As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Stay in the parks (either one or park hopping) all day
Our trip in Nov.07 was the 1st to WDW. My dad and his wife paid for our trip, there was a total of 14 ranging in ages from 6-60. The first day we tried to stay together as a group. That did not work well. After that dad and his wife went their own way and the rest of us pretty much stayed together. About mid day the little kids got tired so my bother would take them back to the resort and let them swim or nap. My girls are both teenagers so they kinda did their own thing(thank god for cell phones) and my sister-in-law and I would close the parks, occasionally with the help of my sister and husband but not a lot. My sister and I are going on another trip in aug 09 with our daughters, her daughter is going to be 9. I have already told them all that I am going to see more shows this time and get to places we did not get to last time. I am planning on opening and closing the parks but will take mini breaks at the parks. I guess we will play it by ear. It is going to be hotter this time so I need suggestions to help with that. I may have to give in and wear shorts(I don't even do that at home) I lost 40lbs before our last trip but i have a long ways to go. I guess I should look at it this way I will never see of those people again and they probably don't care what I look like anyway.

We did both on our last trip. Usually we would go to a new park in the afternoon and take a lunch break, but a couple of times we went back to the hotel for a pool break.
I definitely have the "go go go" mentality, but my family has started to balk at that. I have had to learn to back off and take breaks. I would seriously just keep on going nonstop for 7 days, if I could.

We take breaks. At Disneyland we go back to the motel and take a nap in the afternoon..
But at WDW last time we were a long ways away from the motel and traveling by bus. When we got tired we went back to the motel and stayed there all night. We also take coffee breaks at WDW My wife usually took a juice break!!!
We're in the parks from shortly after they open until they close, unless we have a dining reservation outside of the parks or decide to go somewhere outside The World for a meal. My kids cry when it's time to leave. We rent a double stroller for them, so when they get tired they just fall asleep there. That's usually the time dh and I take turns riding something they can't or we just walk around and enjoy ourselves. We usually try to build an extra day or two into our trip so that we can enjoy the pool and visit with family who live in Florida.
We take a break around 2pm , since we go in Aug. we take advantage of evening EMH, it is cooler and more magical in the dark for us. Since we are out late every night; we sleep in and arrive at the parks around 10 after CS breakfast. Grab a CS lunch then leave for our pool break around 2. Freshen up and hit our TS ADR in or close to the evening EMH park around 5:30-6pm and stay until that park closes. We will hop to another park after that if one is open later.
We're in the "stay in the parks" camp I think: a few trip back when we were there with friends, we tried the leave the parks for something else and it just didn't seem to work as well for us. Now that being said, we move a little slower through the parks now-a-days, usually switch parks and use that downtime riding between the parks as a way to regroup.
We will leave the park to go back to the resort for a nap and/or dip in the pool. If at TMK, we'll also hop on the monorail to hit one of the resorts for lunch. We have ADR's for lunch at the Poly and the GF this year.

We weren't in the parks at opening, we usually got there 30 minutes to one hour later, then we stayed until at least 8:30ish or closing. I don't do commando though like my parents. We take breaks to sit and people watch or drink our sodas. We stroll through the park instead of rushing from ride to ride. Does anyone else who stays on property do this or do the majority of you take breaks?
We're with you! We take it easy--it is a vacation after all! Due to health reasons, we do take our time, walk some, ride some, sit some....we have sit-down meals, seeing the shows (that's like a break, with entertainment), and we stay til closing. We don't fight the AM crowds, arriving at the parks about 10 or so, usually have a lunch between 11-12:30, and just enjoy the day!
We usually go from opening to exhaustion; not always till park closing. We see things and play it by ear. Last year, my DD absolutely did not want to see Fantasmic, but this trip is already planning to see it. We have a tradition in Epcot. I love the American Adventure show; DD does not. Well, actually, she's never seen it. She takes a nice nap in the dark theater. At the end of the show, the music gets louder, I get tears in my eyes, and my daughter wakes up refreshed. It is the perfect compromise.

Normally, we hit the park at opening and then about 2pm or so we leave head back to the hotel for a nap or a swim and then head back to the same park or Epcot for dinner and then stay until that park closes.
We do a little of both, if it was up to me we would stay all day and night, but DH has to use the pool. I told him this time we will try to go back to hotel midday take a swim give DD her bath and go back out we will see how that works.
