Snow White, the 7 Dwarves and the Ugly Witch Return to Disney Trip Report - 7/22 Pre Trip - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Now that brings us to June 5th - the night before Paula’s payment deadline. She came over the house and was talking to mom in the living room. Since nothing was said to me about Disney or money, I didn’t stay in the room. I was just getting ready to cancel Lauren off all our reservations. I didn’t hide my feelings. I had told Paula that if we didn’t have the money on the date I told her (2 weeks before my real payment date) that I would have to cancel Lauren. With an open balance on my reservation, my only options were to pay Lauren’s balance or cancel her. I wasn’t going to risk losing it all because of Paula nor was I going to pay for Lauren and have Paula owing me money instead of Disney.
After something like an hour, mom called me in the living room and Paula finally told me Lauren changed her mind. She was really afraid of getting homesick on such a long vacation is what I was told. Inside, I was jumping up and down for joy, but outwardly I was calm trying to reassure Paula that I understood and that I was not upset by Lauren’s decision not to go. I did say that Abby would be upset but that in time she would also be fine with the final outcome. After our conversation, whether it was rude or not, I left the room and immediately called Disney to take Lauren off my reservation. I wasn’t giving Paula a chance to change her mind. So within something like 20 minutes things were all taken care of and for the first time in months I didn’t feel stressed. Our vacation was back to where it should have been - just me, Lenny and Abby with everything paid off.. The next day I called and changed my ADR’s also. This put us down to about 60 days and I was so looking forward to this trip for the first time in months.
SO WHERE DO I STAND?
Almost completely stress free and looking forward to this trip. All my ADR’s are how I need them and our rooms are now without Lauren. I’ve ordered my customized maps. I’ve updated Abby’s little book I made her for the last trip. I’ve filled my mousekeeping envelopes. Aside from packing, anything from here on out is just little stufff to keep myself busy for the next 3 weeks. Making copies of homemade discs so they don’t get ruined, refining my packing list (yes, I have a list saved on the computer that gets revised depending upon where we go), making lists for mom of where we’ll be. Looking over everything I’ve already done to make sure I have all my maps, menus, charts etc that we’ll need for the drive. And of course, just waiting for the trip now that I am really looking forward to it.
Next I'll post my itinerary. I like how I have it planned so I doubt it will change between now and the time we leave.
Glad everything worked out for you. I have my packing list on my computer too, now if I could only get the printer to work . Hurry back. Looking forward to your itinerery.
Saturday August 9th - Hopefully we’ll be out of the house by 8 am and driving towards Chambersburg PA where we’ll spend the night.
Sunday August 10th - Out of the hotel by 8:30 heading to Lorton VA where we’ll get the Auto Train.
Monday August 11th - Hopefully the train is on time as a 9:30 arrival is scheduled. If this year is like last time, we’ll be at AS Sports by about 11 am. Once there, we’ll check in and get our tickets. If our rooms are ready, we’ll unpack the truck, eat lunch at the food court then head to the MK. If the rooms are not ready, we’ll have lunch then go play mini golf until they are. Once the truck is unpacked, we’ll go to the MK until our dinner ADR for Chef Mickey’s. After we’ll go back to the MK.
Tuesday August 12th - Start at the MK (maybe EMH), have an early lunch at CP, then head over to AK for the rest of the day. Since AK closes at 8, I'm not sure if we'll call it an early night and go to the hotel and swim or if we'll head to Epcot or the Studios for the fireworks.
Wednesday August 13th - Go to AK for EMH and stay there until about 3. After this, we’ll go back to the hotel and get ready for our 5 PM HDD ADR. Once here, hopefully we’ll get to meet Lisa (Magic Mickey) and her family then enjoy the dinner and show. After,we’re either going to do a wagon ride, then the campfire and singalong at FW, then watch the Electrical Water Pageant, or we’ll call it another early night and head for the pool.
Thursday August 14th - Epcot day. We’ll spend all day here, stopping for lunch at Akershus and then a CS dinner somewhere. It’s an evening EMH so we might stay here until 10 or so if Abby’s up to it.
Friday August 15th - MK day. We’ll either go in then leave for our late breakfast at 1900 PF or we’ll have a lazy morning at the hotel and start the day with 1900 before going into the park. We’ll see how we feel that day.
Saturday August 16th -MGM day. I’m not sure how we’re going to work this day. We have an early lunch at WCC then we have a 6ish ADR at 50’s PT (Lenny wants to see it even if all we get is sodas and desserts). I don’t know if we should start in the park, leave for lunch then go back or if we should just have another lazy morning at the hotel and go to the park after lunch. We don't want to do a lot but the main things we want to do are VOLM, B&B, GMR, TSM, Playhouse Disney and Fantasmic so any timing tips you guys have would be great.
Sunday August 17th - Lenny’s birthday and MK day. We have an early lunch at Tony’s that Lenny requested so we’ll probably go to the park early. After lunch, it will be up to Lenny whether we stay or go to one of the other parks. I think we’ll end up staying.but it’s his day so he gets to choose (although he’ll probably let Abby decide).
Monday August 18th - Last day for parks so we’ll end at MK. If Abby wants to hit somewhere else during the day we’ll do that. We have a 4:30 ADR at 1900 PF for our last dinner. From there, we’ll probably go to the MK and stay until Wishes then leave.
Tuesday August 19th - Unfortunately here’s the end of our Disney portion of the trip. We’ll pack up and leave by 11 am the absolute latest to get to the Sanford Auto Train Station for check in. Then we’ll spend the night on the train.
Wednesday August 20th - Another 9:30 am arrival scheduled. Whatever time we get in, we’ll head out and drive to Wilkes Barre PA where we’ll spend the night.
Thurdsday August 21st - Leave the hotel at whatever time (probably close to check out at 11am) and head home.
Up next will be the actual TR, but since we don’t leave until the 9th, it’s going to be a little while before I do that so please be patient with me.
So glad the stress ended and you will have a wonderful vaca with just Lenny and Abby!
As far as Aug 16th, I would see what time DHS opens that day, and then compare to your lunch ressie. If you have a few hours in b/t, I might would go to DHS at opening and do some of the more popular rides, exp: TSM, etc. Then head off to lunch then return. Unless that proves to be too much back and forth for Abby.
Sounds like you have a great relaxing trip planned! Have fun!
Goodness that was a ton of stress to have to deal with. Glad it is finally done and now you can can enjoy your vacation. Plans look great. Hope you have a magical trip.
