As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

That ... is a very good question. I last saw Fantasmic years ago, and not as aprt of any dinner package (I don't know if that even existed at the time). I'll be finding out this January, mind you ... but that's not likely to be any help for YOU.
Nope, that won't be any help as our trip will already be five months in the past by then. Maybe someone else will know.
We were able to get reservations for the Fantasmic package but not at our first choice. We were told we could call back since they sometimes have cancellations so we will try that. We shall see if our first choice opens up or if we could get a later time at the place we are. We could have went later but we would have had to go with two different tables.
The reserved seating is actually a section, from the front of the theater to the back. If your kids are anything like mine, I would definitely stick with the package.

I just got back on 5-1. We weren't going to go see Fantasmic until one of the shop managers told us it was a must see. I am sure glad we went!
We arrived at 7.30 and sat just left of center about 5 rows from the top and had a great view.

We left it until 45mins prior to start time April 06 and we missed out!!!! We got great seats previously using the dinner package - the section to the right hand side and we waited until about 30mins prior to start time and had a fantastic view from near the back. We have already booked our ADR for October - we will never miss out again!
My DH and I saw Fantasmic 2 weeks ago w/ the Dinner package.
Dinner package was awesome. Ate at the Brown Derby, and as foodies, we were incredibly pleased. His porkbelly/scallop appetizer and my salmon entree were to die for and the package did save us a few $$$.
We went into the seating for Fantasmic about an hour before the show, and the entire right section was reserved. We were pretty much able to pick our seats - we sat about 4 rows back the whole way in on the aisle. The seats gave a fine view, and I was grateful for the dinner package because we were NOT packed in like sardines. The rest of the stadium was packed tight, and we still had space to move. I don't like being packed into a crowd, so the extra breathing room was great.
The show was...okay. It was neat, but for my DH and I, it was a little disappointing. The effects were fun, but the plot line was very thin, and I was expecting less water projection and more stunts and action. Frankly, my favorite part was the character "parade," and I can get that elsewhere. I'm glad I saw it, but I won't pay to see it again. I wanted a more cohesive plot and more live performance/ effects.

I think next time when we book our ADRs we will be sure and book this package. I like the idea of not having to stand in line to get a seat.
Personally, I would see if the paprk has EMH one of the nights you are there. The park often runs 2 Fantasmic shows on those nights and the 2nd one is supposed to be just for the EMH people. It is way less crowded than the 1st showing and you don't have to wait around very long as they have to empty the theater first before they let the 2nd showing in.

During our trip there is just one night that HS has EMH. We have dinner reservations at another location that night. Plus that is the night that MK has the SpectroMagic parade. That's the only night that Fantasmic has 2 shows when we are there.
I also have small kids and was worried about Fantasmic being too intense for them--I was able to find a video of the show on U-Tube that I let them watch so they could know what to expect when the scary parts come up! It spoiled the surprise a little; but, they were frightened by the villians and large fire breathing dragon--knowing Mickey wins in the end made them excited though, and now they can't wait to get to see the show!

If your sig picture is a current photo, then I think I'd recommend that you try to get seats up high in the theatre -- far from the stage. The dragon and the other villians won't be quite as intense for them.

The section that is just to the right of the "18" marker is the Mickey section and has the best overall view.
