As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Glad you got a seat during the drill as those things feel like forever when you're going through them, mostly because it's hot out and the life vests feel bulky and hot on the body. I feel so badly for that family in the ambulance since I'm assuming the woman never got back on the ship before departure time.

What a shame to have your long planned for vacation ruined before you even start, but perhaps better then than somewhere in the middle of the ocean. I hope the patient wasn't seriously ill or hurt. I'm guessing not, as the man didn't seem overly upset. I'll bet Disney came through with some compensation on redoing the cruise at another time.

Oh I know, and especially depending what your insurance arrangements are. I know everyone should have insurance, but I just wonder. Better to be taken ill in your home country than, as you say, in the middle of the ocean, but especially if you don't have insurance to cover you for during the cruise.

Sunday 5 March – part eight: I really should’ve known better!
There was certainly a lot to see on the way out…

However, the wind was really whipping around on deck nine, and that should have given us a warning about what was to come, but I was being optimistic, and figured it would die down…
I did like this fun new addition to the Wonder, and I bet kids love it too!
We headed back to the room, and I got a few photos as we sailed away, but not many, as we were getting close to dinner time, and I wanted to change my clothes before dinner.
We were in Animator’s Palate first, which I always love, so I was excited that was our first stop of the cruise.
We were seated on a table of eight adults, although in truth, four were there when we arrived, and they were all chatting, and we ended up chatting to the couple who sat next to us, Daryl and Barb from Ontario, who were lovely. There were two other women from Kansas City, and a couple from Baltimore, but I’m ashamed to say that’s all I can tell you about that. When we did occasionally exchange pleasantries, they certainly seemed very nice. That’s always nice, as it is something that I do worry about on the cruise, as you just never know what you’re going to get with your dining partners.
For appetiser, I went for the old favourite of the black truffle pasta purseittes, pasta purses filled with truffle scented cheese and coated with a delicate champagne sauce. I do love this dish, although tonight I found it a little more stodgy than I like.
Mark went for his old favourite of the smoked salmon tartar with dill, capers, onions, pickles and a horseradish cream.
For the soup and salad course, I went for the creamy butternut squash soup, which was very good. I have had worse in the past. I do hate myself for referring to past meals here, but it’s hard not to, as Disney just never seem to change their menu these days. I wish it differed by ship or by season to give regular cruisers a bit more variety.
Mark had the chicken and walnut salad with craisins, red onions and a cranberry dressing.
Ok, now this is where I really should’ve known better about the main course, but I obviously never learn. Next time I’m going to ask for perhaps the tomato tarte off the appetiser menu for main course or even the jumbo shrimp salad off the lighter offerings menu, but I always look at the entrée menu stupidly, and the choices on this menu are very limited for me. They have pennete Bolognese, herb crusted pork chop, beef tenderloin, and Mark’s choice, which I’ll come to in a minute. Now I have tried the black bean chipotle cakes before, and they came out swimming in oil, and frankly were gross, so that’s not an option.
I went for the only other item, but I have since told Mark he is to stop me ever getting this dish again, as it’s always a disaster. It was the grilled tuna steak with fingerling confit, caponata, sun-dried tomato pesto, and aioli.
When it turned up, I thought it was rare, but I figured I’d be good and give it a go. I managed about two or three bites, and it was way too rare for me, to the point where I honestly thought I’d be sick. Ugh, it was horrible.
I asked for it to be sent back and cooked more, and it came back overdone. I could barely get my knife through it and after chewing, and chewing, and chewing a bit more, I really couldn’t summon the energy to eat any more of it. It was such a shame.
Mark did much better than me, thankfully, and had the lemon-thyme marinated all natural chicken breast on top of sour cream mashed potatoes, roasted root vegetables, and grain mustard jus.
Sorry your tuna wasn't that good. Because of my allergies, I always have trouble when ordering my meal. I never seem to get food that I actually like. Sisney is good with letting me know what I can eat. They can't help if if I doing like it.
That waterslide area looks like it would be a lot of fun for children.

Never order tuna on DCL, never order tuna on DCL.....repeat 100 times now, please. See, I think I'd like that - but we grill tuna steaks to medium rare here.
I do so hear you on the menu seeming to never change! While I love a few of the offerings (pasta pursiettes being one), I think I've been having those for over 10 years now. I don't know how the lucky people who've sailed over 100x with DCL deal with that. In my case, it's only going to be my 10th time and I'm tired of some things. But DCL still wins overall for me in terms of cruises. And the old menus are still tastier than the food we found in the main dining room on RCCL.
