Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Day Two/Part One of Porkchop & Scooter\'s Excellent Disney Adventure Updated 3/7

Friday, January 27

I had made all of our breakfast ADR’s for the 9:30 to 10 a.m. range since at this stage in our lives we are most concerned with sleep. This morning, we were dining with the princesses at PSB. We took our time getting ready and walking over to Norway where a crowd was already waiting outside. Thom checked us in and then we waited with the crowd. We had brought Mary Devall’s Belle dress with us, but it was a little chilly that morning so we decided (without mentioning it to Mary Devall) to just dress her in normal clothes. Of course, outside of PSB, she is surrounded by little girls dressed as princesses (most with the dresses over their clothes) and Mary Devall is immediately questioning us as to why she couldn’t wear her dress. We finally convinced her that she would have been too cold and that she could definitely wear it when it was warmer (of course, she doesn’t know that she’ll have the chance in May ).

This was our first time eating at PSB with the new format of taking a picture with Belle first. Belle was in her yellow dress, so I immediately kicked myself for not dressing Mary Devall in her Belle dress . The picture would have been SO cute! Now I’m just hoping that she doesn’t grow out of her Belle dress before May and that Belle is there again in her yellow dress!

After Mary Devall took her picture with Belle, we were whisked to our table all of about 2 feet away! Mary Devall enjoyed watching Belle as she greeted and took pictures with other children - - so much so that often when she plays Belle now she is meeting and greeting imaginary children (I’ve even had to stand in the imaginary line with Maddie so that she could take a picture with Belle!)

Mary Devall also enjoyed eating the caramel rolls - - she was on her second one before anyone else had a chance to eat one! My mom kept looking at the empty plate, but she kept turning down our offer to ask for more. Finally, near the end of our meal, she caved and asked our server to bring more. And after one bite, she was glad that she did. My parents had never been to PSB before, but I could tell (from the empty plates) that they really enjoyed the food.

The character interaction was great as usual. Thom was especially excited that he got to tell Jasmine that her top was coming undone in the back . She quickly fixed it, so no Janet Jackson costume malfunction at PSB.

We especially enjoyed talking with Mulan. I shared with her that my mother had painted a mural of the princesses on Mary Devall’s wall. When Mary Devall looked at the finished product, she informed her grandmother that she had left out Mulan. Mulan looked at Mary Devall and said “well, maybe she didn’t include me because I’m a warrior princess.” I then informed her that she was now on the wall. She was so touched that she had me believing that she really was Mulan. She even went over to my mom to thank her. What a sweetheart!

After we had met all of the princesses and had filled our tummies, we left Norway and went in search of the Character Connection. I love this place! We waited less than 5 minutes to see the entire gang and there was such great interaction!

From there, we took the short walk to The Land to check on times for Soarin’ - - a new ride for me. The fast pass time didn’t work for us and the stand-by line was 50 minutes, so I decided to skip it again. Thom knew that I really wanted to ride it, so he told me to go on with my dad and that he would wait with the girls (my mom is scared of heights so there was no way that she was going). Mary Devall got upset because I was going to leave her. I took her to the height chart and showed her that she was tall enough if she wanted to go, but she didn’t. She then took me back to the height chart and actually told me that I was too tall to ride it . We finally got her calm and my dad and I went to soar. We enjoyed reading the trivia along the way and just chatting – something we didn’t get to do too much anymore. Before we knew it, we were at the front of the line. A couple in front of us had a little girl with them who appeared to be about two years old - - obviously not old enough to ride the ride, so I assumed that one parent was just going to wait with her while the other one rode. Well, when the CM asked them to hold the little girl up to the height chart, the little girl freaked and the mom got furious at the dad for holding her up to the chart. The mom also got angry at the CM and asked why there wasn’t a height chart at the front. He said that there was, but she didn’t believe him. And although I knew there was too, there was no one I was having her turn her wrath on me . They left without either one riding the ride which was too bad.

My dad and I ended up standing in line for the front row which I didn’t realize was such a big thing until later. I was a little nervous not knowing what to expect. We strapped ourselves in and were quickly lifted up and out. Once we were airborne, I was totally and completely enthralled. This is absolutely one of my favorite rides now! My dad got a kick out of it too.

Once our ride was over, we rejoined the rest of our crew who had been enjoying hot chocolate in our absence. My parents offered again to take Maddie back to the room and rejoin us at MGM later for our Brown Derby ADR’s. Before they could go, I took Maddie to the baby center (which is in the brown circular building to the left between FW and WS) to nurse her while they went back to character connection to see if any new characters had come out.

When I came out of the baby center, my parents and Mary Devall were sitting on the bench. Thom was inside the first aid center getting a band-aid for a cut on his finger. The boy cannot pass a first aid center without having some sort of ailment .

Thom, Mary Devall and I were moving on to MGM, so we walked with my parents until we reached England and I remembered that Pooh characters could be found at the back of the toy store ( to my PP buddies). We waved goodbye to my parents and Maddie and went into the store where we hit pay dirt! Mary Poppins, Alice and Tigger were all there. The CM controlling the lines was such a sweet lady and kept reminding us that Pooh would be out soon. She seemed genuinely disappointed when we told her that we would not be waiting for Pooh!

Coming up . . . which is slower (a) the boat to MGM from Epcot or (b) the boat to Epcot from MGM?

The story of how Mary Devall now plays Belle by pretending to be greeting children is now my favorite MD story EVER! Adorable! And, I actually think that her darling little fleece and capri are cuter than any princess dress. She's such the charmer. Can't wait for MGM!

Karen (aka exclamation point adict!!! )
