As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We originally had no plans for 2015 because we were building a new house. That has sadly fallen through so I booked a last minute cruise on the Fantasy for this month as a consolation prize to myself! We also booked a trip to Disneyland/Las Vegas in October for our anniversary.
A trip to WDW in April and a summer trip to California, first the SF area and then driving down to Disneyland for 4 nights at the Grand Cali.
Hopefully a few weekend trips too. I know of one to the Philly area in Feb. for a baby shower, probably a rock digging trip to upstate NY in May, and a beach weekend with my girlfriends.
We will take a week off in July (around Chuck's B'day and our anniversary) and maybe take the train to Toronto for a few days. Or maybe just stay home and try out our camping equipment in our backyard.
Then come November, we will drive to Florida in order to camp for 3 days in Ft Wilderness before going on a 7 night cruise on the Fantasy (Western Caribbean). Figure a few days of roughing it before total pampering!

That will be quite the trip! You're definitely ending on the right note!

That was our thought too Kelly. We figure we can endure a few days of "roughing it" and tent camping while looking forward to a week on the Fantasy! We just replaced all of our equipment for Christmas (our last tent was way too old - read "dry rot") and really want to give it a go. And we don't want to use up a lot of DVC points so camping it is!
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. I hope that you do a trip report of your April trip to WDW.
As we're just starting a new year, what are your travel plans, big or small, for the next 12 months?
We're making three trips to America this year, one to Florida next month (I can now say that! ), one for another Alaskan cruise and Disneyland in August/September and then to Boston for a wedding in September.
Those are the big trips and we have some small ones planned too, like a weekend returning to the Isle of Man with Mark's parents and Mark's mum has always wanted to go there, but has never been, so I'm really looking forward to taking her over there. We're also going back to the Norfolk Broads on another boating holiday, this time with a flushing toilet and a bath!
How about you guys?
I look forward to your trip reports, especially the Disney ones!!
We have an 11 day Florida beach vacation in March. Staying with family 5 days in the New Port Richey area and 6 days at Vanderbilt Beach (Naples.)
5 - 7 day trip to WDW in May for an annual conference that DH attends.
7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas for our 25th Anniversary in September followed by several days at WDW for the F&WF and maybe MNSSHP.
Possibly a summer trip to Bar Harbor, Maine, but that is up in the air right now.
NYC for a long weekend in February. This has become mine and my sons annual trip.
WDW in April for my daughters 18th birthday/graduation
Summer trip to Maine, with a couple of nights thrown in either camping or at the beach, not sure yet.
I'm also hoping for a trip to Las Vegas, but that may be a solo trip, unless I can convince someone to come with me.
I'll probably also do a long weekend in DC
Nothing too crazy this year, I only need a hotel in Disney, NYC, and Las Vegas, but Las Vegas isn't even a definite. We're trying to put money away for a trip to Europe next year.
Location: Texas Baby!!!! Where Else would anyone wana live

Rae, Eliza, and I have a trip planned to Houston to get Eliza fitted for a prosthetic. We will be there February 15-22, since the physical therapist wants to get her accustomed to wearing it and evaluate how she does with it on. While there, Rae will hit the Maroon 5 concert (her Christmas present). Beyond that, we have no plans whatsoever. In August, Charlie and her friend bought tickets to a concert at the Woodlands...they have no idea how they are getting there, but they are going (guess who will eventually end up taking them since her mother won't even drive to the neighboring town to drop her off at another friend's house). I figure if we make it a family trip and not just the kids and I, then maybe we can see some more of the sights. I have always wanted to see the Battleship Texas and the San Jacinto Monument. Charlie is applying for 3 grants to go and tour 1. Vatican City 2. The battle sites of WWII, and 3. USC wants her to go tour their campus and are pushing for her to attend their school (I know she received a letter from Duke and University of Houston encouraging her to attend with some scholarships that are told her about). Beyond that, there are no trips planned for this year. But the following year, 2016; we are planning on returning back to Disney World.
We are headed to WDW for a family reunion and then to Lincoln Nebraska so my family can represent Texas in the State Games! My husband and oldest qualified in archery and my baby won gold here in tennis. It's like a mini Olympics with a big opening ceremony and athletes village. I can't wait!!
We started on 1/3 with a Royal Caribbean Western Caribbean cruise. I have 2 WDW trips planned, one in March with DH and one in May with DD. I may just have to throw another one in Sept. before my AP expires. Our big trip for this year is a Norwegian cruise out of Denmark with DCL in June! Can't wait to be on the Magic again!!
