As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad you were able to enjoy the Chocolate Tour! We walked that route since our cruise didn't offer the excursion, it was a lovely little walk on a beautiful day
Sounds like a fun excursion! Of course anything that focuses on chocolate is going to be fun!
Dinner looked yummy! Too bad your table mates weren't a better match for you.
Wow, we might have to try that tour one day! Looks like lots of fun!
Sorry about your tablemates...we've been very lucky with our table mates on our previous cruises though this coming cruise ... I don't know....
I'm putting the chocolate tour on a list of ones to consider in the future as it does sound fun, and CeCe was a doll. Nice that you still had time to relax on board after it. Your dinner looks divine.
That chocolate tour sounded neat! Glad you were feeling well enough to go.
The Grand Marnier souffle ....mmmmm! Can't wait to have that again!!
The tour was great! And the soufflé was AWESOME!

She was a cutie! We had a blast. Our dinner mates were ok -but once the two that joined us found out we were in medicine - oh boy! Some people are like that and just can't help but talk about all their maladies.

Dinner looks so yummy!!! Bummer your table mates weren't better matches for you two. That is the one thing I don't like about shared tables, you never know what you are going to get!
I know! Glad he didn't tell me that until AFTER we left port! I was a bit worried about the shared table. At least we didn't get little kids at our table. But those last two that joined us were very happy to share all their stories with us! I admit to leaving Chuck to fend the small talk with them while I socialized with Christine and Dale!

It was very good! That was a crostini. Like a big cheese covered crouton on a spinach salad. It was very yummy!

We booked with Disney and took their taxi. I think they gave us a bit of a tour around the city because we saw some government buildings etc. When they dropped us off - it was well before the market place just outside of the port. So we did have to dodge some of the vendors.

I'd get Abby in that deal! I agree - A1 should be left for really tough and really cheap cuts of meat.

It was a great day! The addition of the two table mates was interesting.

I was worried about our table mates. It could have been worse, I suppose. Definitely, the chocolate tour is a must try!

It was great! And yes, CeCe was so cute! The tour didn't take all that long - maybe a couple hours. So we did have quite a bit of time back on board.

We heard the engines as we backed into port around 5:30 am. Dozed off and on until about 7:30. We got up and saw people heading to shore from our verandah so we went off to find some food. We had a sit down breakfast at Royal Palace.
We loved the drawings in the hallway
After breakfast, we went back to the cabin to get ready for the day. There's a bunch of stuff we'd do differently. 1 - I'd remember my water shoes. Naturally, I packed them but I didn't wear them or bring them with me on CC. 2 - I would have packed a bigger bag - including water shoes, water bottles, sunscreen, etc. We just had a string backpack, but I would go with a full beach bag. 3 - try not to be burnt out to start. I think we were just so tired from our trip that we didn't want to do much "activities". 4 - Don't prepay for floats, bikes or gear. We prepaid but being so burnt out - we never used them. We really did enjoy ourselves though. We went to Serenity Bay where they were filming a commercial so we tried not to get in the way. We waded in the water and laid in a hammock. We got boat drinks (drink of the day) in a special cup and a bucket of water bottles. We had lunch at Serenity Bay - Steak, hot dogs, potato salad, ice cream and cookies. There was a bit of a rain shower during lunch but it was brief and gone. We did a bit of shopping on the way back to the ship.
We showered and then took a nap. We set an alarm for dinner but we were up before it. We watched Pirates of the Caribbean while we got ready for pirate night. We thought all of our table mates were going to be a no show but Billie and her friend did make it a half an hour late. Before we were sat, a lady asked if she could take our picture with her kids. It was fun. I guess we had good costumes. We just ate and skedaddled.
This was our head server
We went up to the deck so we could make the Pirate Party and Fireworks. We were in time for "Muppet Treasure Island" on funnel vision. Then we had pretty good seats for the fireworks once we moved from Port to Starboard.
The show was cute but we didn't stay for the dance party. We went back to the room and headed for bed.
This guy was just hanging around when we got back -
I wrote up some notes and checked out the verandah. Then we fell asleep to another Disney movie. No alarms, no plans for tomorrow as it was our at sea day.

What a nice day! Relaxing at Serenity Bay is plenty to do on CC! I love the photos from around the ship. The artwork everywhere is wonderful. The sea day you get with the 4-day cruise makes all the difference, I think. Heading home right after CC and pirate night always seems way too sad.
