As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've never had a complaint with the cleanliness of any WDW room I've stayed in, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to call housekeeping and have them rectify the situation to my satisfaction.
Sadly, I think you're going to find inconsiderate guests at every resort. I've got no complaints at all about guests during my stay at POP, but 2 of the 4 nights we stayed in Concierge in the Polynesian were horrible noise-wise.

No matter what hotel we stay at, Disney or not, I always have noted on our reservation a request for a room in the quiet part of the hotel. There is nothing worse than being exhausted after a dy in the parks and not being able to sleep because of the noise at the hotel. This request seems to work well for us.
Now we are DVC members and have had absolutely no issues with noise at least at WDW!
You know, it seems like you read about more and more negative experiences at the value resorts these days. I hope that write to WDW and let them know about your experience. It doesn't matter if you're staying at a value, moderate or deluxe; yo're shelling out a lot of money and deserve Disney quality where ever you are.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Did you happen to call and complain about the noise, the messy rooms, or the items outside? Whether or not you did, I would suggest writing a letter to Disney to express your disappointment.
Unfortunately there does seem to be a decline in the level of service provided by various areas of WDW. I expect some wear and tear on the rooms, but there seems to be something missing in that gold-star service & surroundings that was there before. I try to remember that thousands of people visit the parks daily and ultimately, Disney is a business. Do we think they should be cutting housekeeping staff, of course not. But when it comes down to it, the dollar rules.
Well, that was rather pessimistic of me. Really, I go and have fun. I haven't had a bad resort room experience yet. We've run into some of the cheerleading and other tour crowds, and yes it can be annoying. So we now plan our trips accordingly. Avoid the Pop Warner crowds, etc.
We have stayed at other hotels (non-Disney trips) around our city and state, and we've maybe had two times where the rooms were not up to my idea of cleanliness. I politely went to the front desk and asked if we could have another room. Both times, the staff was very accomodating and switched us no problem. I look at it this way, I'm paying for the room so I need to be happy.
I hope this doesn't ruin your possible future trips to Disney.

It's unfortunate that you had such an unpleasant experience. I hope in addition to registering here to post your issues you emailed this to Guest Relations at wdw.guest.communications@disney.com as well. What were the CMs responses when you went to or called the front desk from your room?
i love the pop. IMHO, you get what you pay for at the value resorts. frankly, i'm there to experience disney world, and the hotel is just somewhere to sleep. i'd rather pay less than $100 a night than $300 a night if i'm only going to see the insides of my eyelids. i've never had a problem with the pop being to loud or dirty, but i guess i'm too tired or hyped up on adrenaline to realize it.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I've always had a good time at POP. I've had really good mousekeeping, and just average. I've had noisy neighbors, and quiet ones. Unfortunately, there's always a chance there will be rude people who don't consider other people. I try to be a good neighbor, but some don't. Luckily, I've never been at POP when there has been a big tour group there. I can see where that would take away some of the "magic". Definitely write a complaint. They need to know what is going on in the resort.
I agree, sometimes it is the group. And it is definitely the differences between mousekeepers. Our first stay was HORRIBLE and our second was wonderful. And BTG have alot to do with it.

I don't think that it is just because POP is a value resort, we have stayed at moderates and heard lots of noise sometimes, and we stayed at a deluxe and had noise problems also (especially late at night when the child up above our floor decided to run back and forth across the floor while we were trying to sleep below). I think noise comew with the terrritory for the most part and that real quiet is a special perk when you get it. But then again, maybe not. Anyway, I just don't think being a value is the only reason you might get noise (just maybe more of it).
I think it's summertime and a lot of other things not just one specific type of tour group. Let's face it, when it's hot and steamy nobody is in the best frame of mind so even the tiniest aggravation seems larger than it actually is.
Sorry to hear about your trip. We've stayed at POP twice before and we usually ask for a room on the top floor. That way, at least we don't hear people walking on the floor above us.
We were thinking about taking my mom to POP for Thanksgiving for her first trip to WDW, but after your report, I now may reconsider staying there.
