THIRD TIMES A CHARM LIVE OR SORT OF - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like a nice relaxing day! That's cool that they provide seminars.
Day was nice and quiet. The seminars they hold cover very basic material and in most they recommend unofficially of course some product that just happens to be something they carry most of which is in fact good stuff
I went back for the other seminar I wanted to attend. Again nice to hear what I am doing is right and things I am looking at at least I am looking in the right direction. Did get a nice heads up on a new sewage treatment product that is a cut above most of what is out there. Giving it a try, going to see how works real world.
Dinner was take out from Exit 10 Cafe.
Day 2
Tuesday was an early day for both of us. Over to the Service Center for the Class Room portion of Driver Confidence course. I was wrong when I said it started at 9 not till 9:30 so we had time to kill. We decided some breakfast wouldn't hurt so up to The Front Porch we went. While we ate there was a gentleman speaking with one of the Sales Associates fro the TV show "Big Time RV". I swore I knew him but couldn't place him. Lucille didn't recognize him but I thought it our Sales Associate so I went over and asked. It was in Robert. I had known he left the company like 6 months ago and was happy to hear he had just the day before come back. Not that we plan on needing his help in the immediate future but good to know he is there.
The class room portion was a bit intense and could you use better visual aids to display certain aspects. At the break we ran back to our site and took the girls for a dog park trip
After the lunch break came the actual driving portion of the course. Maynard the instructor described what we would do before getting us all loaded into one of their coaches and taking us to the Resort. Once there Lucille was chosen to go first. Now for the 4.5 years we have had a Class A Motor Home she has told me that we need to go to the local rest stop off Route 1 near home so she can get some wheel time. Only to back off every time I broach the subject. I asked if I could stay behind or be locked in a basement storage compartment so she would only have Maynard to listen to. While he agreed that might be a good idea it was a no go. She actually did a very good job. But once we were both done (I went next and they had internal transportation waiting to take us back as there were 7 people in the class and seating for 6 ) she advised me that was it she was done.
EXIT 10 was again our choice due to the fact our site was just large enough for our rig and our bikes on the rack off our trailer hitch were right on top of the bushes behind us.
Sounds like you're learning a lot, but I with Lucille. I wouldn't drive one of those RVs unless it was an absolute emergency.
I did learn a great deal and would even consider doing the same ones and others in the future. The whole idea of her learning to drive is that in the case of that emergency is she can. The system they teach and I do intend to employ it helps you to judge where you are in your lane and to navigate turns

She did great Pam. And wad hppy we were first awe got to go back to the Kids.
Today was a really hang day. I had wanted to hit the pool as the only seminar that interested me for the day was the "Traveling with Pets". Now our furballs was a big chunk of why we got a coach. Since we got they have come with us and as a Kid our dog came with us when we went camping.
The woman giving the course and I were the only ones in attendance so it turned more into a swap stories from the road of things we have seen or done based on the curriculum.
Unfortunately on my way over the rain started so there went pool time. Again a take out dinner from Exit 10.
DAY 4 AT LAZY DAY
We to find the local forecast was in deed correct. About 04:30 I got up as the wind was causing the shade/cover of the slide extender for our bed was flapping and the and rain were pelting the roof to the extent that you could notice it I had been trying to get Lucille to attend the Convection Oven Cooking Seminar with me but she said as I was going to empty our holding tanks she would stay back to do more laundry so the gray water one would be full enough to flush out the waste before I disconnected it. So off to basic Fire Safety I went. Again some great ideas were presented and some things need to be put into practice.. I did go grab a sandwich at the Front Porch Cafe as the rain was coming down in sheets as I started to leave. The cooking class turned more into a history of introduction of that technology at EXIT 10 so I decided to skip it. The 2 afternoon sessions I wanted to hit Basic Electrical and Holding Tank Management were both cancelled due to the weather.
The rain was the story of the day. In Tampa we got over 3.5 inches of rain and the area had 3 tornadoes within a 100 mile radius of the city. So while watched TV and read in the coach taking the girls out during major lulls we could see the catch basin just behind the property steady rising During the afternoon I estimate it came up a good 3 feet. I was tempted to call TIFFIN and ask where was the Pontoon deployment switch but Lucille gave me Leroy Jethro Gibb's head slap so I decided against it. Dinner was the Left Over Fried Chicken from the night before
Sorry to hear you had so much rain on Day 4 that it cancelled some of your classes. I hope that it stops raining before you head out to Fort Wilderness.

Cam and Dave weather did start to improve but not till we left Lazy Days and were her ein Ft Wilderness.
Today we move over to Disney. I was up at 0630 and by 7 had returned our golf cart our grill, cooking prep table and propane tank I had secured the night before during a lull in the rain. After Lucille got up we both had coffee and I went ot to do the rest of our teardown. Holding tanks empty and hoses cleaned and stored , slides in, level jacks up, electric disconnect and cord secured. At 0840 we were pulling out of the gate. An hour later we were at the front gate of Ft Wilderness. They had us in the 1700 loop. Nice loop with large sites but a bit far from the canal and dog walk zone, So I asked if there was anything else available like in the 1800 or 1600 loops. The super nice CM checked and said there was one in front of the dog walk and canal in the 1800' Before she could tell me which one I asked "1811?" when said yes Lucille and I in unison shouted we'll take it. We had this site 3 years with WookieBear and Maggie and it worked very well for
us.

No surprise as the weather improved once you arrived in Disney "Under The Bubble" as you were now in the place where the "Magic" is bestowed upon all!

Transition Day cont.
While I was setting up Dave A. from Disboards came by and dropped off the Traveling Fire Pit donated 2 months ago by a member. Good visit and good to meet him his daughter and her new aquired fiance. Then it was up to the outpost and meet with the UBER driver to go get the golf cart. I was sharing the truck and trailer to bring it back with another couple and they were there already and claimed the cart that I had been assigned might be a good thing as Sky is afraid to get in the back and I need to lift her in . Then it was time to head to Disney Springs and secure our APs and TIW card. While there we did some quick shopping at w=WORLD OF DISNEY but every thing seems to be Holiday themed . Not exactly what we were looking for.
Coming back to our DVC (Mobile class) we did some basic house keeping and took the GIRLS for another walk before heading to Trails End for a much needed dinner.
