Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

They were very sad - we had many real tears even though I tried convincing them of what a good job they were doing. Maybe we'll try this again when they are older.

Sorry there were some tears after the Animation Academy. It is a little frustrating that they don't have erasers on the pencils there! The rest of the day sounded great though, I love all of your pictures!

Looks like a fun day. Sorry your kids didn't enjoy the drawing class. The same thing happened with my nephews! Even though I made a big deal about how good they did (theirs were great for their ages). Sounds like a fun time at WCC. I haven't been there in a while!

What a nice day.

I want to try so many of the things you did on my next trip - animation academy - meeting Jake - Pizza Planet and WCC.

Sounds like a really nice day and early to bed - how did you manage that?

I kept telling my kids they were doing a great job too, but yeah, that didn't mean squat to them LOL! Maybe when they are older we'll try again! And WCC was great - we'll definitely go back there!

AA, Jake, and WCC were all firsts to us this trip Early bedtime isn't too difficult with my crew. Sadly, I am the only night owl. Kids and DH are routinely up at 6-6:30ish, even on vacation, so that makes for early nights! Makes mornings on vacation easy though And since we were there for 10 days, we didn't feel the need to have tons of packed days.

Sunday, August 26: DTD and MK
I woke up feeling stuffed up today as did Alex. We both had scratchy throats too - uh-oh! We moseyed along getting ready and made our way down for breakfast at Roaring Forks around 9:45. Mickey waffles for the kids and I - yum! My, oh my, was it busy at this time, so it took a bit to find a table, but eventually we did.

We were ready to leave from breakfast, so after eating, we went to wait for the bus to DTD, which took forever! While we waited, we chatted with bus CM - he was a CP graduate, now seasonal and was a pleasure to talk with.

We went into the Christmas store first where we browsed for a bit, picking out a 'Baby's First Christmas' ornament for our new niece. Then the kids spotted the Design a Tee store and were chomping at the bit to make t-shirts, so off we went.

Their finished designs.

Once finished there, we wandered over to Once Upon a Toy and Team Mickey. At TM, they had set up a little ball toss game for kids to play, so of course my two had to get in on that!

They handed out little certificates to the kids for participating - nothing special, but made their day

When we finished in there, we hit the Lego store before heading to lunch at T-Rex.
(Excuse the pics - I had my smaller, not-so-good camera with me )

The kids loved TRex! Sabrina was bummed we didn't get a different seating area, as we were in one of the 'plainer' areas, but she survived. We enjoyed the food here well enough, but $32 for a steak was so not worth it. It was good, but to only get a steak and mashed potatoes for that price is a little crazy in my opinion. Thank goodness for the dining plan!

Enjoying their shakes!

Didn't want to miss a drop

We did have a Chocolate Eruption for dessert - yum!

The rain had started during lunch, so we shopped for a few minutes in the gift shop. Sabrina got a Super Dino outfit for her Build A Bear, but we didn't buy anything else.

The rain slowed, so over to World Of Disney we went. We spent a considerable amount of time in there and bought lots of fun things The kids spent most of their souvenir money and we grabbed our typical souvvies of magnets and a few kitchen items.

We went back to the hotel when we were finished shopping and Dave and I napped while the kids played on their bed. I was still not feeling great, but the nap helped.

We headed to MK around 7 and rode Dumbo at the request of the kids; the kids played in the play area first even though there was no wait for the ride. Then they rode alone for first time while I took pictures.

We rode Goofy's next as it had little wait as well.

Then we wandered through FL - and checked PP finding a 60 minute wait - no thanks! Dave and Sabrina rode HM - but Alex opted out, apparently he's become afraid of this ride, so we shopped in Yankee Traders for a bit.

My little chef

We made our way over to Pirates, stopping to play with some lassos for a few, then hopped right onto a boat. After our ride, we poked around the shop for a bit.

By this point, it was almost Wishes time - a time many look forward to, but not us! LOL! You may remember (if *I* remembered to mention it!) that DD is deathly afraid of fireworks - I'm talking sobbing, shaking, the works. This makes staying at the park late an issue. Well, we've solved it!

Earlier in the evening, I made some CMs raise eyebrows asking where the quietest place in the park would be during Wishes. One mentioned Adventureland/Frontierland and the lightbulb went off for me! Pirates! It's deep, and noisy itself, and a fairly long ride. I think that might work!

We timed it so we got on to Pirates when Wishes started (people coming behind us as we stood near the loading area waving them through probably thought we were odd, but who cares?) This worked out beautifully and at the end, the CM operating the unloading area let us open a CM only door to listen for any fireworks. They were done and Sabrina was thrilled.

It started to drizzle at this point, so we walked over to Casey's for a hotdog and some snacks. We snagged a table under the awning that allowed us to watch the MM & Y show from it.

Just some castle shots, not the show

Once that was done, we checked PP wait again, but it was still crazy, so I rode the Carousel with the kids and made a pit stop to see if we could get the sword out of the stone . Then we made our way to the TTA - and there was actually a line for this!

At this point, we were tired and headed out of the park. We waited only a few minutes for a boat, then headed home for the night.

Up Next: Will we meet 'real' royalty today?

What a great day!! Glad you were able to avoid Wishes ( I understand the issue well, my DS is not fond of them either but seems to be getting less afraid of them as he gets older- he will at least watch Illuminations from La Hacienda and not freak out) and I will have to remember that about riding Pirates during that time - great idea. I hope you felt better the next day.

Good job avoiding the fireworks with a voyage to Pirate country! It's nice that the CMs on the ride were sympathetic to your issue and let you check for noise before exiting. I love the shot of Alex practically upside-down trying to get all of his shake!
