The Fantastic Five Family Furlough Disneyland Report - Updated 3/6 **Complete** - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After dinner, the kids were full and rarin’ to go. We had a little more time to kill before our FP window for Screamin’ to open up. We decided to hit the Bugs Land, and most of the attractions here were a walk-on. The girls had a lot of fun, and we were able to do most of the rides in about 15 minutes.
Lisa and I (I look shocked and scared , and Lisa looks tired here)
Morgan, Madison, and Kaitlyn
Madison, Lisa, Morgan, and Kaitlyn
Then it was time for our night-time ride on Screamin’. It was so much fun, and a whole different experience riding it at night! This time, I rode next to Morgan. She held on tight, but was grinning from ear to ear the whole time!!
After Screamin’, we decided to see how the line for Mulholland Madness was. It was a really long wait, something like 40 minutes, so we decided to pass. Lisa and her girls took a spin on the Zeypher, and Kaitlyn and I did some quick window shopping. The long day was starting to catch up with us, so we decided it was time to head back to the hotel for some much-needed rest. The kids were asleep not 10 minutes after we were back in the room, and Lisa and I weren’t far behind them.
The weather was beautiful today, and warmer than Phoenix! The best thing today was getting to spend the day at Disneyland with our family, and the short wait times for ToT and Aladdin. The worst thing today was that woman being an idiot during Turtle Talk The funniest thing today was ‘look, Dad, there’s Antifreeze!’ Today we tried Turtle Talk and Monsters Inc. And the result was glad we tried them, but aren’t must do’s for Kaity and I The most magical moment today was seeing the joy on Morgan and Madison’s faces when they got to meet their favorite Princesses at Ariel’s Grotto

We were all up bright and early on Sunday morning. After everyone got ready, we had a light breakfast in the room. We quickly packed up, and made it downstairs for the first shuttle of the morning. We got to DLP just a few minutes after it opened. I have found that by getting to DLP on a Sunday morning, very early, you can get so much done! That first hour or two, every attraction is practically a walk on.
The first thing I wanted to do was to get a birthday button. I normally would not advertise my birthday, and it actually isn't until today, but I wanted the Million Dream CM's to take notice! Alas, we did not get the Dream FP's, as I was hoping for. I told my sister and Kaitlyn all about the Million Dreams promotion, though, and we saw tons of people walking around that had received them.
As I was in the main hall getting my button, Lisa stayed outside with the kids, and they saw Alice and the Mad Hatter. The Mad Hatter was great! He signed the autograph books using Morgan's head as a table! Then he told Madison that she had a good name, because anyone named "Mad" couldn't be bad!
The Mad Hatter, using Morgan's head as a table!
We headed for the Matterhorn first. That is such a fun ride! It was a great way to start off the morning.
Morgan and Kaitlyn on the Matterhorn
The girls were chanting ‘teacups, teacups!’, so we ran over there next. I have no idea why we ran because the CM was literally just standing there with the gate open, waiting for us! But I think it is so invigorating and exciting, to be able to go from one attraction to another, without being bogged down by tons of people and endless lines, that we were dashing from one thing to the next.
Our self-portrait while trying to spin on the teacups!
Lisa, Morgan and Madison (look how empty the park still is!! )
After our spin on the teacups, we decided to do Space Mountain. I had been really anxious to ride Space Mountain, as I hadn’t been on it since the rehab. It had been closed for the last three times I had been to the park! On the way over there, we passed Buzz Lightyear, so we had to take a spin! It was posted as a 5 minute wait, but I know it was less than that. Okay, my score was so terrible; I am not going to post it.
I think the only one I beat was Madison! But Lisa did really well, and she was the clear winner!
After our spin on the Space Rangers, we hit Space Mountain. It was posted as 10 minutes. There is no way we waited that long. Can I just say, the improvements are A W E S O M E!!! I absolutely d it!! I love all of the new lights and the feeling that you are almost going backwards at the end, right when the cameras go off. POTC has always been Lisa’s and my favorite, but after this trip, we decided that Space Mountain is now our top pick. The Red Hot Chili Peppers music that they had blasting through the speakers was perfectly timed, and we all just came off the ride feeling energized and alive! Everyone getting off this attraction had big grins on their faces, and we could see them giving each other high-fives and going ‘yeah!’. The CM’s did a fantastic job! As soon as the ride was over, all of the kids, Lisa included were wanting to ride again. We went outside, but the stand-by was now saying 20 minutes. We decided to get our first FP’s of the day, and the return time was 10:30am.
