Gentlemen, Start Your Engines (NH, RED SOX & NASCAR!) **Updated 2/11** COMPLETE - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great TR Dyan! I'm not a fan of sitting under the overhang and if you sit too far up it gets boiling hot up there. My new favourite place to sit are the Monster Seats, but that won't happen too often.
Okay, folks! for all your wonderful comments and patience!! We returned from a week at Normandy Farms on Sunday. Recuperating from that (unpacking, laundry, etc) and catching up on the boards has kind of gotten in the way of this TR. In any event, on with the show!
Now playing: Fun & Games at the Campsite
Day 4 – Saturday, June 30, 2007
Today I wore my blue Josh Beckett Red Sox shirt, so today was dedicated to Red Sox pitcher – Josh Beckett #19. Beckett joined the team last season and I wasn’t so sure what to make of him at the time, but he has turned out to be a wonderful addition to Red Sox Nation. Kyle & I were fortunate enough to see him pitch Opening Day this year and he did not disappoint. He was a member of the American League All-Star team earlier this month and is one of the most ‘winning-est’ pitchers around with a 13-4 record; 3.27 ERA. We Josh Beckett!
Okay, enough about Beckett and on with Day 4! We got up and hung out at the campsite most of the day. We had noticed quite a few people had ‘moved in’ the night before, so I took a picture of the surrounding sites as best I could. Pretty much all of the sites are full now, but some are kind of hidden behind other trailers & such.
We played cards for a couple of hours in our ‘screen house.’ First we played Rummy and again I had a come-from-behind victory! Of course, Kyle insists I was hiding cards under my skin since I didn’t have any sleeves, but I WIN!! I WIN!! I WIN!! Then we played Skip-Bo and Jeffrey won.
After we got tired of that, Kyle & Jeffrey wanted to watch Ghost Rider, so we went inside the Pop-Tart to watch that. I don’t remember much of the movie, so I think I was playing around on the computer. Slingo Quest is my guess.
Jeffrey was having a tough time with some allergies, so we decided to make yet another trip to Wal-Mart. We managed to find some stuff that we knew wouldn’t interact with all his medications. We also picked up a pair of sunglasses for Kyle to help at the race in the event of a lot of sun. We were running low on cereal (the boys love to snack on it), so we got some of that. We picked up a few other things, as well as a loaf of Italian bread for dinner this evening. The damage this time was about $37
On the way back to the campsite, we passed this store that we always say we’re going to stop at, but we never do. The guy who owns it carves statues out of wood & makes other items. We’ve watched it grow over the years and the items are really neat. I asked Jeffrey to slow down so I could take a couple of shots. He actually pulled off the road so I could get some for the trip report!!
There was even a touch of Disney!
Jack Sparrow!
When we arrived back at the campsite, we decided to make our gourmet meal of spaghetti & meatballs. I made meatballs the week prior to our trip and doubled the amount I normally make. I froze half of them for our trip this week. There’s something about having spaghetti & meatballs while camping. It just seems so gourmet out in the ‘wilderness.’
After dinner, we sat by the campfire and listened to the Red Sox game on the radio. Kyle & I made banana boats! Josh Beckett was pitching against the Texas Rangers. Unfortunately, the Red Sox didn’t have a great outing and lost to the Rangers 5-4.
With the race being tomorrow, we called it an early night. It was also getting pretty cold outside anyway. It also looked like the weather would be tolerable at the race too!!
The best thing today was just hanging out and basically doing nothing The worst thing today was Jeffrey’s runny nose The funniest thing today was Kyle insisting that Dyan cheats while playing cards The weather today was 60’s – 70’s – windy – much cooler in the evening

Just getting caught up with your TR. What a great time you're having! I knew you were a Red Sox fan, but I had NO IDEA you were so into it that you know who all the players are and wear their #'s accordingly; very . Guess it's kind of like me and my soaps. BTW, that Josh Beckitt is leading man material; very easy on the eyes! Thanks for taking us to the game with you. I've never been to a baseball game before, and I've always wanted to go to Fenway. Someday...
Also, it was awesome that you got to be there on Roush Fenway night. My parents used to go to the NH NASCAR race every year with Dad's cousin and her husband and camp out. I've heard that on race weekends, the area around Loudon becomes the largest city in NH. They always said half the fun was checking out the neighbors' sites. One year, someone had a lifesize Gordon cutout, wearing a dress w/ pink curlers iattached to his hair, holding a sign that said "Girl Power". I have a picture of my parents next to it, holding all their Dale Jarrett #88 race gear. As you've probably guessed by now, I'm in agreement with those here who've said Jeff should've washed his hands after handling that #24 can!
Can't wait for the next installment. More please!

Yes, there will be more! DH has been experiencing some serious medical problems, so we've been dealing with that. While I've been able to peruse the boards & post, I just haven't been able to keep my concentration long enough to write the next installment. I'm hoping to write it tomorrow night, as DH should be well enough to make it through an overnight at work. Here's hoping!
Now I'm really looking forward to going to the game. Such a cool ballbark. I'll have to find out where our seats are. So nice you had a preview of the stadium besides the dorky ticket website pictures.
I'm just catching up with your TR, Dyan and I have to say that whilst the sporting references are completely lost on me, I love to read about them.
I'm not sure whether I've ever mentioned this, but when we were in Boston a few years back, there were some tickets available for the Red Sox game and Matt was desperate to go. The tickets were expensive so I refused to buy them, but instead we went on the Fenway Park tour (which was brilliant )
Anyway, in Chicago we did buy tickets to a Cubs game, and had a good time (even though I hadn't got a clue about what was going on) but I have always regretted not going to see the Red Sox game (and Matt has never let me forget it!). Maybe another trip to Boston is called for?
Sounds like a fab trip all round. And my, hasn't Kyle grown? Matt is still tiny. Perhaps I should start feeding him.

I didn't have too much of a choice, with my dad around. When my older brother just didn't like baseball (the HORROR!!!), he turned to me...I was a more than willing participant!! There is just something electric about Fenway & being at a game. Jeffrey was a fan when we got together, but now he's really getting into it too. To keep Jeffrey & Kyle well-versed on the Red Sox players, we play what I call the Red Sox number game (usually in the car). I call out a number and they tell me the name of the player. Great fun! Great fun!! Yup, I'm a dork!!
You should get to a game if you can, Lisa. You're not far from the Hall of Fame, are you? That's always a fun option too!!

Karen! You should visit Beantown again!! I'm sure your crew would a game at Fenway, especially Matt!!
And, I don't know what happened to Kyle. All of a sudden he shot up like a foot in about 6 months time. Okay, maybe not a foot, but he grew at an amazing rate! Matt will grow....over night....I promise you!! Feeding him might be a good start!
