As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We arrived at DHS fairly quickly, and headed straight to Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, as that was our first Fastpass+ - swiped our little bands, matching mickey head to mickey head, and we were soon loading in our car!!! Easy peasy!
Next on our Fastpass+ was Toy Story Mania – so we headed over there. The score was close; with Emily winning….but my accuracy was better!
We had a little time before our next Fastpass+ so we rode Star Wars Tours – neither of us were the Rebel Spy.
Our next and final Fastpass+ for the day was the Great Movie Ride. Emily and I had been hearing and reading a lot about the Western side…………and seriously – ALL the trips to WDW and as many times as we have ridden the GMR, not ONCE have we EVER seen the Western side! So we asked at the entrance, and were told that it looked like they were still running that side, so to let the cast member know when we reached the final entrance. We got down there, asked, and was told to wait for the next group……we were getting excited! Well………..that didn’t last long, as the CM came back over and told us the Western side was done for the day. But we scored the front row. Better luck next time I guess.
Of course we stopped for Photospass photos:
We started to head out of DHS as they were closing early tonight and Emily wanted to head back to MK – so we got the bus back to MK (I should have posted a warning that this TR is NOT for the weary!).
Again, we were doing really well with the buses and we were soon entering MK again and we headed straight to the back for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad………this girl loves her roller coasters!!!
When we got off BTMRR we were starting to get hungry and it was nearing the time for the Main Street Electrical Parade, so we found a table at Pecos Bills outside where we could see some of the parade while we ate – I went and grabbed food while Emily held the table. I had the Southwest Chicken Salad and Emily had the BBQ Pork Sandwich ~ and apparently I failed to take photos!
Emily enjoyed watching the parade from here!
We had not had a single character meet yet (which, again if you have followed any of my other TR’s, you know this is NOT normal for us……) – so we needed to rectify that and headed to see Tink and Vidia! They are always so much fun!
After our character meet, we took a quick ride on Pirates of the Caribbean – walked right on!
It was near park closing time (why do they close MK so early on a Saturday night???), so we headed out to try to beat the bus crowds and were soon on a bus back to POP.
When we arrived back in our room – there was an amazing gift basket with balloons for Emily for her birthday!!! Sorry the pictures are not that great ~ but the basket was made up of a silver tray with bubbles, an autograph book, Ariel Pen, shells, and a bubble wand (looked like the carriage). It was fantastic!!!
All in all, I would say we had a great first day of birthday celebrations!!!
Up Next: A visit with some familiar creatures!!!

Sooooooo, when do you check out the new Princess Storybook hall?? I hear Cinderella's there...
The birthday gift basket looked great. I hope they do something like that for Jordan. Did you do anything other than tell them it was her birthday?
Thanks! . I had spoken to a cast member prior to our arrival due to an issue with room reservations........there was a computer glitch and she had mentioned she would make sure Em had a great birthday

So if I remember right you started at MK went to DHS and then back to MK with lots of fun everywhere you went. Definitely not for the fainthearted. Wow! Love the birthday treat back in the room.

OMG...........just joining in now and am only on your first post but I had to stop and say how cute you both look, LOVE the tiara!!!
Reminds me on my mommy daughter trip I took with Josie and she was just 4, gosh, I hope when she is a teen she would still want to do this with mommy. Such a sweet time.
OK, going back to read more now.
OK, so I haven't missed too much, thank god.
Sorry about the new baby you are taking care of OK really, Scott, I hope you are feeling better quickly.
You got quite a bit done on a first day and seeing the parade from your dinner seats doesn't seem so bad...........might like that for the future.

I hope you managed to keep Scott within the baby gates all day! Really, though, sending lots of pixies that he's not in too much pain when the block wears off. I remember not expecting much pain from shoulder surgery (was told it would be "minor discomfort") and being shocked by how bad it was. He's been through it before, though, so I guess you know what to expect.
I feel like all I do when I respond to your TRs is say, "Wow, you did so much!" But, WOW! Victoria and I were discussing yesterday how it seems you just go from ride to ride (and big ones, too) with no wait times! Love all the sweet Mom and Em pics.
