As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Put down your drink! Karen and Eileen storm WDW 6/16 - pre-trip - showing off - 6/11
Okay, now for some of the plans and a little showing off...
Karen is the master of the planning and I have to admit to sitting back and simply enjoying what she has in store for us. She has created the most awesome itinerary in Excel and it's truly inspiring -- we've taken to calling it the Big @$$ spreadsheet! (I always thought of myself as an extreme planner, but now I know that I'm only an apprentice in Sorcerer Karen's presence!)
As I mentioned before, we are surprising the boys with several things. The first of which is the Sunrise Safari for Zack's birthday. I made a little card to give him to let him in on the surprise the night before (I'm hoping it'll help get kids out of bed at that ungodly hour if they know that it's for a good reason!):
/
Later in the week, we are joining Carla (cjadkins) and her family (DH Mike and son Mikey) and Linda (MickeyMAC) and her family (DH Jeff and kids Rebekah and Ryan). I made a little card for this event too. Since Calder is waaaay into treasure hunts and clues, I'm going to give this card to him.
The poem inside will give them an idea -
"We have to leave at 8 o’clock
to find our friends upon the dock.
We’ll board our boat and take a seat
and have a little meet and greet
Our cruise will take us ‘round the way,
beneath a bridge we walk by day.
At Epcot’s edge we’ll see the sights —
...Illuminations’ globe alight.
The booms, the cracks, the rocket’s glare,
the plumes and fire will make us stare.
Then back to “home” we'll make our way
a perfect end of a Disney day.
So there you have it - - the clues are done.
I hope this little game was fun!
And now I ask if you have guessed
the answer to this little test?"
When they guess, I'll give them this card:
I posted a few weeks ago the pictures of the autograph books I made - I've updated with some changes and have a link to a SURPRISE for Karen. http://www.passporterboards.com/ubb/show...part=1&vc=1 (Who is not to follow that link!! )

Re: Put down your drink! Karen and Eileen storm WDW 6/16 - pre-trip - showing off - 6/11
Okay...
I'm so hoping that I haven't jinxed us by using the word "storm" in the title of this pre-trip report.
Didja see this?! Tropical Storm Alberto! It looks to be passing north of Orlando and will clear out before we both have to fly, but it means that we won't be able to escape the humidity. Ugh! (Not that there was much chance of that in June in Florida, but a girl could hope...
Well... here's what we'll be doing:
Calder and I fly into MCO and arrive around 1 o'clock. We'll take DME to the AKL and try to check-in early enough to secure a terrific room. Then we'll hang the posters and banner I made yesterday and we'll throw streamers everywhere for Zack's birthday.
Calder wants us to go to a park for the evening, and I'm guessing it'll be the MK. Then, we'll head back to the room to await the Weary Weisses who will arrive on a DME bus at around 8PM. I think we'll hang out and enjoy the lounge and the AKL pool.
At this point, Commander Karen takes over the planning and organizing and I sit back and look for the nearest bench but I can relay the plans that I know about.
Saturday - 6/17
We're heading for the AK for EMH - EE here we come!!
9:30 - Breakfastosaurus
We'll transfer to MGM for the midmorning (TOT and my first ever RnR!) and then head back to the AKL for swimming and "concierge lounging."
7:00 – Boma (or lounge -- not sure that CJ and I will do Boma... he's just not into it and I hate to pay adult prices for chicken nuggets and Mac & Cheese.
Before we hit the hay, I'll give Zack the card for the Sunrise Safari.
Sunday 6/18
At the butt crack of dawn -- well, actually... BEFORE dawn! -- we'll be awake and boarding a bus for the Safari. We'll have private breakfast with our safari mates at Tusker House.
Our plans afterwards are changeable, but I'm guessing the boys will enjoy some down time at the AKL pool, while Karen and I pack up the room. Karen has offered to go to the Beach Club and get us checked in while I stay with the boys.
After we make the transfer, we'll probably do some Storm Along Bay exploring and then we'll catch the monorail to the Contemporary for a birthday dinner at Chef Mickeys and then enjoy Wishes.
Monday 6/19
This is our easy day (I'll be feeling the afteraffects of my MS shot and I'm usually a little cranky and sore until lunchtime.) Karen has grand plans of making the boys pancakes in the villa - I'm planning on a gallon of coffee!
Then it's over to Epcot to do some exploring before our noon lunch at Coral Reef.
More exploring and then Alfredo's -- a first for me!!
That night is EMH at the AK - and I hope to ride EE as much as humanly possible!
Tuesday, June 20
We'll do EMH at MK and then transfer to the GF (which I've never even walked through!!) for a 9:30 breakfast at 1900 Park Fair
Afterwards, we'll take our Lego-mad boys to Downtown Disney for lots of tiny bits of plastic.
Back to SAB to cool off.
Head back to Epcot for evening EMH and a dinner at Teppanyaki
Wednesday, June 21
We'll do a Counter service breakfast before heading to the AK for EMH.
Head over to MGM - We are bound and determined to see the LMASS show (which Karen and I both pronounce as "lame-@$$" -- not as a criticism, just because that's how I always read that acronym! ) A first for the Lloyds.
More SAB and we're making cookies at the villa.
The boys will watch a movie and eat pizza while Karen and I go to get our money's worth at the Yachtsman Steakhouse!!!
Then I'll give Calder the card to surprise them for the Illuminations fireworks cruise. We'll meet our PP cruise-mates and start praying for no wind to blow the smoke into our eyes!!
If we're feeling up to it, we'll go to MGM for the evening EMH.
Thursday, June 22 The Lloyd's last day Although I'm going to try to see if my flight can be changed (it's overbooked and they might be willing to waive the fee and reassign us -- if we bat our eyelashes enough!)
We're going to the MK for EMH and for a surprise for Calder - the Family Magic Tour. (A gift from Karen, who's waaaay too generous!)
We're going to try for a Passporter meet with Kim (DavidsMom) and Cam (Cam22) at Beaches and Cream.
Our flight leaves that night at 7:30, so we'll be heading for the airport by 3PM.
Karen and Zack will stay at the BCV for Thursday night. They move to the WL for the weekend and, I think, their flight leaves wicked early on Sunday. Karen will have to fill you in on their plans...
