As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I got back a week ago from my Christmas trip to WDW. I took my sandals and my flip flops. I spent most of the trip in my Teva flip flops. I honestly don't know why I bother taking anything else.

I bring at least 3 pair of flip flops and maybe a pair of sneakers if we are going in the cooler months. I also bring a pair of sparkly sandals if we are thinking of having a "date night." I have been known to buy a new pair of shoes while we are there even though I have so many with me. I like having options
My sketchers sneakers, my Disney vans and a pair of flip flops for water rides and at the resort. To afraid some one will step on my toes to wear my flips in the park ,but at home I live in them.
For me, it makes a difference that I drive vs. those who fly. Still, I don’t want to load up the car with too many pairs of shoes, I wear sneakers while driving. I take an extra pair of sneakers, because I wear them when in the parks and at Disney Springs. We typically encounter a lot of rain, so an extra pair of sneakers is crucial.
On top of the sneakers, I’ll have something for the pool, probably Crocs, and a pair of reasonably presentable sandals, if we have dinners planned at resorts.
So, 4 total, but if I were flying, I’d have to pare down to absolutely no more than 3. I recall when DS and I went to Disneyland a few years back, I wore my sneakers for travel and packed Crocs and sandals. That was it.

In all my years wearing flip flops in the parks, and it's a LOT of years, I think I've only had 1 person step on my toes and I think it was my mom. Usually the thing you have to watch out for is someone catching the back of the flip flop as they step forward and this is more of an issue when you're in a tight line or a really big crowd.
When you wear flip flops as much as I do (and that's 90% of the year - I only change out of them when there is snow/salt on the ground) you develop a good sense of where other people are in relation to your bare toes.
I do wear my flip flops if it's over 40 degrees living in NC that's normally year round. When we were in WDW 2014 I had a lady park her stroller on top my foot. So now I wear my walking shoes in the parks.
Usually I bring 4 pairs. Flip flops, athletic sandals that strap on to my feet so they won't fall off, sneakers or shoes I can wear socks with and slippers for the room, I hate cold feet. I try to wear the sneakers to the airport because the others take up less room in the suitcase.
I generally take 2 - sneakers and sanuks/birkenstocks for the pool or room. I only wear sneakers in the parks - I would never wear anything else. I need the support and even in tennis shoes, I've had people step on my feet and run strollers over them.
I finally ended up with three: the pair I wore on the plane, and two pairs of sneakers. I switched off each day with my shoes, but I wish I had brought a lighter pair of shoes. I didn't expect my feet to get so warm.
