Disney's Coronado Springs Resort (Disney Moderate Resort) Reviews and Ratings - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Our family loved this resort we were in cabanas section 8A next to the Dig site and bus stop. The cabanas section was great we loved being next to the main pool, five minute walk to El centro and the bus stop was very close. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Update:
Just wanted to add that we stayed at CBR in MAy 2010 and my husband and I kept saying we can't wait to go back to Coronado springs> we are planning a trip in 2011 and this is where we are going to stay. The pepper market was great, lots of variety if your planning on eating at the resort. The buses ran very efficiently as opposed to our stay at cbr. Great resort !!!!

I loved the CSR. It is my fave of all the resorts that I have been to thus far. That fact that it is a convention center means that it includes some adult amenities that the other moderate resorts do not.
It is also very quiet. Therefore, it is perfect for romance and couples.
Families with small children would probably be happier at the CBR if looking for a moderate resort. The AS or POP would also be more "family" oriented than the CSR.

We visited the resort at the end of its room refurb, and the quality of the rooms is terrific. Love the fluffy white duvets and comfy queen beds. The sliding doors to the closet/dressing area makes a really nice space if you are travelling with a full room. (Being able to send ds in to get dressed, or close the doors and putter and get organized in the morning while the others slept...) The laundry room was well kept and the machines all worked! Mousekeeping was efficient and did the job well, and front desk/concierge/bell services also great. The resort is large, but our location in 9A was perfect and we never felt it was a trek to get anywhere. We were there during the start of a very large convention, but it meant the facilities were less crowded for us "leisure travellers". Looking forward to another opportunity to stay at this resort.

I LOVE Coronado Springs resort. The Pepper Market is excellent! The pool is beautiful and I love the hammocks with sand underneath them to make you feel like you are on a tropical island.I would go there every year if I could!!!
Just returned from our 8th stay at CSR and already counting the days until we are back "home." Everything was perfect for our mini-visit; love the new rooms--the beds are comfy, the decor beautiful. The resort was well kept--we constantly saw workers taking care of the landscaping, etc. The only issue we had this trip was the ignorant guest smoking on the ledge of the quiet pool and the one guest actually smoking in the pool -- what's up with that?
But overall, we had a wonderful stay and we still love the CSR and it will continue to be our resort of choice.

Coronado is definitely our least favorite of the moderates. While pretty to look at, the rooms seem very worn and dated. Even the newly updated rooms had very old beds. The food options have slipped over the years and the Cast Members we encountered were not as "magical" as other resorts. Definitely not a deluxe feel based on our experience.
This is my family's favorite resort. All of the things people list as "cons" make us love it. The fact that most of the guests were busy in a convention meant that they were not in our way, that the buses were never crowded & they were quieter than many adult vacationers are (most people aren't going to get crazy with their boss in the same resort). The size was also a plus for us. There was a bus stop near our room so we didn't have to walk much most days & the size added to the tranquility. The laid back atmosphere is perfect for my family. The theming is beautiful & the food court was better than most. I would not recommend this resort for families with young children, but for adults & families with teens, I think it is ideal.
We stayed at CSR during December. It was our first time staying at the resort over the holidays. The decorations at the resort and parks were tremendous. I loved the atmosphere!
It was cold so we really didn't use the pool, hot tub or outdoor amenities this trip.
The bus service was fantastic as always.
Mousekeeping was very good. Our room was always done by mid day.

