As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). $0 day! However, I did forget to "report" the $11 I spent on iTunes the other day. I have a giftcard, but I forgot about it until after the purchase was complete - will use it another time.
We just got back from our birthday trip to WDW -- and I'm happy to report that the DS and I kept the food budget very low and we were able to cover all our expenditures with the $200 gift card that came with the package and my Disney Visa rewards. (Now... the trip itself? That was pricey and we could've saved by going value.... But, heck! It was worth it to see DS smiling so broadly after all he's been through the past 6 months.)
Other good news: the supplemental insurance came through and should cover the insulin pump!!
We're going to have a couple of co-pays this month, but it should otherwise be a good budget month for us. (I hope!)

$24 on gas this morning and $6 on lunch. I just could NOT do another frozen dinner for lunch today -- I don't know why -- and I didn't have time to make a sandwich or anything.
I finally found the March thread. Boy do I need it. After a very successful February, I have not been so good, so far this month. I need to get back on the wagon.
3/1 - I had to do our weekly grocery shopping, since i missed it on Saturday - my budget was $80, but I was slightly over that at $102.43. The grocery store had a big $1 sale on a lot of items, so I stocked up on a few things. Hopefully I can stick to less each week, the next couple of weeks.
3/2 - $0 spent today. A good day.
3/3 - $2.55 for morning coffee & muffin - I was just tired of my boring breakfast. I must nip this in the bud. $17 for bowling (budgeted). The girls went to the dentist - $156 total - will get this back from the benefits company.
3/4 - $3.10 for lunch - wanted something warm for lunch - I'm slipping into old habits.
3/5 - $2.55 for coffee and muffin AGAIN. Must stop, please help. Also bought lunch $8.55 (I was late getting up today and didn't pack lunch).
OK - now that I have started reporting in again. I must go back to not eating out!!!!!

$13 for a cake for my managers birthday- but everyone but the annoying co worker gave me some $$ so, it was actually ony 6$ and if she was NOT the annoying co worker, it would have been less- she did however have a honking HUGE piece of the cake and was the first one to grab the card that I made and sign it--- she irks me soooooo much

I spent $3.00 for tea and a hard roll for breakfast. I went to my sisters for dinner tonight. She has a 4 week old baby, and had my dad and my cousins over for dinner. I love holding that baby so much that I feel I should pay her. Nothing feels better to me than holding an infant while he sleeps. It makes me think - how is my baby now 15??????

Oh.My.GAWD!! I laughed *so* hard at that (between coughs from this stooooopid cold) -- that was hysterical. Phew... I really appreciated that laugh!
Unfortunately, I think the only gift cards I have left are ones for the movie theatre and my Starbucks cards -- everything will have to have real money. (Or as real as I can make it in my basement. )
Yesterday didn't turn out to be $0. I found a great deal on a programmable Salter scale (normally $99) for $69 with free shipping. (These are essential when carb counting for a diabetic.) Then I had to go grocery shopping because DH ate everything in the fridge while we were gone -- that was another $55.

Hi All!!! Sorry to have basically fallen off the face of the earth... or at least it feels that way -
I am in DC - have been for the week and have two more weeks to go. I, like Scarlett, get per diem - and it's pretty good. We have hotel food in the mornings and some evenings to cut the costs, and am buying lunch where ever we are. I am saving up all my extra per diem for the July Cruise...
I went to the grocery store yesterday and bought some groceries to eat this weekend, which will cut down on the eating out every day. DC is an expensive town to eat in.
I won't have zero days for at least another two weeks - but I can have more minimal days.
I'm not sure how this works, but I *really* need to get a hold of our finances if I want *any* spending money for our May trip to the World. So I'm just gonna jump in!
3/1 = $0, I think (my memory is horrendous)
3/2 = $0 (this one I'm sure of -- it snowed)
3/3 = $55ish for groceries
= $30 for gas
= $22 for drapery from Kmart
3/4 = $45 for groceries (and, to pat myself on the back, I attended a meeting that night with a bunch of my girlfriends at an *ice cream parlor* and managed not to buy anything!!)
3/5 = $20 for the new Offspring CD
= $8 for Taco Bell for the kids
= $14 for gyros for dh and me
Our budget is written out to the penny and posted on the fridge. We have certain car issues we'll have to handle before the Big Drive to Florida, so I really MUST stick to it! I'm looking forward to using this forum to help me!

3/6 - The day started out OK - I brought my coffee from home for the morning, and my lunch too. However, DH called to tell me a his friend was coming over unexpectedly. So we ordered in pizza and wings - got extra for leftovers tomorrow too $60. Had to put gas in the car too $46.
$42 at O'Charley's for a couple of a adult beverages and dinner. DH and I hadn't been out to eat in a long time and after the work week, it was sooooo nice.
