2011 Disney Vacations Where will you stay and Dine - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We're going in December 2011 and staying in a cabin at Fort Wilderness. I haven't made any definite decisions on ADRs but I do know 1 of my ressies must be at the Rose and Crown. Everything else is up in the wind.

Linda We're leaving for Disney World on December 1, 2016! I can't wait!!
We are trying for the Poly next year, if not there then the Contemporary. I haven't stayed at a monorail resort since 1980, so it's about time. My 40th is next year, so I want to go big!

October 2011 for us! We are going to stay for 9-10 nights. We're going to do a split-stay. We've never done that before. We're trying out BLT (hopefully a MK view) and either BCV or BWV. As for dining, we try new restaurants each time. Since CRT went to a character dinner, we might give it a try for the kids. I'd like to do Cali Grill while at BLT. We'll likely use the monorail from BLT to eat at Ohana, Kona, and 1900 PF, too. And, we love YS at BCV. I like the idea of having my dinner nearby when I wake up from my afternoon nap!
Update!! We've def decided on Poly b/c that's really what mil wants and I think it sounds wonderful, too! I think we may do a "girly" thing like CRT that trip since it's just her and I, but who knows?? Oh, and we've decided on Dec 1 - 6 ot 7!
We're booked at the Contemporary Garden Wing for May 2011 - our first stay at a monorail resort! Everyone's plans look great. We're thinking of trying the deluxe dining plan. We're hoping to eat at:
Some old faves:
Coral Reef (DD's #1 choice)
Chefs de France
Chef Mickey
Hoop De Doo Revue
Some new places (for us):
1900 Park Fare dinner
Tutto Italia
Mama Melrose
Yak & Yeti
I think everyone has great plans!
I think we are going to try and go to Hawaii and stay at the Disney resort in 2011!
I am sure I will visit WDW too in 2011, but I think my focus will be on a 33rd anniversary trip to Hawaii!
We are planning on going back Jan 2011. It will be our 4th trip to WDW, but will be a first ever all alone trip for DH & I. Looking forward to the planning! We are thinking about staying at CBR and doing the dining plan again.
Possible dining choices:
Cape May Cafe'
LeCellier or Teppan Edo
Whispering Canyon Cafe'
O'Hana or Kona'
Chef Mickeys
Grand Floridian Cafe'
Wofgang Puck Express
Beaches & Cream
50's Prime Time
?????????
Hope to start a PTR sometime soon! It makes a great way to countdown & put some magic into the planning!!!
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
And here my husband says that I'm crazy to start planning so far ahead? We are planning on August 28-September 5, 2011. We are bringing our son and my husbands two children, who are all first timers!! My husband and I haven't been since 2001, and personally I CAN'T WAIT!!! I am an accountant, so planning, numbers, spreadsheets, what-if & cost analysis are my thing, so I have been inputing data into spreadsheets for the past month and have been on this site every day looking for tips and suggestions. Did someone say Type A personality??
Great plans. I too am planning a 2011 trip (August) and dd & I are already talking about dining plans although we don't have the exact dates picked out yet.
Saturday August 13th - Grand Floridian Resort (shhhhh don't tell dd because she thinks we are heading down on Sunday August 14th) Lunch Grand Floridian Cafe Dinner at Narcoossee's
After our one special evening at the Grand Floridian we will be moving to Coronado Springs Resort for the remainder of our trip.
Other dining choices we are considering depending on if they offer free dining again during that time which I think they did this year.
Sci Fi
Beirgarten
Liberty Tree Tavern
Kona Cafe
Maya Grill
And then of course our favorite counter service places
Cosmic Rays
Cantina de San Angel (which will be all updated before we get there)
Casey's
Peco's Bill
Toy Story Pizza Planet
We haven't decided on 2011 yet. We will be going probably in May and October on our DVC points. We want to do the Wilderness Lodge Villas for one of the trips since it is the last DVC villas for us to stay in. I am not sure about the other choice. I am still trying to figure out our ADR's for this year's October trip so I know I won't think about 2011 for a while but I definitely want to try Artist's Point while we are at Wilderness Lodge. We have done Whispering Canyon when we stayed at the Lodge so this trip will be Artist Point!

We are going in Jan 2011 and taking my family (mom, her fiancee, my sister and nephew(10)) for their first trip to WDW. We will be staying (hopefully) at a two room suite in BWV on our DVC points.
Food hasn't been discussed yet but I think Kouzzina's, Le Cellier, and some character meals will be on the agenda.
Not everything is set in stone yet, but my Fiance` and I r talking about our Honeymoon plans for Fall 2011. Probably will be planned around the F&W festival since we had such a great time during that timeframe in 09.
We r thinking about POFQ or CB.
Already know we wanna eat at
Nacrosses
Hollywood derby
GF Cafe
LeCellier
O'Hana (mayb for breakfast)
Still working on plans but i think about it at least once a wk.
This is why I love you guys My friends and family thinks I am crazy. Already planning our 2011 trip... Nov. 28-Dec. 10. I have never been to WDW during Christmas and I am SO excited . We will be staying at WL and I already have alot of restaurants picked out .... Thank you all for being my sanctuary