We stayed at CS for two nights and were very pleased! The resort had an overall calm appealing feel and the Southwest theme was great!
We stayed in Cabanas 8B (specifically room 8271? can't quite remember) and thanks to some special disney magic we had been upgraded to a Junior Suite ! But anyway the accommodations were more than satisfactory. We were very close to both the quiet pool, a bus stop, and the dig site pool! Both of the pools were great especially the dig site pool with the waterslide (and the biggest hot tub on Disney property was much welcomed at the end of the day).
Nothing super special about the room itself - very nice living room area - leather couch, flat screen TV, leather chair, typical round table with two chairs. The bedroom was traditionally a accessible room so the bed was lower to the ground but still very nice and comfortable. The desk had no drawers (maybe due to the room being accessible) which I found awkward and the bathroom area was nice.
Overall it was clean, comfortable, had fun theming, and I felt like I got what I paid for. That said I did use a 35% off code so I feel like I got what I paid for at the 35% off rate.
Of the downfalls were the dining options - limited to one bakery, one quick service, and one sit-down which all offered nice food and nice service but I didn't feel the disney magic. Another was in some of the service from the staff because it's a convention hotel I think they are used to dealing more with business guests than families/vacationers so they tend to be a little less playful (aka no towel animals, huge smiles at check-in, playing with the kids - little Disney things).
Anyway I liked it and would go back if I had a discount code
We just returned from a 6 nite stay at CS April 14-20. I have to say I was dissappointed. The room itself was nice - clean, comfy beds, plenty of towels and toiletries. THere was a coffee maker (we did not use it) and all the other niceties. The Mousekeeper left extra plastic bags, towels, and some nice toiletries (sun burn relief, bath gel, toothbrushes, etc.) We did not get any towel animals. But our room location was awful..right at the parking lot and VERY far from the elevator. We were using DMX so I thought it was odd that we had a room on the lot. THe CM that checked us in did not explain properly how to get to our room so we took the long way while carrying luggage. WHen we left the room shortly there after DH had looked at the resort map and thought we could get to the bus stop quicker via the lot. WRONG!!! We had to walk all the way around the convention center to get back to the resort and there were no options other that completely turning around. We never saw the "golf carts" giving anyone a ride except for a very few guests just checking in. THere were lots of cars parked in out of the way places but not many in use. The hike to the main pool was very, very far and you need to take a rest when you get there before going swimming. The food court worked okay for us. One morning DH and the kids had to wait for over 30 minutes to get seated. Also around 8 one evening we stopped for something to take to the room and found that there were not enough CMs working at the food stations. I had to go to another station and ask for someone to help us at the kids station. I do think they could have better signage in the food station area. People get confused on where to order and also exactly what they can order at a specific station. I also think they should have a better place to refill mugs. There is only the crowded area in Rix's and it can get quite congested. The laundry was clean but it also was very, very far from our room and the first time both change machines were out of service. Also the signage throughout the resort on where the laundry was located was done poorly. WHen I finally found it, I realized there was a better, more direct way than what the signs showed. We also encountered problems with the buses. Each day we were there one park was left out...there would be 2 or 3 buses to the other places before one would come for that park. Of course it was usually the park we were trying to get to. We never took the bus to Epcot....we would go to DHS and take the boat to EPcot. We never had to wait very long to get back to the resort so that was nice. I think I would be willing to stay here again but only if my room was better located. But I would pick this one as my last choice.

For this trip, just dh and me, we went with a mod so we could have a hot tub. This was only our second stay at a mod- we normally do value. The resort was absolutely gorgeous. We really loved the themeing. We got one of the buildings we requested in the Cabana section, which was near the Dig Site- pool and such. We knew we'd be spending a lot of time there and with the pool bar, it would be convenient to have our mugs refilled there. We were quite disappointed though. The pool bar closed at 7 each night and we we never there before 9. The main building was just way too far to walk to from the pool for a refill. And even when we did get refills, the beverage island was very inconvenient. Rix cafe is very small and often became crowded. The resort was just too large for our liking. We did like the counter service location- The Pepper Market. Very good! We didn't use it, but we liked that there was a lounge/dance club on property.

