Disneyland in December: Day 5 - Saturday, 12/17

Weather: mid 60’s & cloudy
Wakeup call at 6:45, leaving room by 7:35. Got right on the monorail & in the park by 7:50 – already people walking around. Found out later that the park opened at 8 & the early entry was actually at 7:00. Oh well! We made two more visits on Space Mountain before 8:15 – I really hope they rehab the WDW version similar to his sometime soon! Walked over to Fantasyland to visit with Alice, then got in line at Storybook Boats about 8:35. Had a nice ride with a good skipper.
Went over to Toontown – this is when we found out that everything had been scheduled an hour earlier than we thought, so we missed the Morning Madness. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] We got in line for it’s a small world and saw the clock strike 9. There was only 1 line running at this point, so it was a little backed up. We then went to Toontown for another ride with Benny the Taxi… the line was fairly short – we were all the way thru the dip factory before we caught up with it. Our camera was misbehaving, so we went around & got in line again, since the line was fairly short.
Santa Goofy was in the Toontown Gazebo, so about 9:55 we got in line to visit with him. Next up was a visit with Minnie at her house. About 10:45 we left Toontown and waited at the train station to ride around to New Orleans Square/Frontierland. Lunch was starting to sound good, so we made a visit to the Hungry Bear about 11:20. I had a veggie burger & really good onion rings, and Scott had another cheeseburger & fries. We sat over on the river side about halfway back & it was fairly quiet, even tho the crowds in the park were starting to build. We got in line to see Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore about 11:50 – one line took you around to see all 3 of them. While we were waiting, Scott bought me a Cutie Eeyore who posed with us in all the pictures. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] About 12:25 we got in line for Pooh’s ride - which was shorter than the line to visit the characters!
The Davy Crockett canoes were running, so I gave that a try – quite a bit of work, especially when the people in front of you are clueless about paddling... By 12:45 we were taking a raft over to Tom Sawyer’s Island. Took a quick tour of the area & got some good views and pictures from the treehouse lookout. Took a raft back about 1:10 and headed over to the boat dock just as the Columbia was loading – good timing! It was pretty full when we cast off about 1:30 – tho New Orleans Square was even busier! I did take time to go below deck & check out the displays. We stood mostly on the starboard side of the ship, so mostly saw TSI.
Stopped by the FP machines for Indy on the way to Main Street - VERY congested area – and as of about 2:00 the FP return time was 6… definitely getting busy around the park.

Got back to the room about 2:40 – Scott went to get our purchases from the car so we could consolidate & pack. Since we had a reservation at Goofy’s Kitchen tomorrow & planned on staying up late tonight, we figured packing most everything early was a good idea.
Rested til about 4:20 & then back to the monorail – which filled up just before we could get on. Got a seat on the second monorail & headed over to Hatmosphere once we exited so Scott could get his golden mouse ears. We then went to the Castle Courtyard in search of the Dickens Carolers – we’d gotten their appearance schedule from Guest Relations earlier, but they never showed. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/pout.gif[/img] We headed over to Frontierland to hopefully stake out at Fantasmic! spot. At about 5:20, PotC had a 25-min posted wait, so we decided to sail the Spanish Main one more time. Had quite the traffic jam near the end of the attraction – backed all the way up into the jail room scene. While we waited, we decided to skip the 9:00 showing of Fantasmic! The crowds were just too crazy for us & 5 days of concentrated fun had left us pretty pooped out. I decided I wanted one more churro, so stood in a HUGE line (easily 20 min long) while Scott made his way over to the train station. I made the mistake of choosing the caramel dipping sauce …. Not only is it a little tricky to dip in the dark & in crowds, but the CM’s hadn’t kept the dips warm & since it was only about 55 degrees by this time, the sauce was thick and sticky! I paid for it, tho – so I was gonna eat it! Well, eat and wear it…. I had multiple strings of caramel all over the front of my sweatshirt by the time I was done… [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/foreheadslap.gif[/img].
We got back to the hotel & I ordered a pizza. We were told 35 min ….. over an hour (and 2 calls to the store) later, the pizza finally arrived [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]. I’m afraid I was a little short with the delivery driver (tired & hunry = CRANKY!), but I did still tip. After we ate, we realized we just couldn’t make it back to the park…. Fantasmic! at DL will just have to wait for another time. We went to bed just after the fireworks about 9:30.
