Graduation and Good bye: the Radcliffe family - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great Trip Report so far. Your meal at Le Cellier sounds like it was DELICIOUS! Can't wait to hear more! Sorry that your DD missed her graduation but I'm sure the trip to see Mickey & friends more than made up for it! Please post more!

After that wonderful lunch at Le Cellier, I didn't want to leave, but leave we must. We didn't go far though, as Off Kilter was just about to start a show. Scored a shady spot, and settled in for a good time. The technical difficulties that have been plaguing us all trip are still there; the lead singer's microphone died in the middle of the show. Didn't slow them down a bit; quick swap-a-roo with mikes and on they went.
It is sweltering now, so we take it real slow and head over to Japan. DD is in Pokemon heaven in the department store, but I find it a bit appalling. It just seems wrong, somehow, to see all this non-Disney licensed stuff being sold here. She buys a pillow for a friend, and we head outside to watch the drummers. Last year, they were in the courtyard, but this year they have moved to the temple porch. I like them better up there; you can see more.
Around the corner to America. Went inside and started looking around; a few minutes later the Voices of Liberty came out and started singing. DH was moved to tears by their rendition of Battle Hymn of the Republic. I liked the years of history pictured through their clothes. I'm an historical fashion buff, what can I say? We wanted to go upstairs for the American Adventure, but they wouldn't let me take the scooter up, as it was too close to the start of the show, and it would violate some kind of rule. So I had to park it outside and walk up. The show was very good, and I managed to get some pictures of it without using my flash.
It's now getting close to dinner time, so we head down to Norway to ride Maelstrom, than head back to Morocco. I feel like a pendulum, with all this back and forth-ing on that side of the lagoon.
My family all liked their dinners, but I had forgotten to call the night before about my allergy to onions. I had originally ordered the chicken bastilla for appetizers and the chicken couscous for dinner. I mentioned my allergy to the server, and he said that both had onions in them. I ended up with a salad for starters and chicken skewers with plain couscous for dinner. The chicken was good, but plain couscous, without any kind of sauce on it, is a lot like eating dust bunnies. Yuck.
Something she ate disagreed with my youngest daughter, and she started feeling sick. We grabbed a boat across the lagoon and headed back to the hotel for an early night.
I really like the refillable mugs. After being in that horrible heat all day, being able to drink all you want, for free, is a Good Idea. I took all 4 down to Rix's and grabbed something for everyone.
What a great trip so far (minus the technical difficulties). Sorry your DD missed her graduation but I would have chose a trip to WDW over graduation anyday...
So far the lines seem good and you are making great time on all the attractions...hopefully this will keep up through your vacation.
Lunch at Le Cellier sounded wonderful...sorry DD was feelign a bit sick after dinner but hopefully she will wake up feeling ready to go.
Great report. I doubt if the short lines will hold out for us next week! I'm sure it will be busy.

'08 POFQ- grad trip for DD#1 June 15-25!!!
Today is a day I have been looking forward to for quite some time. The girls are going to Typhoon Lagoon while I am going to MK alone with my DH. We arrived well before rope drop, and snagged a spot at the front of the line. When the rope fell, we went straight to Tomorrowland to ride Space Mountain. The right half of the ride wasn't working, so there was a short line. DH didn't want to ride it, so I scooted through the short line. At the front of the line, the CM said I couldn't take the scooter through, so he wrote me a special pass while I parked. I never used to like this ride, but now I quite enjoy it.
After meeting up with DH, we headed over to Pirates, but technical difficulties had it down for another hour, so we went over to check out the Tiki Room. It didn't open for another 15 minutes, so we went on the Jungle Cruise. Once off that, we went into the Tiki Room. I'm not sure I like it; but once you hear an actor voicing a character, any other actor's voice just doesn't sound right. Rowan Atkinson does Zazu, and that's that.
We finally got to ride Pirates; even though it opened late, there still wasn't any line. Got a few snuggles in, in between scenes. After Pirates, I was starting to feel the heat, so I wanted to ride Splash Mountain. My DH didn't, but said he would wait for me. This one had a 10 minute wait, but there were some technical problems once I reached the loading dock, which resulted in another 5 minutes wait. Got wet enough to cool me off, then grabbed DH and headed over to Haunted Mansion. A very short wait. When you go through the queue at HM in a scooter, the CM's pull you out of line at the hearse, to take you through the servant's entrance into the lobby before the stretching room. Because of this, I have never seen the whole cemetary.
After HM, it is now time for our lunch at the Plaza. We both ordered the tomato bisque, which I highly recommend. DH had a sandwich, and I had the chicken salad. Quite good, but too big. I had a sundae, while he had a strawberry shake. As we were eating our desserts, Scoop Sanderson and his companion, who's name I forget, came in and had fun with all the diners. Scoop noticed my pin lanyard, and asked me who my favorite character was. I love Stitch, but he was out of Stitch pins, so gave me a Pleakley pin instead. This was a very fun lunch.
