummed. I am in menopause and have the hot flashes and night sweats. I am taking hormones that help some, but can only take them every other day cause I have had some probs with blood clots.
You might want to try herbal remedies as I have heard good things about these.

I had a hysterectomy at 31 and, though it wasn't my choice at the time and I was devastated, it was a wonderful thing for me in the long run. Before that I was talking evening primrose oil and fish oil to help with the three headed monster that appeared every month. Even my dh noticed a difference. I would flip out over nothing. I honestly think there were times when my girls were terrified of me and there was nothing I could do to stop it until someone recommended the evening primrose oil and fish oil. I will caution you to take it at night, right before bed with a lot of water. The pills made me burp and the tast was bad enough to make me vomit. When I took them at night I didn't notice the burping or taste.

My PMS has been really bad since I was a teen. Exercise helps a great deal. And a glass of wine helps sometimes, too, when I start feeling really down. I always avoid salt before and during as well. But the biggest thing I do is just accept it rather than fight it. I spend more time alone so I don't snap at people and remember to take lots to deep breaths.

I should note that I feel this is a thread that men can contribute to, and at the very least, I would not want them to feel excluded from (as they should not from any thread on these boards). Men have their own take on PMS and I've found it to be quite valuable over the years. Thus, I removed the world "(only)" from the thread title.

Thanks, Jennifer...good point, however, walking in and hollering, "How's the estrogen level today???" probably isn't very helpful

Soy helps menopause/peri menopause symptoms- there are products that are mostly soy without other herbs-some people find taking anti depressants also help- have you talked to your MD?

the only thing that helps mine is aleive (naprox) and a LOT of it!!! also....get your sugar checked....stress and not eating right will get your sugar levels ALL out of whack.... and that alone will make your moods VERY intense and all over the place.

I'm on HRT therapy now so I can't help you.

You've brought back god-awful memories though of before I had a hysterectomy. That was the best decision I ever made despite being young at the time. I couldn't even go to class I was in so much pain and my symptoms started 3 weeks before my period was due. So I was out the whole month.

Blech!! You have my utmost sympathy for something to help.

Amen sistah! This was me from the days my periods began in 5th grade (yes, 5th grade). Every female in my family has had a hysterectomy due to endometriosis and I've been the youngest thus far. DD has all the signs so I will make sure she's guided by the knowledge of our family history, advise her to have kids young, and then get it out. You don't need it but need the hormones which can be replaced in pill form.

That's why I had so much trouble getting a diagnosis! All my doctors could see was perimenopausal symptoms. Then they heard about the aggression and that I have a luteal phase defect and low progesterone and the picture came together. I have PCOS and despite not wanting to go on any kind of hormone bc or hormone therapy, that's the recommended treatment. I thought it was going to be a nightmare, but I have to give props to Yaz. I feel like a different person most of the time now!

I still have a day or two a month when I scream instead of speaking and lose my poo over ridiculous things once too often, but my guys have learned to leave me be as much as possible and keep green tea and chocolate in the house. I really am coherent for nearly the entire month now. My husband was ready to pitch a tent and live in the yard before I started taking Yaz.

I'm on the pill, because if I'm not I have a cycle 24/7. NOT FUN : My doctor at one time asked me to try Yaz - when it first came out. I was so excited, it's supposed to be especially good for PCOS. I could barely take off my double balloon holder (how'd you like that description to keep it family ) for 3 months, without EXTREME pain. Weird, huh?? I was SO disappointed. I wanted the PCOS pill! LOL