I had high hopes after getting such great feedback about CSR. We booked here mainly because of the Queen beds. Our party was MIL & FIL in one room, and me, DH, DD5 and DD2 in a connecting room.
On arrival we were told that they could not honor our room request that we had made one year prior on our original reservation, or even anything CLOSE, and we were put in the farthest building away from the main building and the pool/playground. Not off to a great start.
I requested help from Bell services since we had 6 bags, 2 strollers, it was raining, and we had a Looooong walk to our room, and they told me I would have to wait at least half an hour. With two hungry, tired kids in the lobby with all of our bags and strollers and it pouring outside so they couldn't even run around? No thanks.
We requested a microwave to make the girls oatmeal for breakfast and had to ask 3 times over 2 days before it finally showed up.
We arrived at our room in the rain late in the evening, but the next morning awoke to the sound of sand blasting being done on the stucco and found cherry pickers placed all around our building with big ugly white barriers around them. This blocked several walkways and we found ourselves in a maze to get from our room to the bus stop. There were workers all over our building like ants working on it all week, sanding and painting. Sanding at naptime was especially irritating. The buildings just looked ugly with all of the big white stucco patching and painting being done - really ruined the magic. I realize this stuff has to get done, but do it on the off season and don't rent those rooms, or give us a discount for the inconvenience - I paid the same price as the people on the other side of the lake that had a peaceful quiet room at naptime with two little kids who badly needed to sleep.
The one day we went to the pool it was closed for cleaning - at 2pm in the afternoon - for an hour. The bartender was no where to be found at the pool, after waiting about 10 minutes in line with no one even acknowledging us I gave up.
The one night we played it low key and made the haul over to Pepper Market we were sorely disappointed. The food was terrible and the server actually ASKED for a tip by saying Don't forget gratuity is not included and should be paid at the table! SHOCKED!
Upon departure, bell services was 15 minutes late, which I knew better by this point and gave them a time 15 minutes before we needed to leave the room, so we were actually on time but they didn't know that - and didn't apologize.
I guess the only plus about the whole stay was that we were near bus stop 2, which is the first stop on the route. I can't count how many times people were kicked off the bus at the last stop because there was a person in a scooter who got priority (one of whom we later saw walking energetically around the park carrying a heavy looking backpack). This concept I do not understand. I would have thrown a fit Rumpelstiltskin style if they tried to remove me and my kids who had already been on the bus for 3 stops, they would have had a tantrum to end them all, especially the 2 year old who would not have understood. They need a better system, but that's a whole different thread!
Would NOT stay here ever again... I would pay good money for a Deluxe if I had to in order to avoid this hotel.
We just got back from our week long vacation to Disney World where we stayed at Coronado. Reading all these reviews I was a little worried about staying there, but I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The grounds are large and depending where you are it can take you a while to walk around. It took us about 10 mins to get to El Centro, but the walk walk really nice because of the scenery. I couldn't complain there! We did the on-line check in and they had our room ready when we arrived which was about 1:00 pm. We asked for connecting rooms and we got that also.
I also read some reviews where the food wasn't good at the Pepper Market. (its like a food court). Many people said they didn't know how to do breakfast and the food was not good. I guess you can't please everybody but they pleased me! I thought they had a very good selection and the food was very tasty. And they definetely did not skimp you on the food. We got to-go boxes everytime! We really enjoyed the breakfast. They had everything from scrambled eggs, waffles, breakfast burritoes, or just fruit. We always left satisfied. I can't really say that much about the Maya Restaraunt because we only ate there once. But what we did have was good.
I was very satisfied with the rooms. We stayed in the Casitas building 5. They were doing work on the buildings around us, re-painting and such, so it was a bit noisy when we left in the mornings for the parks. But we really didn't mind it. We knew they do most of the refurbishing in the off season, and I think it's a good thing that they keep so much up-keep with the resorts. Our room was very spacious with a beautiful view of the water. The beds were very comfy and the bathrooms seemed pretty clean, about as clean as a bathroom can be! We had a nice flat-screen tv that my husband loved! I can't lie... so did my daughter and I!!
Cant forget about the pool!! The pool was awesome! The kids seemed to have a great time there with the slide. The hot tub was very big and felt good after a long day in the parks. The quiet pool was also nice, a quiet change away from the kids having fun at the big pool!
I was really sad to leave Coronado, we had such a wonderful stay there. We even loved going in the gift shop. I think I went in there everyday just to look around! Our next trip we will definetely be booking there again and we really can't wait!
